Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 http://www.411wrestling.com/news/newsboard...hp?news_id=5561 Vince McMahon will presumably be facing Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania, as Hogan and WWE were able to come to a deal to have him return again. Had WWE not reached an agreement with Hogan, the plan was for McMahon to go one on one with Eric Bischoff at Wrestlemania. Hogan’s return changed those plans, and might also have changed the original plan for McMahon’s 30 day ultimatum. Credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter I know that drawing the curtain on Hogan's career and sending him home is more important, but they just keep screwing up on this, don't they? The fact that they considered doing a McMahon/Bischoff angle in this many weeks shows how little they realize that they can completely BANK on this if it's done right.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Well i'd prefer to see Hogan-McMahon - I mean c'mon, it's wrestling ICON vs wrestling ICON, I don't mind the thought of it. Every Wrestlemania needs a nostalgic/gimmick match i believe. However, right now, EZE vs McMahon would make more sense... UYI - Has no clue
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I'm just more frightened that they were going to do McMahon/Bischoff with one month's buildup more than anything else. They ought to do it sometime, or they're just throwing money away, but a quick buildup ala this wouldn't be right.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 It will be Bischoff/Shane @ wrestlemania, mark my words.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 No one cares about Vince Vs Bischoff anymore. It would have been Big money a few years ago and even during the Invasion. Now that Bischoff works for Vince and is made to look like he's scared of Vince on TV, it's useless. Just another blown opportunity.
Guest Trivia247 Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Well i'd prefer to see Hogan-McMahon - I mean c'mon, it's wrestling ICON vs wrestling ICON, I don't mind the thought of it. Every Wrestlemania needs a nostalgic/gimmick match i believe. However, right now, EZE vs McMahon would make more sense... UYI - Has no clue More Like Wrestling Icon vs a Boney Old Man. Sure Vince bulks up here and there to get into those odd matches vs Austin and HHH, but come on, he ain't a wrestler... If Hulk wants to end his career vs McMahon in a Match, then maybe he believe us smarks that he can't wrestle. Since he wants to go out wrestling a nonwrestler .
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Hulk Hogan ending his illustrious career against the owner of the very same company that made him into a superstar and a ledgend in professional wrestling seems approiate to me. Vince vs. Bischoff won't work IMO, since WCW died and the InVasion bombed. However, if its Biscoff vs. Shane for the RAW GM spot, expect the match to turn into a Street Fight just because Shane could do another insane bump at a pay-per-view. And I could get into that match because I WANT Shane to do another crazy bump.
Guest ManKinnd Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Shane doesn't usually let us down at PPV. I mean sure, they're not all ****1/2 classics like his KOR brawl with Kurt Angle, but he usually makes his matches watchable with insane bumping.
Guest notJames Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 But Shane's only good when he's put in the ring with wrestlers. Bischoff is not a wrestler. Not even close. I don't think this match is going to go down.
Guest edotherocket Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I hardly watched WCW. Did Bischoff ever wrestle? Does he take bumps?
Guest saturnmark4life Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 It would be a street fight with Bischoff/shane, and Bischoff would just get Nathan Jones to beat the living shit out of shane and have him bump like a maniac. Of course, shane will win. sigh. I like Bischoff, dammit.
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 But Shane's only good when he's put in the ring with wrestlers. Well, his match against Vince at Wrestlemania X-Seven was a fun little brawl. The ending when Linda rose up from her chair to kick Vince in the balls got a BIG POP and Shane also did an elbow drop through the table and the Van Terminator. The end sequence always gives me goosebumps to this day. The crowd was hot during the match, especially when Trish turned on Vince and got into a catfight with Stephanie, and they cheered when Shane got the pin and hugged Linda. I gave the match ***1/2. The half for the Van Terminator at the end. I hardly watched WCW. Did Bischoff ever wrestle? Does he take bumps? He did wrestle several times in WCW. If I remember correctly, he's a karate champion right? He never took bumps though. It was mostly brawling when he fought. And his matches were pretty bad. At very bad pay-per-views. I can name them off the top of my head: vs. Larry Zysbcko at Starrcade 97. teamed with Hollywood Hogan vs. Diamond Dallas Page and Jay Leno at Road Wild 98. vs. Ric Flair at Starrcade 98. vs. Flair again the next night on Nitro. vs. David Flair on the January 15, 1999 episode of Monday Nitro. And finally, teamed with Jeff Jarett vs. Diamond Dallas Page and David Arquette (Yep him) on the April 26, 2000 episode of WCW Thunder when Arquette won the WCW Title.
Guest notJames Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I wasn't impressed with the X-7 match, but the Van Shane-inator was cool if only for how it exposed the early RVD as a one-trick spot monkey. Kick-and-punch fests by fair-weather sports entertainers don't impress me that much. But, to each his own.
Guest NoCalMike Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 If we get Vince/Hogan then ok that is one thing because everyone knows going into the reason. However I don't wanna see Shane McMahon near a wrestling ring EVER AGAIN. Leave the bumping up to his wrestlers. No more showing up workers by jumping 20 ft onto an air mat.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Leave the bumping up to his wrestlers. No more showing up workers by jumping 20 ft onto an air mat. Oh bah. Good TV is good TV. I NEED a Shane match. Another year of all the wrestlers from the cruisers to the bumpers and so on playing "Let's All Work Like HHH Works" is going to make me cry without some special to liven it up.
Guest JMA Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I think Hogan vs. McMahon should be a No Holds Barred match, just for old times sake. I see the match as being a five minute domination, in favor of Hogan. Vince can get a little offense in (via a low blow and some taunting), but Hogan will then "Hulk-up" and cream Vince. Then the big boot and leg drop will be the ceremonial finish. Hogan retires and Vince stays out of the ring for a while. Maybe have Hogan leave through the crowd as well.
Guest The Shocker Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 I would rather see a match with actual wrestlers get more time during the show then having the WWE save twenty minutes up to waste it on any combination of Hogan/Vince/Shane/Bischoff. It's not worth it anymore.
Guest notJames Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Amen, bruthah. SmackDown!'s main event scene has proven that... shock of all shocks... wrestling works well on a wrestling show. It's time to step away from Sports Entertainment for a bit and see if this "wrasslin'" can fly.
Guest The Shocker Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 You know, when the rest of the WWE realizes that wrestling is actually what everyone wants to see they might actually get somewhere with their ratings, since I noticed in another thread they are going down.
Guest The Hitman Returns Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 Give Shane a break, all of his matches have stole the show. Do you not remember the Angle match and the brutal strap shots he took from X Pac at WM15?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 You know, when the rest of the WWE realizes that wrestling is actually what most the people on this board wants to see Fixed your post.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 If it ever came to Bischoff vs McMahon, I hope that Bischoff reminds everyone that he is 1-0 vs Vince since Vince got counted out when Bischoff issued that challenge to Vince at Slamboree 98 in worchester Mass. I want an almost 5 year rematch at Backlash in the same arena and everything..that would be awesome!
Guest Brian Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 The Angle match. Don't remind me of that.
Guest The Shocker Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 I didn't think anything was wrong with it JOTW, but thank you.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 I didn't think anything was wrong with it JOTW, but thank you. Psst. It's saracsm. Kind of like if I posted: What the WWE needs to be successful is more HHH title wins And then you quoted it and changed it to: What the WWE needs to be successful is more HHH title wins AND I AM A DUMB IDIOT And added "Fixed" to the end.... Ah, the joke went above your head, to explain takes away the ZING factor.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted February 6, 2003 Report Posted February 6, 2003 If it ever came to Bischoff vs McMahon, I hope that Bischoff reminds everyone that he is 1-0 vs Vince since Vince got counted out when Bischoff issued that challenge to Vince at Slamboree 98 in worchester Mass. I want an almost 5 year rematch at Backlash in the same arena and everything..that would be awesome! OMFG. That was the first wrestling show I watched in years. Trying to figure out what why my friend was all hooked into this wrestling stuff and what the draw was all about. The show didn't make me care enough to try again until Jan 99 though. But yeah, I sat and wondered who this legendary "McMahon" figure was and why this Average Joe dude was calling him out. Everybody in the stands had "McMahon Bite Me" and "McMahon Won't Show" and such for signs. I thought he was some popular wrestler or something. Then I watched RR 99 a few months later. After Rock/Foley I Quit blew my mind and made me a fan, Cole was orgasming about "Mr. McMahon is #1 in the Rumble!" I thought to myself, "Ah, I'm finally going to see who this McMahon guy is!" Goddamn, was I ever disappointed.
