Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2003 Credit: www.stormwrestling.com February 4,2003 I’m really pressed for time this week, so this may be short. After burying our last International trip, to India, so badly I thought it only fair to comment on our most recent trip, to Korea and Japan, because it was awesome. After Raw 2-weeks ago, in Providence, RI, we flew to Seoul South Korea for 1 show then to Tokyo Japan for two. Travel was of course brutal, but when you do TV live every Monday you have to go half way around the world, work 3 show, and get back in less than 6 days. There really isn’t a good way to do it; travel is going to be rough. It was the first time the Company or I have ever been to Korea and it was an amazing experience. I didn’t get to see much of the Country but I consider getting to add any Country to my list of places I’ve been a good thing. From the little I saw of Seoul, it very much reminded me of Japan. There were several differences but the general feel of the Country was the same. Our hotel was excellent and the show itself was OFF THE CHARTS. The Korea crowd was the hottest, loudest crowd I’ve ever seen, heard, or worked in front of. The opening match tie up was getting the kind of POP, and crowd response Hogan and Rock got in Sky Dome at WrestleMania. It was Unbelievable. The building was a tight steep building so all of the people were in close to the ring. There was about 14,000 people and they were so loud. They had never been to a live WWE show before and man were they excited about it. It was one of those shows you could do no wrong in; they popped for everything. William and I defended the Tag Titles against Booker T and Golddust, and the crowd loved it. They did not react well to the “belt shot” finish, but perhaps they didn’t really understand it. Finishes like that don’t work well in Japan either. On an interesting note, I had my first KO in this match. We’ve talked here many times about my reputation as a very light and safe worker, well all of that went out the window in this match as I knocked Golddust out cold with a back elbow. It’s an elbow I’ve thrown a million times but on this night it, unfortunately, hit its mark. I caught Goldie right on the Jaw with it and he dropped like a stone. Good thing Booker was paying attention because I didn’t realize I knocked him out and I covered him for the pin. If Booker didn’t make the save, it would have been the end of the match because Goldie wasn’t moving. Fortunately he recovered pretty quickly and we finished the match without a problem. The Japan shows were just as good. The crowds weren’t quite as lively, but they were about the same size and sold out to the rafters, like Korea was. I hadn’t been to Japan in 5-years so it was cool to finally go back. Many fans remembered me from my WAR days, so there was a real home coming feel to the trip. We worked Hurricane and Spike the first night and the Dudley the second. Both matches were fun and the crowd loved what we did. I’ve always loved the Japanese crowds; they treat wrestling differently and I always feel more respected in Japan. The interesting note from the last Japan show was that I broke my nose for the first time. It was right at the beginning of the Dudley’s come back so I had to do the whole finish of the match with a broken nose. Fortunately it was from a straight on hit so it want’ displaced; it could have been much worse. My nose is still a bit tender but at least I didn’t have to go to the Hospital to have it set and straightened. Looking back it doesn’t sound like that great of a trip: a broken nose, I knocked a guy out, and extremely long brutal travel, but those three shows were so amazing it was more than worth it. I wouldn’t give that trip up for anything. Till next week, Lance
