The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I'm a Data Entry Clerk for a non-profit organization near the UN downtown. Basically, I type shit all day. I type 75 words a minute so this is SUCH a breeze. I have a T3 connection here and its BLAZING. Full benefits, not taken out of my paycheck, I couldn't ask for anything more, besides more money. The atmosphere is really relaxed, this is just great.... So, what about you guys, do you like what you do? Dames

Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I HATE my job. Well, I can't say I hate it so much, its just the fact that I'm just wasting my time being there. It was supposed to be just something to do while I waited to go back to school. Well, 4 years later and it sucks. I should really go back to school in September and I plan to, but for now I'm stuck there. Anyways, Zack....why is your JOB such a secret anyways? If I worked there or a place like it, I'd tell anyone who'd listen.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Anyways, Zack....why is your JOB such a secret anyways? Solicitation is a crime....but hey, it has its benefits. Dames
Guest treble charged Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I HATE my job. I dread waking up in the morning and having to go in there, and the days off always go by WAY to quickly. Of course, I don't work while I'm away at school (at least not this year), so I'm lucky in that respect.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted February 6, 2003 Anyways, Zack....why is your JOB such a secret anyways? Solicitation is a crime....but hey, it has its benefits. Dames Oooh, didn't see that one coming. Just when I was starting to respect my fellow freestyle fan too... Anyhow, Bif, it's a number of things, but mainly I don't want anyone to a)think I'm egotistical/bragging by talking about it, and b)don't want to deal with any unhappy customers, should any be around here. I work there, but I don't own the joint!
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I supervise a callcenter. However we are a startup company with no customers. So I supervise a total of 0 employees. My IT guy hooked me up with a dvd player for my laptop. I share an office with one other guy and we have a microwave and small fridge in our office. We have a tv/vcr combo and I tape shows such as sopranos and the shield. I'd have to say I don't really earn my pay, but hey, can't complain.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 My hours have been cut from about 40 to about 15, so I'm kind of angry at my job right now. I know where Zack Malibu works!! But, I'm not telling!!

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I used to work at Ames (my fellow New Englanders know of this chain of retail stores), but the company went out of business. My only job, and I LOVED it. Of course, that did have to do with the fact that 3/4 of my co-workers I was already friends with, but hey...
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Well, currently, as thsi pace, I will probably NEVER get a job. Around my area, NO ONE is hiring.....
Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Dames glad to hear you love your job. Seems like an easy job. My new job is awesome. The pay is good, the benefits are great and the people I actually like compared to my last job. Definitely can't complain about the perks including already having vacation time as well as getting baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer tix through their sports program. Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Right now, I'm a student, but I'm also the Internet Director for the campus radio website. It's only 40+ a month, but I work only six hours a week, and it consists of sitting on my ass and pushing buttons, something I'd be doing in my dorm room anyway. 'Sides, money is money in college, I take what I can get.
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I work at a children's daycare. Great hours and good pay. The job is a total breeze since I am good with kids and get along with all of my other fellow councilers. I am the guy who brings down the orders from the head office down to the other councilers along with being the good cop for them if they get into hot water with a parent or the front office. I know every member from the front office since I use to go to the place when I was a youngin and they all loved me on account of my interest in working with the baby's of the place (I still do help out there). It's a chill kind of place with no drama and it's also located near the beach so that's enough to keep me satisfied.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I love my job, the vast majority of the time. Since it's a government job, it's rare that I actually have to work, but we do have our moments. Every now and then, it's a pain in the ass, but the pay, benefits, security of working on an Army installation, and laid-back atmosphere (I work with several friends) make up for it. I have seen many openings on the net for jobs that match the description you just gave EXACTLY. So, I have some questions. Do people just drop stuff off to you to type in? I mean what exactly are you typing in? Also, how much do you make an hour and where do you live? (so i can see the relative scale it would be here in Sac/California)
The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 NoCalMike, basically, what I do is this. I work in the library department and they have a huge section of archived binders and each page needs to be converted into an electronic document. All of the pages are already scanned, I just have to edit them and properly configure them on Word. Some pages can't be scanned and have to be typed out. I was told that the temps and part timers who were doing my job before only did about 50 pages a day....I'm doing an entire book a day which is about 200 pages, which is completely blowing their mind. I live in New York City (The Bronx) incase you didn't know and this job is only for 22K a year but with GREAT benefits. Also, I've only been here for less than a week, but because my output is so great, they're already considering giving me a raise. Dames

Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Nice going, Dames! Nothing says pay raise like proving that your predecessors were complete slackers. I'm a statistical research analyst for the Canadian government...I LOVE my job. Really interesting work, plus our union's really good, so I get amazing pay (over 60K a year, and I'll probably be over 70K before I turn 30), great benefits, fully-indexed pension when I retire, best work environment I could imagine. It's a dream come true, really.
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted February 7, 2003 god.... I hate my job. I work at a Long John Silvers...and while it is the Number 13 or so store in the country...it still sucks because I'm GAWD there...seriously...I have an "LJS God" nametag......I have to do everything... I wish I could send people into the desert and shit... my other job is my internship at a local AM/FM radio station. No pay...4 hours a week...but eh...it's giving me college credit so I can go out and immediately make in the 50-60K range...

The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Nice going, Dames! Nothing says pay raise like proving that your predecessors were complete slackers. NICE JOB! As for me, I just know a lot of shortcuts in Word and I type pretty fast and I've got lots of experience with a scanner, so the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a breeze . Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Jeez man, I work at a shitty convienience store 22 hours a week for pretty piss poor wages. I quite enjoy it though, and I do like the people there. I suppose I couldn't really ask for more with no retail experience. Just as long as my writing takes me into a good job when I come out of university, I'll be very happy with that and forget all about working at Alldays, Broomhill, Sheffield, England... Hey, if anyone lives round there (not really likely, apart from saturnmark) pop in on a Saturday night and say hello
