Guest Banky Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Is Hogan totally outmatched or what? Hogan's act is so forced. He is actually channeling his 80's interview style. The Rock on the other hand has changed up his interview style so drastrically that the fans will begin cheering him again. He should continue to act like the old Rock instead of the blatently arrogant Rock. People were tired of his old act, they don't need a fresh style to cheer for. Personally, the new Rock is making me like him all over again. Its beautiful. Hoagn...well Hogan...needs well....he....uhm....y'know.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Yeah Rock's interviews......they're.....umm..... boring as hell. Yeah that' s what I was looking for.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Rock was mildly funny tonight. Which is better than him boring me. I just hope he lays on the heel antics thick soon because otherwise I agree they might start cheering him again soon.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Rock has always been more liked by me when he was a heel. I always felt his style was suited to spite the fans, rather than have them chant/sing along. Now with that said, he still needs to agree to put over younger talent ASAP when he comes back. Guest Shanghai Kid 2003 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I though Rock was funny and irritating tonight, which is exactly what he needs to be. His first promo was sort of heelish with the Tampa Bay stuff, and ya that was sort of boring. But the second promo was some of his best work in the last 3 years. The way he played off Hogans character was great. It was entertaining as hell and drew more heat than any HHH promo of the last year. And it was realistic too, because he's talking to hogan from a fans perspective while Hogan is still in character. Rock was saying all the things to Hogan that I was thinking. And if I was a markish Hulkamaniac, i'd be hating Rock. That shaved head is just raw, and the talking to somebody to the side is a funny little sidenote. Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Yes, It was a great Promo...and It's kind of the collaboration of 1998 Rock and 2000 Rock and it works so far...My only beef...The hair...just looks WRONG.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 7, 2003 What Rock needs to do in his promos is you know.....quit drawing them out. He needs to say what he's say rather than sitting there going "oh yeah....yeah....the rock likes that.....mmmm.....yeah......did you hear that?....yeah"
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I think that is what MAKES him annoying now in a good way...Besides...I just love the background they give Rock, it makes him look Larger then Life.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Is it just me, or was The Rock terrible tonight. His promo wasn't worth my time, and if it wasn't for Hogan's immense effort I would've turned the tv off. I don't like Hogan, but he seemed a bit better to me. Rock is really out of touch. Guest Shanghai Kid 2003 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 HA! Are you kidding me? Your telling me that Hogan outshined Rock? It was just you, because Rock carried that promo, and it was great. I agree that its a collaboration between say 1998 and 2001 Rock. Mighty, I think Rocks style of saying alot of words has to do with him trying to come off natural, not like Hogan where he talks slow and his interview sounds entirely scripted. Guest Downhome Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Every time I see Rocky now, I see Billy Zane.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted February 7, 2003 No The Rock doesn't say a lot of words. He says a lot of "umm.......umm....mmmmmm....." It's like he doesn't know what to say and he's thinking real hard. And you aren't the only one AustinHHH4Life. I totally agree with you.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Rocky gone hollywood...it takes him awhile now to think.
Guest Shanghai Kid 2003 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Ya perhaps his brain has diminished due to his transparency to Hollywood. - I hope that made sense.
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I thought Rock was awesome in his promo. Hogan barely got a word in edge-wise, which was great. Rock's new style is refreshing and it's entertaining to me, at least. And talking to that offscreen person was amusing. Nice touch.
Guest TheHulkster Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I thought both their promos were a bit lacking, but Hogan had somewhat of a handicap because he was trying to trade banter with a video taped earlier. It's not like he could respond directly to him or anything. Too much reliance on Hulkamania by Hogan and too much silence between sentences from the Rock kinda killed what could've been a great confrontation.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I liked how Rock would make a clear insult to wherever he was at and then talk to the offstage person and have some asinine reason for it. That was kinda funny.
Guest creativename Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I thought the Rock promo was tremendous, I was quite entertained by it--first Rock promo I've actually been entertained by in forever (compare it to his boring as sh*t Raw X promo). All the stuff about telling Hogan to essentially "get on with it" "rip your shirt, do your thing..." was exactly what he should have said; he was pushing the fans' buttons extremely well. Hogan on the other hand was terrible. I don't blame him for this though, as it is extremely difficult to cut a promo with a taped video. If Rock had been there live I'm sure Hogan would have done a better job.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I wish Hogan was channeling his 80s interview styles. He used to have so much energy back in the day. Now he seems to get winded and has much less to say.
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 I love Rock's new persona! "Get me some of that Tampa Bay Tofu!" I can already see the boos for Rock at NWO. Philly hated him...
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 What you have to remember is that Hogan's Promos isn't designed to go back and forth with other wrestlers...its usually one sided into the camera with Mean Gene.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Heel Rock is what made the Rock back in 98, i always liked him better as a heel and anyway his face run has been on life support since 2001. Now Hogan is nothing but a joke that's not funny anymore.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Is Hogan totally outmatched or what? Hogan's act is so forced. He is actually channeling his 80's interview style. I realized that when I heard "Hulk Hogan is back, JACK!"
Guest Bricks Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Did Hogan call Rock, "Rocket Jabroni"? What does that mean?!?!
Guest notJames Report post Posted February 7, 2003 He said "Rock of Jabroni", like it was a play on "Rock of Gibraltar". And yes, it makes no sense. Love that Hogan.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted February 7, 2003 'the rock of jabroni'. That's so bad I like it. Like Hogan in general. I haven't seen smackdown yet, but I'll use my imagination. 'whatcha gonna do..' 'IT DOESN'T..uh...line?'
Guest Bricks Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Oh okay. "Rock Of Jabroni". Wow! That's sooo much better. Great work, Hulk!

Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Well, he tried. *Shrugs* He could have done worse than Rock of Jabroni.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Rock is just so swarmy and schmoozy now with his words, it's a sight to behold. He's so awesome as a heel.
