Guest Matt Young Report post Posted February 7, 2003 *Marks out* Just when I thought there couldn't be anymore good concerts for this summer... Man, I'd love to see those bands. Audioslave sold out in St. Louis in like 5 minutes. All the other bands are awesome too, except Jurassic 5 (although they're tolerable). Seeing Jane's Addiction would kick 31 assorted flavors of ass. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Queens of the Stoneage would be the only reason I would consider making the trip to the show.

Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 7, 2003 Shit I'm defiantely checking this out. Its impossible to get tickets to the Audioslave show in a few weeks here, so this works for me. That lineup looks really strong to me. Very cool they are bringing this back, I would assume this was all Farell's doing since he started the Lollapallooza tour in the first place. First show I ever went to was this is 93, where RATM opened (!) and Primus and Alice and Chains headlined. Fuckin incredible day for sure.

That's the one I went to as well. That was awesome to see Rage live for the first time. I had never heard of them before then. I went to see Babes in Toyland and I ended up just talking about Rage all night. As far as this lineup, I don't think I'd be able to stay awake through one of those bands much less all of them. Guest B-X Report post Posted February 8, 2003 Knowing the types of bands they look for at Lollapalooza, who'd you want to show up Leth? I know you're deep into some good shit, so who'd you suggest be there?
Guest RedJed Report post Posted February 8, 2003 If I could change a few things, I'd rather just see the Foos instead of QOTA........also Jurrasic 5.........I would think they could get a better urban hip hop act than them.

I'd suggest that they get a time machine to go back about 10 years and get some of those bands again. haha If it was a lineup of only bands I like currently, it'd be a short line up that nobody else would like. Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Sounds good. I'm happy to hear that they're bringing back teh festival. Although, it wont be happenin anywhere near me, and I doubt I'll venture a trip to it somewhere, so meh.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 9, 2003 Think Metallica will be at this one too? **ducks garbage**
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I really fail to see the appeal of AudioSlave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age...they are no more alternative then Creed.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I could actually understand QOTSA on the bill as "alternative," because they are stoner rock, correct? Stoner rock isn't that HUGE of a style, with Queens Of The Stone Age and Fu Manchu being the only current names that many people can think of...and even Fu Manchu is stretching it. Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 10, 2003 Was Cheap Trick not available this year? Funny you say that...I saw them with Aerosmith a few months ago and they did better then they had any right to. Better then The ONE time I saw Incubus.

Guest godthedog Report post Posted February 10, 2003 I really fail to see the appeal of AudioSlave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age...they are no more alternative then Creed. a) alternative music is dead anyway, so a band couldn't be "alternative" now even if they tried to be. b) they have a hell of a lot more talent than scott stapp's circle jerkers. when i saw this thread title i immediately thought, "bad idea, there's no way they'd get any new good bands for this," but i'm gladly proven wrong. QOTSA and audioslave are fine to listen to, jane's addiction rules and incubus is the only current band that i really, really like.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted February 10, 2003 so far...better than Ozzfest

Although I've seen Incubus and Creed...Creed can play live twice as good as Monotone dull Incubus.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted February 11, 2003 a) alternative music is dead anyway, so a band couldn't be "alternative" now even if they tried to be. That ultimately depends on your definition of "alternative," I'd say. What I personally consider to be "alternative" music--and I'd never refer to it as such, because of the negative connotations--is most certainly not dead. I guess the problem, as far as the festival is concerned, is that there aren't many decent alternative acts that could headline this festival and draw crowds. If it was up to me, I'd start with System of a Down and work from there. But, really, with a minimal amount of effort, they could easily put together a lineup that's a little more diverse and would give exposure to deserving, underappreciated acts; as it stands, this is just a Monsters of Rock tour transplanted to the wrong decade. Ever listen to Clutch? They're probably the best example of that genre I can think of. Catchy as all get-out, goofball lyrics done in a really interesting way, fun riffs. I like 'em a lot. Guest notJames Report post Posted February 11, 2003 The only tie this Lollapalooza has with the original concept is the fact that Jane's is playing. Like it was said before, these bands are no more alternative than Creed or Limp Bizkit. The whole concept died the year they had Alice In Chains on the lineup. After that, it was simply a placemarker for that godawful abomination they called a Woodstock revival. Not to disparage the bands, but they should just change the name of the festival to "(Insert corporate sponsor) presents Yet Another Rock Festival and Product Placement Extravaganza". Perry Farrell should have known when to quit. Namely after the second one.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted February 14, 2003 "Ever listen to Clutch? They're probably the best example of that genre I can think of. " Clutch is great stuff, especially live see also Mondo Generator Nebula Kyuss NotJames i agree with you totally they should have let the concept rest "If I could change a few things, I'd rather just see the Foos instead of QOTA" lots of rumors the Foos will do either lolla or Ozzfest this year
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Foo Fighters at Ozzfest? They'd get booed off the stage, they aren't metal. I hope they do Lolla, that'd make the concert even better for me.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted February 14, 2003 im sure that the reaction for them might not be great but grohl has wanted to do it for a while
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Dave just wants to say "Hey, Look I WAS the star of Ozzfest" even if he opens on the Second stage. Foo Fighters fit with Lollapalaozza anyways...
