Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Goldmember not getting any nominations?? Well, that fuckin' sucks. I can't really make any predictions since, I've barely seen anything or heard of anyone on that list. But for Best Animated Feature I'm going with Monsters Inc. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Why on earth would you bring up Goldmember in an Oscar thread? This isn't the MTV Movie Awards here.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Monsters Inc. was already nominated and lost last year to Shrek, right?
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I'm just surprised that people are so surprised at the few nominations for The Two Towers. Do you honestly think that actors who had to run around, swing weapons, and occasionally deliver some really bad lines about elves and such are going to get nominated? I point this out particularly in a year when there are so many strong male performances across the board in "real" movies as perceived by the Academy voters. Of course, they kinda did it for Gladiator, so take what I say with a grain of salt. As for actual predictions...I don't see any dominant film this year. Probably Chicago for picture and director, unless they give it to Scorcese to make up for past misfires.

Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I haven't seen three of the nominated movies (The Pianist, Chicago, The Hours) so I am not sure who is going to win... well I think Chicago will get the nod here, but I can't say it is deserving until I see it. But hurray for Bowling for Columbine getting the nod for Best Documentry. That has to be the best movie I saw last year so far. And man, the History of America bit had me rolling. I also loved that Heston and dick Clark came out looking like complete jerks, as well.
