Guest MrRant Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 If this pitchfork place is where Inc and Kinetic go to look down upon us for not listening to a band that is supposedly really good but hasn't sold more then 25,000 albums then I will just stay away. Far away.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Because we all know that the more obscure something is, the better it must be. I'll pretend I didn't hear "Kylie Review" and "April Fools Day joke" in the same post. I don't really want to recognize that they probably sarcastically heaped praise upon it. You can't have guys who normally review indie or arty material review a Pop album without being complete and utter jackasses about it, I'm sure. Mostly because they'll hold the same standards for both, which is a big mistake.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Pitchfork is actually a cross-dresser's club. It's true. Some folk also use it to represent their favorite indie musicians. Instead of Elvis Presley impersonators, they have Elvis Costello impersonators. Things can get pretty sticky there, let me tell you. At any given moment, there's an orgy of three Costellos and a Bjork or two...
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 Oh, christ. Instead of being a whiny bitch about all the indie bullies beating up your precious pop, why don't you actually read the fucking review. It's a fairly serious work, and a POSITIVE one to boot. It was only an April Fools prank because it's a kind of music they rarely review. EDIT: And Rant, joking or not, the kind of willful ignorance displayed in your post is a perfect example of why so-called indie snobs look down on most mainstream music and their fans. Just saying.

Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted February 18, 2003 Report Posted February 18, 2003 The definition of music that sucks, is all music except the music I listen to. If it didn't suck, I would be listening to it. And then, by definition, it wouldn't suck.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Perhaps it was how it was described, you know. When I hear "prank," especially in reference to a review of something, it's usually totally sarcastic and merciless. Yes, it actually is a good review, kudos to the writer for looking at it objectively.
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 And I apologize for coming off so snippy.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Boy, I keep getting in spats and making up again today. First in CE about France and now this.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Since we're in NHB, I might as well ask; am I the only one that finds Kylie Minogue to be unattractive? I just don't get it, especially for someone to be as obsessed as Kotz happens to be..

Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 The hell was THAT supposed to mean?
Guest Flyboy Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 Since we're in NHB, I might as well ask; am I the only one that finds Kylie Minogue to be unattractive? No.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I'm not going to bite your head off for thinking that. Outward insulting is another matter. I just want to know what Inc's delayed smiley was all about.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I just want to know what Inc's delayed smiley was all about. It's him being Inc. Duh.
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 The hell was THAT supposed to mean? Being that many a poster has had fun taken potshots over an alleged unattractiveness in Ms. Minogue, I found it delightful that someone was in the dark whether he was the only one to find her less than hot.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 So basically you hazed him with a smiley?
Guest Eyeball Kid Posted February 19, 2003 Report Posted February 19, 2003 I love that smiley. I seek out any chance to use it.
