cawthon777 0 Report post Posted February 11, 2003 Anyone else pick this up yet? I believe it was about $45 at Wal-Mart. Longtime Buffy fan but I just got into Angel over the past few weeks. Felt it be best that I start with the beginning since I've only seen "I Will Remember You" from the first season (loved it). Haven't gotten into the special features yet but I saw the first two episodes. Gotta love Joss & Co.'s writing. Question for anyone who's pretty die-hard Buffy / Angel. At the end of the first episode, Angel called Buffy and hung up on her (classic ex behavior). Did that ever appear in a Buffy ep? It would be Season 4 of that series. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 11, 2003 If I had the cash I would pick it up...I'll have to wait a little while and hope Sams Club gets it
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 11, 2003 I don't really want to get Angel season 1 because I heard there's crossovers aplenty between that and Buffy Season 4, which I haven't seen all of yet. Should I wait until 4 then, or are the crossovers inconsequential?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Having seen both Buffy 4 & Season 1 of Angel.....I'm going to wait. The crossovers don't have nearly the same appeal without the first half. Dames
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I heard somewhere that the phone call does happen during a Buffy episode, but I can't remember which one.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I'll probably be getting this tomorrow, if I can head to Best Buy early enough. Quick question...at what point in Angel do the Buffy/Angel crossovers start? I should be getting most of Buffy season 4 by the end of the month (a friend is taping them off FX), but I'd like to start watching the first few episodes of Angel, and I want to know where to stop. FX skips a lot of episodes. This time around though they seem to be showing more episodes from season 4 than the last time they ran through it.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 The first episode of Buffy season 4 sees Buffy's phone ring in her kitchen and her answering it with a couple "Hello"s. Then hanging up. The Angel premier an hour later shows Angel making a call and you can hear Buffy's voice saying hello on the other end. Very cool when it actually happened one right after the other. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted February 12, 2003 It's not until the second season where the real genius begins. Season one would only be a good buy to see how dramatically they changed. Kate who?

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Was Fear Itself shown? I only missed one episode and that was "The Harsh Light of Day" Oh and that list is off because today's episodes were "The Initiative" and "Wild at Heart" Oh nevermind that's the morning episode schedule
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Having seen every Buffy ep multiple times, the crossover thing won't mess with my viewing, and if I feel like going back and forth I have every ep of Buffy on tape anyway. Even the unaired pilot
Guest kane3212321 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 The Unaired pilot is pretty bad, especially Willow. Thank god they changed her, I couldn't see the actress in that role playing the same character we have now.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Yeah, the original Willow gave such pathetic line readings and had horrible timing: X: "I'm having trouble with the math" (uncomfortable pause) Crappy Willow (looking stoned): "*Which* part?" X: "The math" as opposed to: X: "I'm having trouble with the math" Alyson Willow: "Oh, which part?" X: "The math" Gah! I wonder if she's still an actress. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 The Buffy / Angel crossovers begin in episode 3. That's the ep where.... SPOILERS Oz brings Angel the ring that will make him invincable (can be in daylight, can be staked, etc and nothing will kill him) and Spike comes to LA trying to get it back. Thank god they changed her, I couldn't see the actress in that role playing the same character we have now. Plus Alyson's cute...and this girl wasn't. I'm not saying it's a piece of acting at its finest...just cool to have
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I'm off to go watch the episode where Angel becomes human for a day. ... and to cry.
Guest raptor Report post Posted February 12, 2003 My hometown was WB-deprived, so I never saw Buffy or Angel unti they began running on FX. Needless to say, I fell in love with the show and have seen most of the episodes many times. When I began going to college at UofO, we got WB and I began watching Angel, and am currently enjoying it a great deal more than Buffy. So, after that rambling, yeah I bought it. I watched the first two episodes today, and I can say that they were both fantastic for freak-of-the-week episodes.
Guest Cavi Report post Posted February 12, 2003 I picked up the DVD yesterday. I already have the UK version, and this is exactly the same sans packaging (and region, of course), but I must have it nonetheless.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted February 12, 2003 Since someone is out to not let me see Angel due to VCR problems I can't comment on which I'm enjoying more right now. All I know is Buffy is having an awesome season right now and I need to buy the Angel DVD soon.
Guest Cavi Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Since I forgot to mention this in my last reply... I really did not care for the other Willow. Yes, I'm an absolutely huge mark for Aly, but this girl did not have chemistry with the other characters and her acting seemed blah.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Or Fat Willow as I like to refer to her as... I was ready to add that in my post:) was hoping someone else would first. Yes, that was fat Willow. Episode seemed even creepier by the fact that there was zero music at all in it.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I don't know which is worse - the lack of a soundtrack or the fact that the vamps turn into a big pile of sugar?
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 13, 2003 How did you guys see the pilot ep, anyways? It wasn't on the Season 1 dvd, as I haven't been with Buffy since the pilot.

And I really doubt it'll ever be officially released. The Angel pilot's out there too, but it's pretty much just an extended promo.
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Ah, makes sense. To Kazaa! Back to Angel...was the first season shot in widescreen? When did they start that?

Buddy of mine bought it at the flea market cause it had "The Wish" on it...the fact that the unaired pilot was on it was just a bonus. And I ran a copy off for myself...suprigingly good quality. Guest Cavi Report post Posted February 14, 2003 Back to Angel...was the first season shot in widescreen? When did they start that? Season Three was when they started shooting it in widescreen. As for the Buffy pilot, my sister got it a few years ago from a friend or something. Quality is pretty nasty, though the cap I took up above in that Willows pic I have isn't all that horrible.
