D'lo Brown Being Released

Recommended Posts

Guest BoboBrazil

D. Lo Brown has been told by WWE that he will be let go next month. Brown had been making an estimated $350,000 a year. He had recently been given a small push in the "Down with the Brown" storyline, but the company apparently didn't like where it was going enough to continue with it, and decided to let him go.

You know what is pathetic? They fired D'lo, but they still keep people like Demott and Albert.

They gave him plenty of TV time for his "down with the brown" crap, and now they release him. Meanwhile, a guy like Shane Helms isn't doing anything of note. Gotta love WWE.

Eh, he's better off in NWA-TNA. They can make a tag team with him and The Truth called The Cracka Killaz.

thats such bullshit.....

They bring Dlo back to some visability and even gave him da Masta Manager of Doom and the Skyscrapers Teddy Theodore Long..

Buttttt NOOOOO

I guess HHH wanted to buy a Pony for Stephanie or maybe a whole range and they cut him to pay for it.

What's the difference. The WWE wasn't using him, there was no point in keeping him around.

They gave him a mini-push.

He wasn't over at all.

Nobody cared about him.

And oh let's just blame Triple H for no reason cause HHHating is sooo cool.

The guy was dead weight and eating up a large chunk of payroll.

That's just it - he WAS getting over. When Raw was in DC about a week ago, there were plenty of pro-D-Lo fans. And plus, the gimmick had just begun - can't expect miracles overnight.

I'm not a big D-Lo fan by any means but at least he was making Raw a little more interesting.

He was making RAW interesting with his boring matches??

The gimmick wasn't entertaining but it wasn't going anywhere and the guy makes too much money to be kept around

That's the problem with the business today...everyone expects people to get gimmicks over almost overnight, given how ratings-driven the business has become. What happened to letting a guy grow into a gimmick?

Hell, they left guys like Skinner, the Berzerker, and Sparkplug Holly out there for months, even years, even after knowing the gimmick wasn't getting over.

I think this was more of a salary issue then anything.

D-Lo was making way too much money and it's a smart move to cut him.

I really don't care about D-Lo, never got into him, but I would have tried to renegotiate as opposed to just release. Just let him know he would need to take a MASSIVE pay cut.

No, it wasn't a smart move to cut him.

A smart move would have been to,

A: Cut him a while back when he wasn't on TV.

or

B: Ask him to take a pay cut.

Whats smart about cutting a guy who has recently come back to TV with a new angle/manager without giving it a chance to get over?

Dlo Was a Smark Darling so maybe they thought the run would be successful.

and when it wasn't helping in practice they swatted him, for the very money issues others here say. Because its a chunk of change for a Nonpopular Wrestler to be making when he isn't even on TV most of the time.

Goody. More airtime for a certain somebody.

Once again, a wrestler is going to get punished because the creative team sucks. That's a shame.

Why can't the just resign him to a smaller contract? It would still be more than any other wrestling company could pay him. They did the same thing with Saturn. If they want to cut dead weight who make way too much money, then they should look at Mark Henry and Big Daddy Quadtear.

Honestly, that just seems stupid to me. Axe him, fair enough, but dont push him when you know you are going to cut him because he costs too much.

Why put an angle out there that you know has little chance of success, when you know you arnt going to make it long term anyway.

They did a similar thing with Raven. Build him up. Bring him back to prime time TV and the sack him. WTF?

If you want to test an angle out, isnt that what Velocity and Heat are for?

ChUnK!

Isn't there something in Mark Henry's contract where he is guaranteed his whole deal or something even if they do fire him. If that is the case you might as well keep him on file just in case a miracle happens.

WHY did they think Mark Henry would be such a sure thing? I mean, I know this is Vince, we're talking about, but...

It was the same as the Raven angle...he had this great Masterpiece thing...and what was it???

He got Canned!

I personally thought the gimmick they gave D'lo was crap, and his wrestling wasn't particularly entertaining, but there are plenty of other guys doing less and are far more worthless still on the payroll.

In the case of Mark Henry, I think it would be almost worthwhile to deliberately breach the contract and hire Johnny Cochran to go to court with the Chewbacca defense, and hope to get off.
