Guest BoboBrazil Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 -Evan "Joe Millionaire" Marriott was on the Howard Stern Radio show this morning and talked about his wrestling background. PWTorch.com reader Joe Butler of Staten Island, N.Y. writes: Marriott talked about various topics including wrestling. Here is a brief synopsis of what was said... Marriott admitted he was a professional wrestler in California, and said he dropped from 240 to 205 lbs. for the show. Marriott old the cast of the show he got out of wrestling once Vince McMahon bought WCW and ECW folded. He said that there were so many others waiting in line ahead of him for jobs that he didn't think he had a chance. Marriott said he had the greatest respect for professional wrestler's and that anyone who didn't believe that they were real athletes had never been in a ring and should go in and see what its like. Admitted he was recently contacted by WWE/Vince about appearing , but could not come to an agreement due to differences in the storyline. He stated they wanted him to come in with the "Joe Millionaire" character and wrestle women, specifically Trish Stratus. He told them that they wanted him to "throw her around the ring for a while" and then after a while, realize what he was doing was wrong. There was also to be some involvement with Ric Flair in the angle. The rest of the show consisted of some Q&A of people trying to catch him in a lie about his background and IQ test against one of the cast members "KC." pwtorch.com
Mecha Mummy Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Evan Marriott IS Andy Kaufman! No thanks. Joe might be able to wrestle, but Kaufman did it best and nobody can compare. If he wants to go Ted DiBiase, however, I would have no problems.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Ric Flair must be counting his blessings that that never went through.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 *I'm* counting my blessings that never went through
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 I heard him on Stern this morning and that dude was a retard! He was asked what was 12 X 13 and he said 25. I think the dude was just making that shit up to get some attention after that show is over.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 ...........................*whew* Good thing no deal was made, because that dumbass shouldn't be in WWE.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Ric Flair must be counting his blessings that that never went through. Yeah, 'cause his current gimmick of standing around like a fuck and sucking the dicks of Orton, HHH and Batista is really doing wonders for his legacy.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Being a manager can be a prestigious job. I admit managing HHH isn't anything to be proud of but I wouldn't consider the jobs that Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart and others to be a dick sucking job. If they gave him the stick more, he'd be able to help get over guys like Orton and Batista.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Ric Flair must be counting his blessings that that never went through. Yeah, 'cause his current gimmick of standing around like a fuck and sucking the dicks of Orton, HHH and Batista is really doing wonders for his legacy. At least that makes him involved w/ actual wrestlers, as opposed to a "celebrity" beating up women.
Guest buffybeast Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Good lord, Joe Millionaire a wife beater? How stupid is that storyline or what? I would have turned that shit down, too. Who comes up with this shit?
Guest Space_Cowboy Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 So now the WWE are resorting to bringing in "celebrities", they really are following WCW's formula for failure, how long until Dennis Rodman, Jay Leno and David Arquette are brought in.

Guest Ram Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Joe wrestled in highschool and did some indie work. I'd figure you guys would cream over that like you did Charlie Haas.
JasonX Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Good lord, Joe Millionaire a wife beater? How stupid is that storyline or what? I would have turned that shit down, too. Who comes up with this shit? No, what they were talking about would be a mysoginist gimmick and not a wife-beater gimmick.

But that's not how he'd be handled/hyped in the angle.

Being a woman beater hasn't hurt Stone Cold's career at all.
