Guest GameCop Report post Posted February 15, 2003 kobe took 41 shots in this game; he made 19. The Lakers failed to make a statement against the Spurs, and they're still 1/2 game back for the eight playoff spot. As far as I'm concerned, Kobe only cares about his stats, not the Lakers' well being.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 15, 2003 How about those Spurs. Tim Duncan 20 rebounds. That's 7 straight wins all on the road.

Guest Deebo Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Kobe only cares about stats? HAHHAA... Kobe is the only damn reason the Lakers are above .500 right now. He single handedly carried them on the 7 game win streak. Kobe haters are great.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted February 15, 2003 I don't like Kobe, but I have to back him here. Of course he should take the most shots. He's the best player on the team. What's he gonna do? Pass to Rick Fox? You might as well hand it to Tim Duncan. As for only caring about stats, I think almost all players, given the choice, will take the win first. Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted February 15, 2003 How many passes and assists Kobe does in a game... About 1/4 of his points is him being loafing around.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Best player on the team, my ass. He didn't get shit done without Shaq eariler this year and now that he's gone on this hot streak, everybody's already sucking him off again. Take Shaq away from the Lakers and Kobe won't get them to the playoffs all by his lonesome unless Houston totally bombs out.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Kobe went 19/41...he's only interested in getting as many points per game as possible.
Guest Paranoid Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Like I was saying earlier in the season, the Lakers will make the playoffs and will win a 4th ring. They are still the best team in the league, they just don't play like it all the time.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Like I was saying earlier in the season, the Lakers will make the playoffs and will win a 4th ring. They are still the best team in the league, they just don't play like it all the time. They still haven't proven that they can beat the upper level teams yet. I'll believe it when they beat the Spurs or the Kings. And before you say that they beat Dallas, I don't consider Dallas an upper level team yet either. A combined 1 - 3 this year against the Spurs, Lakers, and Kings shows me that the Mavericks aren't ready to take the step yet. Also two of the Lakers 7 wins were against the Nuggets. Anbody but the Cavs should've won those games.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 15, 2003 Kobe had about 5 Triple Doubles this season, which included 14 or so assist every time! The problem with the Lakers is that Shaq waited to long to get the foot surgery, and that is the reason they are losing. The whole triangle offense of Zen Master Jackson is not working because the rest of the team is not doing their part, where is the 3 point specialist, and where is the Horace Grant player? As for the Lakers being the best losing team in the league, well I heard that same arguement from the NFL St Louis Rams fanboys and press, look what happen there. EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Kobe is overrated. Without Shaq, he'd be triple teamed and he wouldn't have a shadow of a chance... And who's that I hear creeping up in the distance? The Warriors? You heard me...they've beaten the Lakers. Twice. They proved it, and they are playing with nothing to lose at all. The Lakers have too much pressure with Kobe and such, the Rockets have too much pressure with Yao...but the Warriors...don't be surprised if they come up in playoff talks in the upcoming weeks... Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Kobe is overrated. Without Shaq, he'd be triple teamed and he wouldn't have a shadow of a chance... I HATE this bullshit argument... People always forget that w/o Shaq there would be $120 million to sign someone to play w/ Kobe (perhaps Duncan or Garnett). It's not like Shaq went out w/ a million dollar center behind him, and the Lakers couldn't win. The team was without 40% of it's offense...

Anbody but the Cavs should've won those games. I guess you missed it when the Lakers beat the Kings at Arco Arena like two weeks ago. The fact is this.. Kobe HAD to shoot 41 times. Shaq was having a horrible game and was in foul trouble and nobody else on the Lakers is a scoring threat. If you took Shaq off the Lakers, of course they wouldn't make the playoffs.. look at the damn team you'd have. The Lakers would have Samaki Walker, one of the worst Power Forward's in the NBA having to play Cener. I don't know why everyone makes some big deal about Kobe having Shaq on his team, but nobody says anything about Jordan and Pippen, Magic and Kareem, Bird and Parrish, Russell and Cousy, Wilt and West. NOBODY WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS BY THEMSELVES.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted February 16, 2003 The Kings were without Chris Webber at that visit. The other big name team LA beat in that win streak was Indiana, who was without Ron Artest and Isiah Thomas.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 16, 2003 I wouldn't brag too much about that Laker win in Arco... The Kings were without Webber and Bobby Jacksion (who made his return against the Sonics) So Let's see what happens the next meeting when the Kings are at full strength. But I think the Lakers will not win that fourth ring this year. They have no bench. Shaq pulled one of the most bone-headed moves by not opting for surgery on his toe until right before the pre-season. Because of this, the Lakers have had to play catch up, which is going to drain them. And with the new rule change, they will now have to play a best of seven series in the first round, against the Kings or Mavs or Spurs. And that is not exactly the optimal first round opponant. Plus, I hate how the Lakers sometimes fall asleep in their games... the great teams would never let the Knicks almost come back, like the Lakers almost did a few nights ago. I think that the Lakers have grown too confident, and they are headed towards watching the finals at home. Of course that is why they play the game, but I am not impressed with the Lakers as a team. Shaq and Kobe are great,, but the rest of the team is a joke... props to Doug Christie punching the most annoying player in the league (Rick "Im a bitch" Fox)
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Kobe is overrated. Without Shaq, he'd be triple teamed and he wouldn't have a shadow of a chance... How would Kobe being triple teamed if Shaq was out make him overrated?
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted February 16, 2003 God, I love these Kobe Haters. When the lakers win, they dont say shit, but when the Lakers are losing they love to talk shit. Kobe selfish? My ass! Kobe is trying to win games with one of the worst roleplayers of all time. Shaq is not in shape, so who has to take the brunt of the scoring. If Kobe was not "selfish" the Lakers would be in last place right now. I mean these are the same people that said Iverson and Jordan are selfish. Bullshit! Hes helping his team win games and if thats wrong I dont wanna be right. And to the people who said the Lakers wont win a fourth championship I have the words of Rudy T: NEVER underestimate the HEART of a CHAMPION P.S. Rick "Bitch" Fox? If its okay to say you're scared in the most important moment in your career and choke in Overtime of the 7th game of WCF like Doug Chiristie than i'd rather be wrong. all Christie did was a cheap shot to try to prove he was a real man. Doug Chritie is a bitch and a half.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted February 16, 2003 And to the people who said the Lakers wont win a fourth championship I have the words of Rudy T: NEVER underestimate the HEART of a CHAMPION Yeah, it's just that when Rudy T. was making his championship runs, Houston didn't choke against every single big time team that was at full strength. Hell, didn't NJ spank them both games this year? P.S. Well actually it wasn't a cheap shot... Fox put his hand all over Christie's face, and Christie slugged him. If any one puts their hand in my face, I would slug him too. And what is up with Fox going over to the King's tunnel to start shit again? He deserved that seven game suspension. And no, I am not a Kobe or Shaq basher, I think they are great. My only critiscism is that Kobe ball hogs too much, and Shaq didn't opt for toe surgery and tends to make dumb comments. And I just think Fox is a bitch, plain and simple. He is the Laker I can't stand. That had nothing to do with Game seven. I am sure if you were to ask many of the NBA players in confidentiality, my feeling is that many of them would say that they were happy Christie slugged him. Also, that shows that Christie won't be sacred this time around. The Kings aren't going to be scared this time around. Or for that matter neither will the Spurs. Also, do you really think that Kobe can keep up this frentic pace he is on. He will be runnning on fumes by the playoffs come around.
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Im in the minority that loves Rick Fox. I love the way he plays, he gets in his oppenents face. I love how he shut down Peja S. during the Lakers first 2 playoff runs. He reminds he a little of Isiah Thomas without all the talent. If Rick Fox was on your favorite team then you would love him too. Also, where did Fox get all the thug labels from? Ive been following the Lakers since Magic retired in 91 (too little to remember the Magic days) and since Fox has been with the Lakers he hasnt been very thuggish to me. And yes it was a cheap look at the video, you could see Chrisitie do a little cheap undercut while the two were close to each other. It not Rick Fox thats afraid of clutch moments like Christie is. Christie was trying to prove himself to the world that he was a real man who better to do it against the the man who called his little punk ass out.
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted February 17, 2003 A combined 1 - 3 this year against the Spurs, Lakers, and Kings shows me that the Mavericks aren't ready to take the step yet. 1-4, actually. They lost to the Kings twice. I'd go ahead and throw Portland in there too and say 1-5.

Yeah, but Shaq didn't play. Just more proof that it doesn't matter how many points Kobe scores, if Shaq isn't there, they ain't gonna win.
Guest Still Fly Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Um Alfdogg before you start speaking out your ass again, the lakers beat the kings and blazers once. So agiant the best of the west they are 3-4. So get your facts straight before you go off on a little tangent. Ok? And whats with al the Laker hate, its like Kobe and Shaq stole something from you guys
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted February 17, 2003 Alfdogg was talking about Dallas, not the Lakers. As for the Laker hate, I've ALWAYS hated the Lakers ever since I was 5. I was so happy when they got the shit kicked out of them against Detriot in the 90 Finals.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted February 17, 2003 I have never really liked the Lakers also. Back in the 80's I was always pulling for the Celtics. I am also from the Bay Area, so I always pull for all of the Bay Area teams, hence why I am big Warrior's fan. And I attended a King's playoff game a few years back, had a great time, loved the crowd's enthusiasm, so I have also been a King's fan as well. I have stated, I don't like how the Laker's play basketball. I hate teams who push the button. If you are a champion, play 48 minutes. Not a quarter here and there. But, the Lakers have now lost two in a row. Shaq did sit out last night's game, but they still lost to the Knicks, a team that isn't even a Eastern Confrence playoff team at the moment. This just shows how valuable both Kobe and Shaq are to the Lakers. And it also shows how much of a joke the rest of the Lakers are. And don't think that anyone in the Western Confrence are going to trade anybody to the Lakers this season, also. The Lakers are in deep trouble, and if anyone out there thinks that they are going to have an easy time 4-peating, is gravely mistaken.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 17, 2003 I have never really liked the Lakers also. Back in the 80's I was always pulling for the Celtics. The Laker's from the 80's are nothing like today's teams. They ran a fast break offense up temp offense for 48 minutes. There was a full effort the entire game. I do agree that the Laker's don't play hard has much as they do.
