Guest Karnage Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 So, which companies you think make the best and worst games right now? I think the best right now is Sega. The sports games are tops, Panzer Dragoon Orta looks amazing and most of their games never dissapoint. The worst has to be Jaleco. They look like one of those DVD companies who release public domain movies to make a quick buck.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 For Sports game, I'd say EA Sports. I'd give my life if EA Sports were going to shut down, just so I could spread the joy to other fans.
Guest razazteca Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Capcom Worst: Atari, they never really did anything good since the 80s
Guest Kingpk Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best - I'd have to go with EA on the sports side and countless other good developers out there in other genres. Worst - 989 Studios: they butchered the Twisted Metal series and still think the Gameday franchise is still worth keeping, even though it gets smoked in reviews and sales by Madden and the NFL 2K series.
Guest fazzle Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Either EA or Nintendo Worst: Who makes those 5000 Army Men games? Yeah, them.
Guest T®ITEC Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 From back in the day.. I really disliked LJN's style for pretty much everything. Did they make any really good games? I'm pretty sure that they're just out of business now, anyway. So is Atari, I guess.
Guest MrRant Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Either EA or Nintendo Worst: Who makes those 5000 Army Men games? Yeah, them. 3DO
Guest Lightning Flik Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Nintendo & Sega Worst: Capcom, Atari, 3DO, and I'd have said Konami but they are working out of Worst.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Namco, Capcom, Konami, Activision Worst: 3DO, 989, Acclaim, Midway
Guest redbaron51 Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: EA, Bungie, Sega, Konami Worst: Acclaim, THQ
Yuna_Firerose Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best: Squaresoft, Rockstar [whoever made GTA], Capcom, THQ Worst: Team Soho [Getaway]
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Best - tri-Ace, Gamearts, Square, Enix Worst - Stuff
Guest wwF1587 Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 BEST: EA, Square, Rockstar WORST: Acclaim, 3DO
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 From now on Acclaim is only to be referred to as "Ack, Lame!" So let it be written... so let it be done.
Yuna_Firerose Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 What games did Acc--uh, "Ack, Lame!" make that were so bad?
Guest razazteca Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 just curious but are Namco, Bally Midway, Tengen all part of Atari Corporation?
Guest Renegade Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 I dont think Namco and Midway are.
Guest ElectricRaccoon Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 What games did Acc--uh, "Ack, Lame!" make that were so bad? Dozens of really shitty movie tie-in games, mostly. They were at their worst during the Super NES/Genesis era, when they basically had one or two template platform/action titles and inserted random movie characters into them. Other than a few occasional flukes, the best they've done is mediocre-to-good, and even those are few and far between.
Guest TheHulkster Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 some of the games that have recently came out under the Atari label have been alright. Not really great, yet not unplayable. Acclaim slips out of the worst category because I thought Burnout 2 kicked ass. Best: Capcom Worst: THQ (Acclaim comes out with bad games, but besides smackdown, i defy you to find a THQ game that isn't absolute shit)

Best: Capcom Worst: THQ (Acclaim comes out with bad games, but besides smackdown, i defy you to find a THQ game that isn't absolute shit) Red Faction and Red Faction 2 I stand corrected. Acclaim is the shittiest developer by default. THQ comes out with a whole lot of shit though.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Wasn't Revenge, No Mercy and WM2000 made by THQ?
Guest T®ITEC Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Yes, they were made by THQ. Acclaim, on the other hand, produced ECW Hardcore Revoution.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Worst: THQ (Acclaim comes out with bad games, but besides smackdown, i defy you to find a THQ game that isn't absolute shit) THQ also released my favorite game of the moment: Pride FC. However, this is more of Anchor Inc learning what Crave Entertainment could not and actually improving upon the UFC fighting engine. Good: Capcom, Sega, EA Bad: Acclaim, 3DO However, If we're talking pure game developers, AKI owns all, bah gawd.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Rockstar shouldn't be in the Best Category.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 What have they produced that's so great? GTA: VC? GTA III? Max Payne? I would not consider any of those games "great". Entertaining, yes, but not great. Rockstar Games is medicore at best.
Guest razazteca Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 But the trend these days is make one good game then make into a franchise with sequals or updates every year.
Guest fazzle Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Plus Rockstar released the steaming shitbomb that was State of Emergency
