Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Report by Double J Just got back from the Smackdown brand house show in Winnipeg. Looked to be a pretty big crowd, probably between 8,000-10,000. 1st Match- Big Show and Paul Heyman vs. Brock Lesnar. Started with Heyman interupting the ring announcer to cut down Winnipeg I think, couldn't really hear too well. Big Show came out next and then Brock to start the match. Heyman wasn't involved in the match at all. Show controlled the start of the match until Lesnar made the comeback. Lesnat won but didn't use the F5. He was about to leave but came back to F5 Heyman. 2nd Match- Matt Hardy vs. Kanyon. Hardy was the face and Kanyon the heel. Hardy got the victory here. 3rd Match- Jamie Noble w/Nidia vs. Billy Kidman (Cruiser Title). Not much to report, Kidman won but no Shooting Star Press. 4th Match- John Cena vs. Sean O'Haire. Cena came out and did his freestyle. He cut down Winnipeg and Canada from what I could hear. Got some good heat for that. O'Haire came out wearing a long, black trench coat and looked pretty cool. They went back and forth and Cena got the win with a rollup and pulling O'Haire's tights. 5th Match- Team Angle vs. Los Guerreros vs. Rey Mysterio and Rikishi (Tag Title Match). Good 3 way elimination match. Team Angle got a loud "You Suck" chant while their entrance music played. For some reason Eddie was over HUGE in Winnipeg. Los Guerreros were the first to get eliminated and then Team Angle beat Mysterio and Rikishi. After the match Rikishi got 2 kids into the ring and they danced with 'Kish and Rey. Big pop for that, especially when one of the kids did the worm! 15 minute intermission 6th Match- A-Train vs. Chris Benoit (Canada vs. US Match) A-Train got on the mic and talked how Benoit got lucky Thursday on Smackdown and said something about Canadians, couldn't hear much. Pretty much the same match they did on Smackdown. Benoit got the win. 7th Match- Dawn Marie vs. Torrie Wilson (Bra and Panties Match) Funaki was the special guest referee, he talked about being the #1 Smackdown announcer and how he liked Winnipeg. Similar to the match they had on Smackdown just without the sequence of pinning combinations. Torrie got the win which was really a shame. 8th- Kurt Angle vs. Chris Jericho (Canada vs. US, WWE Title Match) Angle got the most heat of the night. Very loud "You Suck" chant for his entrance music. Obviously Jericho was totally over, I've never heard cheers so loud in all my life! He came out wearing a Jets jersey that said Selanne on the back, of course that the fans loved it. Just as the match was starting, two guys in the crowd started to fight. Jericho grabbed the mic and told them if they didn't stop he was going to make them out to the ring and apologies to all the fans. Great match. Back and forth with Angle mostly on the offence. Finish came with Team Angle distracting Jericho giving Angle the rollup win. After the match, Team Angle did a 3 on 1 beat down until Benoit made the save. Overall it was an awesome card, best one Winnipeg has had yet. Credit: lordsofpain.net
Guest tpww7 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Sounds like a real good house show, and 8,000 - 10,000? Wow.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Benoit saving Jericho at the end, how cool is that?
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 I daresay I wish I could have seen that Angle/Jericho title match. With f'ing BENOIT making the save? Those people got quite a treat.
Guest TheCynicalHateMongerFromHell Report post Posted February 16, 2003 If Jericho moved to Smackdown! all the internet fans would be drooling over him again. He is top 3 as far as entertainers in the company. If you go to a house show, he works extra hard to entertain the fans. If given an average opponant, he can make it a highly entertaining match. Sure he blows spots occasionally, and he isn't very consistent - but his best matches are superb.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted February 16, 2003 If Jericho moved to Smackdown! all the internet fans would be drooling over him again. I don't think they ever stopped. I always hear about how he tries his hardest to make RAW somewhat watchable.
Guest tpww7 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 I'm all for Jericho going to SD. Maybe we could trade him for Nathan Jones or something.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Jericho is the most entertaining guy on Raw, so tht means he should go to Smackdown i want more Benoit vs. Jericho!
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Raw is such a lost cause now...I don't know if I want good names added to improve the show, or take the good names out and save them from HHH
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 If Chris Jericho, Christian, Hurricane, and Stevie were to go to SD!, then Raw would be worthless.
Guest tpww7 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 You forgot RVD, Booker and Goldust.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2003 Geez, how could I forget RVD? Oh yeah...it's hard to think when you have about five cats attacking your plate. *chuckles* Ah well...I was done....I think. So, the complete list is Jericho, Christian, Hurricane, RVD, Stevie, Goldust [who I think should be more of a manager role], and Booker. If all those went to SD, then Raw would be a completely worthless show.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Report post Posted February 17, 2003 I'm all for Jericho going to SD. Maybe we could trade him for Nathan Jones or something. Raw trades Jericho to Smackdown in exchange for A-Train, Big Show, Nathan Jones, and Rikishi. A smart mark wet dream.
