T.A.T.u CD comments

Recommended Posts

here are my comments..

The English songs:

"Not gonna get us" turned out good in English. "All the things she said" is a song I've heard since last August. "Show me love" is pretty good. "30 minutes" isn't as good. The 80s cover song (I forget the title) was very good. Clowns was.. odd and good. Malichi Boy (or as it's called in English, Gay Boy) was weak.

The Russian Songs:

Nas de degonat (not gonna get us) was pretty good in Russian

The Russian "All the Things she said" is pleasant

and then the extended "Show me love" is like the first one, but longer.

I give it 3 out of 5. Tatu could use some more songs on their next CDs

I just like looking at those lovely lipstick lesbians...Techno sucks

Tatu = POP, NOT TECHNO. Bite your tongue. They're Pop, plain and simple. Pop is great and I love it too, but never EVER confuse Pop with Techno.

And, to adress your post more directly, techno does not suck, nor are Tatu really lesbians.

The "How Soon is Now" cover is just horrible. "Robot," on the other hand, is quite pleasant.

I do not like the fact that the included Russian songs are simply the original lyrics with the newer english production/arrangements. "Not Gonna Get Us" has just a couple small changes (outside of vocals, obviously), while "All The Things She Said" has quite a few more. I guess it doesn't matter to the people who have never heard otherwise, but I think they should have included the original "Nas Ne Dogoniat" and "Ya Soshla S Uma" instead. In fact, pretty much all of the songs saw changes in one way or another. Some fairly minor ("Show Me Love"), some radical ("Malchick Gay", which went from being a dance track to that blah stuff).

Ah well, I'd rather just listen to the Russian CDs I have anyway since they include songs which didn't make the english release.

So? They're hot.

I wasn't taking away from the psuedo-lesbian antics, but just pointing out that they were indeed pseudo lesbian antics.

Blasphemy.

Sorry, amigo...but I only watch the video for the black haired girl. And you can tell by the way they "make out" in the video they're really not into each other as girlfriends...maybe girls that are friends, but you know what I mean

Okay, I'll take the redhead then.

Cavi is correct, their Russian material is much more enjoyable, and has more variety.

Their English lyrics have become so irritating to me that I can only stand to listen to them in Russian. Damn fake lesbians are getting on my nerves. Meh.

I *do* really enjoy their Russian tracks, though. I never thought that the Russian language would come off so well in music.

So, what does T.A.T.u stand for? I'd like to know, because I'm always correcting people that call them "tattoo".

An abbreviation of the slang phrase "Ta liubit etu," which means "this girl loves that girl." Incidentally, in Russia it's often written T.A.T.y.; the "oo" sound being represented in the Cyrillic alphabet with a "y."

What's wrong with pronouncing anagrams as words? Otherwise, we'd need to call KISS "Kay Eye Ess Ess," and GWAR "Gee Double-U Eh Are."

Having downloaded All the Thing She Said, Nas de degonat, and Ya Soshla S Uma before, I was really disappointed with the CD. It was really half assed and it showed. They should just released a Russian album. German didn't hurt Rammstein, and the had the whole lesbian angle to sell it. Has to be my most disappointing purchase ever.

The Smiths should never be covered. Ever.

It's just because KISS and GWAR don't have periods between the letters in their names. Like T.A.T.u always does.

That's the only reason... I'm just really ghey like that.

And thanks, redfile; it's been bothering me.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to cover The Smiths, but I wish someone would do it well for a change. I've not yet heard the T.A.T.u version of "How Soon Is Now?" but I can't imagine it being good. Doesn't anyone ever cover any of their other songs?

It actually seems that "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" is the most covered Smiths song (covered by Muse, Third Eye Blind, Hootie & the Blowfish, Halo Benders, and others). "There Is a Light that Never Goes Out" also seems to have a long history of being covered; as does "This Charming Man" and "Bigmouth Strikes Again." I'd've thought that "Asleep" would've been covered by now, but I can't find any covers of it.

The "How Soon Is Now" covers just seem to get more attention than the others.

Everyone should be covered. I just wish people would do better jobs with the covers than they usually do.

I agree with Flyboy. Russian rapping is awesome. Then again, I enjoy people rapping in a lot of foreign languages, so maybe I am biased.

"techno" = pop version of electronica. usually sucks compared to real electronica. most of the "techno" you listen to kotz is really electronica. just saying :)

I have a friend from Russia.

Do you think she'd have a clue what the hell the rapping is?
