Angel Season One on DVD...

Recommended Posts

I haven't watched ANY Angle episodes, but I love Buffy. I have read that both shows are equal in quality, so is it worth a buy?

Yeah, it's worth it. If you want to get into the show, might as well start from the beginning (plus, you get to see the crossover eps). Both shows have their own feel though, which is good in my mind.

Wait a second Cavi...keep in mind that Buffy Season 4 isn't out in the U.S. Not everyone has region free DVD players like yourself.

Mole, Angel Season 1 is definitely worth a buy, however, there are a few Buffy/Angel crossovers that lose its effect since you'll only be able to see the 2nd half. I'm not going to buy Angel til Buffy Season 4 is out in June just to preserve them.

Oh, true, true, Dames. I hadn't thought of that. But yeah, if you haven't seen Buffy Season Four, or just want to watch everything in order, you might want to wait it out.

I couldn't wait. I bought Angel anyway. Then again, I've seen Buffy 4 and Angel 1 in order, so I've already gotten the effect of the crossovers.

Personally, I like Angel better than Buffy, but the DVD doesn't give the "previously-on" clips, and when you get to the first crossover (episode 3), you really don't know what's going on or why certain characters from Buffy are suddenly in LA.

I guess you may as well wait for Buffy 4 to come out, Mole

That really bugs me about the Fox DVD's. None of the Buffy seasons so far have them and neither did 24. I can understand 24 because the previously's should have been the episode before it, but for certain Buffy episodes they go back a few season to remind you of things and if you don't have a good memory or aren't a die hard fan, you may not catch things right away.

That's the one thing that the HBO DVD's like Soprano's and Oz have over the rest. They may be expensive and overpriced, but at least they have the original previously and upcoming episode previews.

I imagine I'd get a bit tired of them over and over again, though I will say that if the Buffy Season 5 DVD doesn't have that awesome 100 episode 'Previously' before "The Gift," I will be mega-pissed.

There's actually at least one 'Previously' on the Season 2 DVD, though, on the first ep. It recaps the first season and especially the finale which is nice for those of us who decided to skip the 12-ep set.

If you do buy the season 1 DVD set, make sure to skip I Fall to Pieces and The Ring. Two of the most craptacular hours of TV ever.

Are you talking about the Region 1 DVD for Buffy Season 2, because I never noticed any season recap.

Hey i liked The Ring. I fall to pieces sucked. The thing is, half the season was meant to be a serial show (each epsidoe is self contained) and then in the middle decided to go the whole contining story type. hat why certain characters left and certain characters joined(don't want to spoil anything for anyone). Neverthe less, its a damn good season, having some of my favorite angel epsidoes in it.Wish there were more special features though.

EDIT: Glen Quin died? Fuck! I always though he was a damn good actor. But to answer your question he was the certain one who left and the other certain character came in because they thought he had more of a link to Angel's past, etc.

I heard that there were problems with the studio and Glenn Quinn over his contract, but apparently those were rumors and he was supposed to leave regardless.

First you steal my woman then you steal Glenn Quin's job and send him into depression which led to his death (go with me here)???

Wesley's a dead man.

Definitely, Dames. I've never seen season 1 before, but at least on "When She Was Bad," there's first a little thing with a Giles voiceover that talks about the slayer for around 10 seconds, and then a recap of "Prophecy Girl." Shows Buffy dying, getting resuscitated, and throwing the Master through the roof of the library, leaving him to disintegrate.

It's mostly just so "When She Was Bad" makes sense to anybody who hasn't seen season 1, but it's there.

He's dead? Damn.

I guess I can now lose all hope of Doyle coming back.
