Halloween 9 - Just Been Greenlit

Those "Halloween" fans will be happy. The rumoured "Halloween 9" has just been greenlit, with the studio now on the hunt for a director, writer and cast. According to an insider at Moviehole, the film will be released in time for Summer 2004. "Halloween Resurrection" may have only done moderate business but Miramax are apparently confident enough to unleash another sequel - and are determined not to see the franchise be a direct to video offering.

WhatDVD magazine also reports on what could be the possible storyline for the next film. "It will be set two years after Resurrection and involve the old 'movie within a movie' plot," says the trade. "A director makes a film based on Mike Myers' bloody activities, but Mr Halloween himself - who has escaped from the morgue - is none too pleased about it and decides to chop up those responsible (everyone's a critic)."

Sounds like they're going for the Freddy Vs. Jason approach. Last year, Halloween: Resurrection earned $30.4 million at the box office. Thanks to 'Clint' for the heads up.

Now I'm always up for a Halloween Film, but after Resurrection, it's time for them to stop.

NO MORE BUSTA RHYMES!

I doubt Busta will be in it...but what is with these new ideas for the series? They're getting away from the concept of the character completely.

Sounds like pure shit.

I'll still see it though, cuz I'm a Halloween mark. Damn Mustapha Akkad.

What happened to the planned Halloween III? It was to take place between II and IV, and the the TRUE III instead of the crap they released instead. I guess it got canned, oh well.

Why would Michael keep killing? According to how they tried to explain it in Halloween 6, wouldn't Michael have stopped killing people after the first few minutes of the last movie?

There still hasn't been any mentions of what happened to John.

Does he even know what happened to Laurie...

The last Halloween movie < horse shit

Halloween 1 is a classic; I can still get into that. II is okay, if for nothing more than developing Jaime Lee Curtis' character and her relationship with Michael. The rest are fodder for cable horror movie marathons.

Well if they can't get Busta, maybe they can try for Ja-Rule or Jay-Z (major sarcasm).

Halloween III was good, yo. Just didn't belong in the series. A Michael Myers Halloween III would still be better than 9.

What I don't understand is what they mean by saying that this movie is going for the "Freddy Vs. Jason approach."

So which rapper will predictably live through this one?

This is what bugs me more about horror movies. They put in a rap or R&B star and don't kill them just to get the teens in the crowd...just bothers me.

YNA...the funniest response I've ever heard from a movie crowd was during Romeo Must Die. When DMX is shot and killed all of the women in the theater started screaming and carrying on like they saw they're own mother dying in front of them. I couldn't help but laugh...

9 is how many people will go see this movie.

HAHAHAHA! I hate horror movies, and I'm not going to go see this movie (I've never seen any of these movies), but that's not why I found this so funny. You just reminded me of someone I know. The only thing you could have said to make that funnier (for me and possibly Dames) would be if you had said:

"This movie is only going to make *9* cents."

I love horror movies, but this is just pure disgusting that this flick has been greenlit. Embarrasing to me as a horror movie fan. Just go watch Dario Argento movies for now.

I could have handled another Halloween if they would at least tie in some of the other films to another (and final) film. There is a shitload of backstory (and characters who never got killed) never mentioned in the past two films from parts 4, 5, & especially 6. But this idea with "a movie within a movie"......fuck that. Resurrection was almost like that to a degree, in fact this greenlit idea seems to be in that same concept with folks being stupid and trying to capitalize on Myers fame, and then get chopped up for doing such. LAME. I will give them some credit for turning an idea with Resurrection that I thought was going to be pure shit into something at least somewhat creative with the webcam stuff integrated into the film (this was more of a plus for the DVD version other than the theatrical though) and also for at least putting some closure to Laurie and Michael. But as I said, this idea is uncreative and just not needed.

With Halloween, if they're bringing in Jamie Lee they only want you to remember the first two movies...and if they're not then they only want you to remember the first.

They're not going to play off 4-6 no matter what, and nor should they.

After the first 2 they just sucked anyway.

No, I'll see it nine times.

I say we bring back the suck thread, and kill every artist I said that sucked/pissed me off. I'm actually writing some things were Michael, Jason, and Freddy kills all of these people. First match:

Eminem vs. Those three guys who will kill everyone.
