Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 20, 2003 There is always one Mega team deal with 14 players announced 3 hours after the deadline....just wait...
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 20, 2003 The big ones are starting to trickle out now. Gary Payton and Desmond Mason to the Bucks for Ray Allen and Kevin Ollie. Kenny Anderson to the Hornets for Elden Campbell. The first one is a little weird for both teams. I understand trading Payton, but trading Mason? Don't get that. Don't see how Ray Allen helps that team either. The Bucks fragile chemistry just got worse. Unless Cassell gets traded too, there is going to be a lot of footage on Sportscenter of him sitting on the bench sulking with a towel on his head. The second trade, I hate Kenny Anderson and I think Campbell is a pretty good center in today's game. Sonics did good with that one. Don't understand why the Hornets would want Anderson besides the fact that his contract expires. But Campbell's expires this year too doesn't it? So it seems to be kind of a wash. Though, trading both their point guards...does this mean that Kevin Ollie will be the starter? ha Sonics also got Pryzbilla from the Bucks.
Guest GameCop Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell are reportedly involved in this unbelievable trade, as well.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 20, 2003 EDIT: That's it for the trades?!? You shoulda made that a separate thread: "Bryant traded"... LMAO. Methinks I should relay my posts to you for humorous insight before I post them. Don't know what to say about Allen for Mason/Payton. Seattle got an uber-talented player in Allen, but was it worth trading Mason for?
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell are reportedly involved in this unbelievable trade, as well. ESPNews just said that it's over. That's all the trades, nobody else is going anywhere.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Buck and Sonics have made a trade, Ray Allen, Joel Pryzbilla and Kevin Ollie for Desmond Mason and Gary Payton. http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0220/1511870.html
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Coincidentally, the Bucks and Sonics play Friday night in a nationally-televised game on ESPN. Talk about timing. C: Campbell PF: Radmanovic SF: Lewis SG: Allen/Barry PG: Ollie Don't understand why the Hornets would want Anderson besides the fact that his contract expires. He's on injured reserve? Guest Human Fly Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Milwaukee has been playing well lately. I'm surprised they are going to shatter their chemistry like this. Seattle just wanted to get something for Payton I guess. I don't understand trading Kenny Anderson though because now, as has been pointed out, you've got Kevin Ollie running the point. I don't think they really improved, but I don't think they got themselves into the LeBron sweepstakes either.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 20, 2003 A curse on Terrell Brandon. If that S.O.B. would just retire. The T'wolves could of gotten Eddie Jones.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 20, 2003 Now they say the Sonics got Ron Murray instead of Pryzbilla. Now I get the trade. They wanted superstar in the waiting Ronald Murray!
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted February 21, 2003 Why the hell would you trade 2 of your best (Payton and Mason) for Ray Allen (I can understand this) & Kevin Ollie ? Kevin Freakin Ollie? So basically Kevin Ollie is going to be running the Point(Seattle should have kept Kenny Anderson) I'm also sad to see that Spree is stuck with The Knicks & Osama Bin Layden. I feel that Spree is the best player on the Team(Houston, 100 Million Dollar Man, MY ASS) and that he would be much better off on his own.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 21, 2003 They're saying that Brent Barry is going to be the starting PG now, not Ollie. According to the update depth chart the starting 5 are... C - Campbell PF - Evans SF - Lewis SG - Allen PG - Barry The thinking is also that Payton might play the SG position to allow Cassell to stay in the lineup. It might work with them both in the lineup but Payton is one of the best PGs in the league. Cassell should be the one that moves to SG. He's always shot first and passed second anyway. Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted February 21, 2003 Why the hell would you trade 2 of your best (Payton and Mason) for Ray Allen (I can understand this) & Kevin Ollie ? Kevin Freakin Ollie? I know what you mean, Seattle's crazy for doing this. I can understand them wanting to get rid of Gary Payton, but shipping him out with Desmond Mason and trading away Kenny Anderson is suicide. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 21, 2003 Seattle will have cap space this coming off season. They can sign a PG like Andre Miller. Than they would Miller, Allen, and Lewis is too build around.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted February 21, 2003 Are you sure about that? The way they explained it on TNT tonight is that trading for Allen WAS their free agent signing. Because the reason they were gonna have money this summer was because Payton's contract was expiring. With trading Payton for Allen, Allen coming in is he's basically taking that spot, he's already taking the money that would've been freed up by simply letting Payton's contract expire next summer. I'm not completely sure but that's what it sounded like to me.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted February 21, 2003 Not really. I just figured not resigning Payton would free up some space for the Sonics to sign a PG, not I don't know for sure.
