Los Guerreros--the mini-sitcom

When the SD card was put up, I was disappointed to see Team Angle vs. Los Guerreros was relegated to Velocity. I guess the reason was so Team Angle wouldn't wrestle twice in the same show even if it was in the same night.

Still, I was confounded about THAT segment. As far as I know, they were getting over as faces recently, although still doing the "cheat to win" thing.

Then I saw that, and don't know what to think. They hit on some blond woman and compliment her on the baby. Then afterward note that it was the ugliest baby they'd ever seen, and Eddy stole a watch while Chavo stole the baby's bottle. HUH?!

I guess they are supposed to be wacky heel-ish faces, but--that was weird. Very weird.

Oh, and racist, but it's not like that's shocking. I take it Viva La Raza is not a copyrighted phrase, and just a generic Latino rallying cry.

I thought it was pretty funny, but more in the "this makes no sense" way...

And Chavo stealing the baby's bottle because "you already took everything else, man"... gold...

I won't say it's racist, because I'm not Latino at all (and if Chavo and Eddie don't have a problem with it, I don't see why others should), but it's a fucking stupid thing to do.

But hey, it was actually kinda funny in an unfunny way (like, so unfunny it was funny). Just get rid of some of the BLATANT racist ideas and continue with the "Eddie and Chavo cheat and still even outside the ring," and it's fun.

Oh, I thought it was funny too, since it was so over-the-top ridiculous. However, I feel if they try to follow it up it will start to suck. If they do basically the same thing in similar skits in following weeks, it will become predictable. The same joke isn't funny if you do it over and over again.

If it is a one time thing, bravo.

Hm, I don't know. Jad a "sequelisk" tone to it.

Yeah...I know. WWE doesn't get the concept of coming up with fresh new jokes, and just recycle the same old crap.

I'm shocked that they finally let "Ass Cream" die.

Just when I got "Ass Cream" out of mind. Dammit Andrew.

I didn't see this thing, read the spoilers and just basically tried to time it to watch only the Rock promos which were absolute gold...and I swear to god I don't remember it being listed in the spoiler,s so WWE literally probably put this thing together in one day. Not surprising, considering what I'm hearing from you guys.

I know this is dumb to bring up but, did anybody else notice that the music that played at the beginning of the Los Guerreros segment was the same bumper music that they use during Adult Swim? That was the first thing the stood out about it.

I think it'd be funny if they did these once every one or two months. Do one next week and then just cut it. And don't do another one until late March.

Then stick a generic personality-free character like Billy Kidman, Crash Holly, or Mark Henry and have them get ripped off. Or hell, have them snatch money from Vince McMahon (making a cheap cameo.) I can just picture Vince walking off saying "Wow, what nice guys those two are!" while Los Guererros are in the corner counting bills.

I think it's pretty funny. And while it's really unrealistic, wrestling has always had stupid skits that are amusing though incredibly unrealistic or unbelievable. But if they do it every week they'll kill it.

I LOVED it. They're being painted as the guys who will blatantly cheat in all aspects of life to be winners and gladly admit it. That's admirable to someone like me, who holds a similar stance on things, that the ends always justify the means.

Posted

I thought their little whatever it was was pretty funny in a "what the hell" sorta way. "They're Los Guerreros! They lie, cheat, and steal! Viva la Raza!" I just hope it doesn't herald the arrival of Konnan *shudder*. Any talking about "cheddar" or "salad tossing" and I change channels.

It kinda looked like they're being painted as way over the top heels. So over the top that everyone plays along with it, gets a good laugh at the antics, and they're pseudo-babyfaces. All about the shades of gray.

It was pretty stupid if they are doing this to get The Guerreros over as faces. Cheating to get the better of a mom and her baby is just not all that funny. They should have instead made The Guerreros cheat against some sort of antogonistic figure ... like some jerk at the DMV or something because bad things happening to bad people is always funny. And casting The Guerreros as the karmic force of cheating would just be stellar.

Usually when I watch SD, I use the motto 'watch and enjoy now, analyze later'. Just watching and enjoying, the segment was pretty damn funny in that stupid way (their sexy accents, false or not, sure helps too ^_^) But analyzing....it's too confusing.

EDIT: End-of-class free time *totally* reeks of awesomeness! [/E&C]

Racist? Yeah. Stereotypes aren't necessarily racist. They're insensitve sometimes, but usually only to sensitive people. I wasn't the least offended and I'm half-Hispanic. Maybe I should've been half-offended, but I wasn't. Not the least bit, not at all, not even a little.

I liked it.

Oh, Crash Holly has a personality. Just because he hasn't been pushed in forever doesn't mean he doesn't have a personality. That he has one despite the aforementioned is admirable.

If you've ever watched the lucha tv show, they do silly skits like this all the time. Its even more sillier because 99% of the guys are masked wrestlers, so to see them walking around town in masks is really funny. And no matter where they are, restaurant, park, walking down the street, they always encounter their rival and a beatdown ensues.

Well next week on RAW ,they are going to have "Uncle Booker's cabin".

"uncle Booker's Cabin"

That was one stupid segment. Eddie does not need stupid skits and vignettes to get him over.

If they want to get them over as faces who cheat, they don't need to have them stealing from babies.

Just have them playing cards with the boys in the back and have them cheat to win.

And JOTW, love the stealing from Vince idea.

I've heard it during commercials as well. It's just stock music.

So I guess next week we will start seeing fans with signs reading:

Eddie stole my keys

Chavo stole my cellphone

blah blah blah

I'm not offended by ANYTHING. However i simply found the skit to be extremely stupid, not very funny and utterly pointless.

However with some work they could be good skits. It was a good idea, but had terrible execution.

Guest papacita

I'm not a big fan of the skit, but they've GOTTA do one with Eddy and Chavo cheating on their taxes.

Edit: Shut up

I don't think the skit will hurt their face turn. It was done so tongue-in-cheek that you couldn't take them seriously as evil pickpockets. If they had roughed up the woman or pushed over the baby pram, then it would be a different story. It's kinda like Cheech and Chong, only without the wacky tobaccky.

BTW, Chavo's got Kevin Costner-itis when it comes to keeping the Mexican accent.

I would've liked it better if they pushed the stroller over and spit on the woman.
