Gotta love the quote in the first one though

-" As an intro, this is XPW (X-Treme Pro Wrestling), the promotion that defines the term "Two-Bit Mickey Mouse Operation". Based out of L.A. and financed by porn distributor Rob Black, it's goal in life is to basically be ECW, except without the boring wrestling stuff and with less intellectual edge to it"

Keith finally said something I can agree with. :)

I'm gonna assume that's Lizzy Borden in the pic, and she's plastered all over the website aswell. She looks like my ex, to be honest

To be fair, the shows he reviewed were from a year and a half ago, when losers like Damien Steele, Jake Lawless, John Kronus and Webb were major players. XPW has, from what I've read, managed to suck somewhat less since then.

You see, my problem is (DON'T LAUGH) I used to be a huge Shane Douglas mark, and it was his stuff that got me into ECW, and I stuck with him in his WCW run, now look at what he's become

I use to be a mark for Shane, even as late as 1999...but he's such the shits now. I hate to think someone I use to like that much just sucks now.

If you're talking about Youth N Asia's picture under his name, it's not Lizzy Borden, but Morgan from TechTV.

I actually have those tapes, and here is what I can say about them.

I have also read those reviews before too, and I actually posted them on wrestling message board back a few years ago when I was anti XPW after the ECW Heatwave thingy. (COULD IT BE TRUE?? EMAX HATED XPW???)

The first one is Hardore Conception, and I pretty much agree with Keith's review, the tape licks balls. But the matches were from 1999, and the tape came out in 2000, so its been a while.

The Revolution will be televised is a bit better, but not much.

The Messiah/Webb match is good because Messiah is awesome and Webb is awesome at his gimmick. But other than that the tape stinks.

Baptized in Blood II is a much better tape than his review desribes it as. I actually posted this review on CZWFans.com and XPWTV.com, and the fans basically laughed it off. Most hardcore wrestling fans like this tape, and of couse SK wouldn't give it a good review, because its full of violence. Scott Keith gave ECW the cold shoulder during his reviews usually, and doesn't seem to care about hardcore wrestling, he marks for 80's stuff and WWE, and some WCW. I do like his writing and read his ppv rants, as well as raw and sd every week, but I think he needs to open up to hardcore wrestling and give it a fair chance.

I've seen Keith give Cactus/Raven vs. Dreamer/Funk **** and TLC2 *****, so Keithy can appreciate hardcore wrestling, at least when his belly is full, I guess.

Look at the positive side of the reviews, only 2 DUDs and nothing went negative stars. That's good in my book. I don't like XPW much at all, but I at least didn't consider renting one of their tapes a big waste of money.

He also gave RVD/Sabu vs. Hayabusa/Shinzaki a whopping * when WWE came 2 years later, added 2 guys to the mix and ladders, and gave us practically the same match (TLC I), which Keith gave the full *****.

Keith was almost always anti-ECW, no matter how good some angles, promo's, or matches really were.

If that RVD/Sabu match is from around when I think it was Keith is probably right.

I think this match happened at the point before RVD became fun to watch and after the injuries got the best of Sabu.

Didnt you hear, Keit hates most indy stuff because of the lack of production vlues

I like reading SK's stuff on the WWE, but I dont value his opinion of the indys what so ever.

He's a complete WWE and Chris Benoit mark. And he refuses to admit that anything the indys produce is good.

I dont understand it at all. Hes a complete mark for the WWE, and yet he slags off everything they do apart from Benoit matches. If I ever get as cynical and bitter as him, then I hope someone bans me from wacthing wrestling, because he cant get that much fun out of doing so.

Heres what he said about BOTB1:

CZW is Combat Zone Wrestling, a small indy out of Jersey that likes to think it’s a player because it imports guys from Big Japan and rips off ECW’s “blood and guts” philosophy of garbage wrestling. Someone sent this to me (along with XPW Baptism in Blood II, review forthcoming) and this was a case where I didn’t exactly realize what I was getting into – I thought with a title like “Best of the Best” it would be an hour or so of CZW highlights to introduce people to the product. Instead…

- Okay, so first of all we’ve got this sub-RFVideo level production values RIGHT THERE on display with the cheesy opening graphics that look like they were produced in someone’s basement over a weekend. Bad sign right away, there.

- We start proper with a bunch of REALLY bad promos from the various CZW guys as they say “fuck” a lot and some Mexican guys try to steal a truck or something. In one case, the guy is obviously reading off cue-cards, which you can tell because his eyes move to the right every other word.

- So we FINALLY head to the ring, which basically looks like it’s a converted grocery store. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. All the participants for the junior heavyweight tournament are introduced, ala Japan. Except I have no idea of what’s being said because the sound system is roughly akin to listening to Tom Waite’s Greatest Hits through a McDonalds drive-in speaker while wearing ear muffs. I think Trent Acid may have started singing something from “Bone Machine” at one point, I’m not sure.

- Okay, so the ridiculous concept for the tournament here is that the first round is composed of three-way dances, and the guy who is pinned is knocked out and the other two guys then fight each other in the next round.

Full 'review' here

If anyone on this board put forth that completely biased review, they would be shot down in seconds and flamed until they didnt come back. Yet SK thinks he has the right to do so for some reason.

Yet you can bet your ass that if Chris Benoit was working the show, he would have a different out look on it.

I dont hate SK by any means, but when it comes to the Indy's the guy doesnt know shit, and only speaks shit.

ChUnK!

By the way, I dont think Lizzie looks too bad in that photo.

I don't see what's wrong with the CZW Best of the Best review, he's fair and doesn't give a dud or negative stars to any of the 13 odd matches. He also gives Briscoe Vs Briscoe ****1/4 stars and Winger Vs Minoru Fujita ***1/4.

He's also done a review of Ring of Honour 8 (which can be found Here) and gives 2 matches more than **** and three matches at ***+ so to say he hates indies and refuses to give them decent ratings is obviously false.

And if he likes Benoit, so what? You saying you don't mark for certain wrestlers?

I admit Scott Kieth can be cynical but I don't see anything wrong with the CZW review.

That was a gag, he once had a series of rants about an e-fed emanating from an old grocery store

Fair enough.

Its just his whole tone. When you read anything he has written about the Indy's, its like hes always negative. Sure he gives some good ratings, but its put accross as though he begrudgingly gives the ratings to the matches.

Take Briscoe Vs Briscoe for example, he gives it a good rating but criticises alot for the kick out of the J-Driller. He has a good point, im just trying to show how he seems to have a negative view towards the indipendents.

Perhaps its just me? But I always look for whats good in a match, instead of whats bad.

Re-read the first part of that review. Does that sound like a guy that is objectively looking at the promotion, and giving them every chance to impress him? Or does it sound like he has written the show off before he has even seen it. See what I mean?

Im a fan of Benoit as well (who isnt?), its just that SK is a massive mark for the guy. Theres nothing wrong with that at all, it just means that you have to take all of his ratings with a pinch of salt.

Hardcore stuff sucks for the most part.

SKieth is an idiot.

ECW was nothing more than an Indy.
