The Thing About the Rock

Unless I missed something, they never said that the Rock would never be on SmackDown anymore. All he said was that he told Vince he wanted to go to Toronto and that he would be in Long Island next week to talk to Austin.

I think that WWE needs Rock to be on both shows to maximize whatever they want to get out of him from this run, because if he can put over guys on both rosters, more people benefit.

I think Rock had his choice, and he chose RAW. They'll probably do something where Rock didn't want to face Hogan again, which fofficially bumps the title feuds down to number two on their respective shows. Way to value the titles.

I agree with Treble. It reinforces that The Rock and Vince are tight and that The Rock is Vince's golden boy who can do whatever he wants when he wants.

Plus, if you have Rock on Smackdown then the chances are increased for a Rock/Benoit feud after Mania, which (IMO) should end with Benoit retiring Rock at Backlash and sending him back to Hollywood.

Another thing Rock being on both shows does, is it places him at a higher level than other wrestlers who are bound by the brand extension. Another reason that he's better than they are.

I think that since Rock is likely to leave wrestling in a couple months anyway, it might not be a bad idea to pimp him out as much as they can.

I don't think the Rock is now Raw-exclusive. As a thank you from Vince, he can go anywhere. He'll probably end up staying on Raw only, tho. This is kind of what Austin suggested last year with the brand extension: don't have a set in stone hard and fast split of the roster, just have guys concentrate their feuds onto one show or the other, so that the brand extension happens naturally. Rock is basically concentrating this apparent showdown with Austin to Raw only.

Rock being able to appear on both shows at free will would be a great fit for his heel character. Even if he focuses on a feud on Raw he should randomly appear at Smackdown

To reinforce the idea that he is above everyone else have him and his long intro interupt the main face who's giving a promo in the ring in order to hype up "the real big money match starring The Rock".

And they could also have him interupt a backstage interview and make the interviewer interview him because he's more important.
