Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted February 27, 2003 Hulk Hogan, despite being heavily advertised to appear, was not at the Smackdown taping yesterday. The reason was that his daughter was having some type of singing tryout, and Hogan wanted to be there for her. Credit: 1wrestling.com Ok, I'm glad Hogan has Family Values, but why does he get away with this? When you're a Wrestler, you have to be away from your Family. That's a decision you make when you become a Wrestler. Or at least, sign a Contract to become a "Star." It just seems kind of funny he decided at the last minute he wanted to do this. Of Course, screwing over all the fans. But, I'm sure Vince would have let any other Wrestler do this as Well.
Guest Respect The 'Taker Report post Posted February 27, 2003 Work on that random capitalisation there, Havoc.. I agree with your points though. I'm unsure whether this was Jericho or Benoit who claimed this, but one of them stated that wrestling life completely ruined their relationship with their wives/children etc. to the point where they barely knew one another anymore. What gets me is why Hogan would miss the oppurtunity for a guarenteed pop that would be heard in Texas. Canada loves Hulk Hogan, and Hogan being the egomaniac he is, i thought, would have leapt at the chance to have his standing ovation. I mean, it's not like he gets them in the States or anything... Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted February 27, 2003 It was Benoit that said it. Jericho doesn't have any kids. I agree with Havoc. Hogan is a pest, brother.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted February 27, 2003 I think we should all applaud Hogan taking time off. I also think Albert, Bill Demott, Big Show and Chuck should spend more time with their families, and should be allowed to take off any time they like. niko

Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2003 As nice as it is that Hogan's a family man, this is a bit nuts. It's not a family emergency, nobody's died or in the hospital, so Hulk shouldn't be allowed to do this. What, is he going to miss Wrestlemania because Horace Hogan has an indy date and Hulk wants to be there for him?
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted February 27, 2003 I have to agree with all of you. Unless it is something serious like having surgery or a sick relative, then I don't think he should have gone to a recital instead of attending an advertised show. What happened to "I take pride in making to shows that I am advertised in?" Anyway, Vince needs him for that 850,000 X9 buyrate so I'm sure life will go on. Guest Lonewolf218 Report post Posted February 27, 2003 Yes, I agree with all of you. If Ric Flair can't get a day off to watch his son in a wrestling tournament, why should Hogan get a day off for his daughter's singing tryout? Of course that was WCW and things may be run differently in WWE.

I think Ric missed RAW once to watch his daughter play in a volleyball tournament, so I guess that type of thing is all right in the WWE.
Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted February 28, 2003 He's Hulk Hogan. He doesn't need to follow rules. Any wrestler who makes the company billions of dollars with little more than his charisma should be more than welcome to take a night off now and then. Besides, the folks who bought tickets expecting to see Hogan aren't going to demand a refund after attending the show. -Taft

Guest SupaTaft Report post Posted February 28, 2003 Yeah... math was never my strong point. I could have meant anywhere from five dollars to 7 trillion. But that's it. If I could remember replying I would fix the post. -Taft
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted February 28, 2003 I happened to wake up at 6 in the morning for no reason Tuesday, so I turned on Bubba The Love Sponge. They called Hogan who sounded sleepy as hell, and he was in Orlando or something. Appearantly, there's a singing tryout or something going on. He starts going on about how he thinks his daughter could be the next Britney Spears or something. He says something about "I can take 100 pictures of the rest of my family, and 50 will look good. With her, I can take 100 pictures, and 95 of them look good." Bubba: How do you feel about the match? Hogan: Wha? Bubba: The match. Hogan: What match? Bubba: You had a big match a few nights ago. Hogan: Oh... Well, I don't remember a thing... They talked about Rock a bit and how they want to talk to him. They ask Hogan if they ought to "cold-call" Rock (I guess call out of nowhere like they just did with Hogan) and he just kinda makes an "Uhhhn..." sound and says "You can call him whenever you feel like it for I care. Doesn't matter even if he's in Brazil." Bubba sits and chuckles about cold-calling Rock, says goodbye, and hangs up.
