Guest fairtoflair7 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Well, My Isles need to make a move. We need a foward to go along side Yashin who is struggling and we need a defensemen to help w/our injuries to Jonsson, Hamerlik and Cairns and also to lessen the minutes Aucoin is playing. We are likely to trade Isbister who is really struggling, 1 goal in his past 24 games. I preferably want Satan who would fit nicely alongside Yashin and Kvasha. Ray Whitney and Kristen Huliseis are also other names thrown in the mix. Ziggy Palffy is just oo much for us and he gets too much $ next year and that not good w/all his injuries. This is going to be a big week. Many trades are expected and expect the temas who are trading the stars not to get full market value back b/c its a buyers market right now. By the way, I can't wait till the Cryers play the Leafs so they can witness all their thuggery. If you think this past Sens game and last years series w/The Isles was bad, wait till you see the Leafs this year who will be even more dirty with Nolan's presence. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted March 6, 2003 It must suck being a Sharks fan. Well, at least you weren't a Vancouver fan from 82-88 or 90-93 or 95-01. So very bad. So what's the deal with Brad Boyes? Is he a super hot prospect then? It seems like the Sharks didn't ask for enough...I figured Antropov or someone might have been involved in any big deal. Go fig. Guest treble charged Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Boyes was the Leafs first round pick a few years back (24th overall). I think he was their leading scorer this year down in St. John's and played on a few of Canada's world junior teams.

Get this: I'm a Penguins fan too! Kovalev and Nolan? Sucks to be me. If Lemieux retires once again however I'll have no reason to even acknowledge the Pen's pressense in the leauge. Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Boyes was the Leafs first round pick a few years back (24th overall). I think he was their leading scorer this year down in St. John's and played on a few of Canada's world junior teams. I guess the Leafs are really high on Carlo Colovaccio(sp), since they were previously quite high on Boyes. Boyes will make a fine NHLer, and in time the Sharks will love having him around. (edit) For some reason I kept thinking that Boyes was a D-man, but he's a center. Which now makes me wonder who the hell the Leafs have as far as forward prospects go... In other ex-Leaf news, the Blackhawks apparently signed Todd Gill to a minor league contract. Mike Smith is really scraping the bottom of the barrel now for ex-Leafs... Heh, although judging by what's been going on lately, the last thing Toronto needs is MORE tough guys.

If you think this past Sens game and last years series w/The Isles was bad, wait till you see the Leafs this year who will be even more dirty with Nolan's presence. I love you. I think we are the only two Islander fans on this board. The Islanders need a blockbuster to last long in these playoffs. They have a good quality core of Peca, Bates, Blake, Scatchard, Aucoin, and Parrish. Johnnson is talented but not an offensive thread. Hamirlik has had a good season but he is always hot or cold. Isbister is supposedly on the block, and he wouldn't be a great loss. Both he and Osgood could be gone by this deadline. The Isles have Dipietro coming up next year with Snow carrying the load for the rest of this year. To make the team better in the long run they should get a young yet somewhat proven star for these two players. It would only add to a strong up and coming team. Alexei Yashin is the wildcard. This guy has turned into one of the biggest busts in memory. He has always been a good player, but not a leader type how the Isles want. He is practically on the 4th line now. They need to dump him for whatever they can. He is still a quality player who'd add a lot to some team down the stretch. If the Isles got rid of him, they'd have a great young team for the future. Plus, they have the best leader in the game. Mike Peca has done wonders for every team he's been on. One of the msot valuable people in the league, hence, they don't need Yashin. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 But who would take Yashin, and actually give the Isles something worthwhile in return? He's been playing like shit the last few games, and he's totally sucked this year. Oh, and let's not forget him disappearing when the Isles needed him in game 7 of the quarterfinals last year. Thats the problem, he is a cancer in the lockeroom. He is only out for #1 and thats it. The Isles should get whatever they can to dump his contract. Signing other character players with that 90 million would serve them MUCH better. Hopefully, someone is dumb enough to take him.

Guest starvenger Report post Posted March 10, 2003 OK, so comment on these trades: - Claude Lapointe to Philly / 2003-5th to Isles - Randy Robataille to Isles / 2003-5th to Mario's team (the Philly pick?) - Wade Flaherty to Nashville / Pascal Trepanier (who?) to Florida - Glen Wesley to Toronto / 2004-2nd to Carolina - Bryan "Dirtiest Player in the Game - unless he plays for you in which case it's either Kasparitis or Tucker" Marchment to Avs / 2003-3rd and 2003-5th to San Jose - Brad Ference to Phoenix / Darcy Hordichuk and 2003-2nd to Florida and the latest rumour is Rob Ray going to Ottawa. It seems like they WANT to face Toronto in the playoffs, don't they?
Guest gthureson Report post Posted March 10, 2003 OK, so comment on these trades: - Claude Lapointe to Philly / 2003-5th to Isles Depth trade. I've always kinda liked Claude Lapointe. Works hard, scores the occassional goal. Not somebody who'll put them over the top or anything though, but a useful guy to have around. - Wade Flaherty to Nashville / Pascal Trepanier (who?) to Florida Another depth trade. Nashville gets an experienced goalie who is nothing special, Florida gets a relatively young defenceman (26 or so I think) who can play in the NHL but is nothing special. I'd guess Trepanier makes less though, otherwise I can't really see much signifigance here. Randy Robataille to Isles / 2003-5th to Mario's team (the Philly pick?) Isles replaced Claude Lapointe on the depth chart for not much. Pens dump a bit more salary. Robataille's a bit younger but not as good as Lapointe IMO, dunno why the Isles did this shuffle. Lapointe for Robataille, essentially? I'd rather have Lapointe. Glen Wesley to Toronto / 2004-2nd to Carolina Toronto gets a steady defenceman who is better than Lumme, Berg and some of the other stiffs they've been trotting out. More reliable in his own end than Pilar. They do okay. 'Canes do alright getting a 2nd for a 34 year old UFA. Bryan "Dirtiest Player in the Game - unless he plays for you in which case it's either Kasparitis or Tucker" Marchment to Avs / 2003-3rd and 2003-5th to San Jose Mush isn't really much of a player anymore, in my opinion. He used to be dirty and effective. Now, it seems like he is just dirty. But the Avs need more warm bodies on the blueline, and I guess it didn't cost them too much. Brad Ference to Phoenix / Darcy Hordichuk and 2003-2nd to Florida Phoenix picking up a roster guy to move Numminen? I dunno. Ference is pretty decent though. Florida dumps some salary, likely, and gets another pick. Dunno much about Hordichuk. I think he is a tough guy. and the latest rumour is Rob Ray going to Ottawa. It seems like they WANT to face Toronto in the playoffs, don't they I think they would prefer Laraque, but I don't think they are willing to pay Edmonton's price. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Ottawa traded "future considerations" for Rob Ray from Buffalo. hmm...Varada and Ray the Senators have gotten from the Sabres...methinks they're trying to toughen up.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Why did Ottawa feel the need to get Ray? Isn't Bonvie a younger, cheaper enforcer, plus one that they already had in-house? It's not like future considerations are anything worthwhile, I just thought that Bonvie fill that need.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I'd imagine they got Ray so they could rest some people during the season. He won't appear on the playoff roster anyway. That's now what Ray does. I think you'll see him play the next few weeks to try and change Ottawa's image a little to a scrappier tougher team...and then he'll sit in the press box. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Sabres send Stu Barnes (Thus proving that being named captain of this team means you are on your way out) to Dallas for a 2nd round pick and someone that they drafted last year. The fire sale has officially begun.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I don't care who we get rid of as long as Satan remains. The odds aren't good for it...but he's too good to let go. Funny side note: When asked at the press conference who the new captain would be, coach Lindy Ruff's official position was something along the lines of "we'll have to wait and see who's left" My bet is that sometime next week they'll name Warrener the new captain. Guest Mikey2Dope Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Man with the way Dallas is stacking up and the rumors with Colorado look to be getting Damphousse and possibly Selanne, the Canucks are gonna have to pull some kind of deal here. I've been hearing rumors of maybe Gratton or Satan from Buffalo so let's hope that happens.

Warrener is the shit. He's from my hometown. w00t. Oh yea, plus he is a very solid defenseman. Dallas' deals have made them look very strong. If Colorado gets eithe Damphouse or Selanne - the championship is theres. The playoffs are going to be the most exciting in years with these fresh trades.
