Guest cartman Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 For some strange reason I cannot restart my computer normally. I can shut down, and power up again fine, but when i try to "restart", windows XP shuts down, then the HP blue screan comes up and freezes. Any suggestions?
Guest cartman Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 seriously? There's no other way? I dont wanna lose al my stuff on here...
Guest MrRant Posted March 3, 2003 Report Posted March 3, 2003 Try MSCONFIG the Run prompt and do a selective startup. But when I have issues like that I've had to reformate.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 5, 2003 Report Posted March 5, 2003 I would have suggested a system backtrack to a couple of days before the problem started.
Astro7x Posted March 16, 2003 Report Posted March 16, 2003 Yeah, I have a similar problem. I get this blue screen that freezes and tells me that some hardware is messing up my computer. I've been told to reformat, but I don't want to do that, and it's really not that big of a problem. Oh well...
Guest cartman Posted March 19, 2003 Report Posted March 19, 2003 Ahh now that this is back up I guess I can explain what happened. I have one of those nifty mice without the little ball. Well it came with an adapter so I could plug it into the regular mouse input on the comp, but for some stupid reason I took that adapter off and plugged the mouse into the USB port instead...which caused the problem. All I did was put the adapter back on and put it back into the normal mouse port and all was well again.
