Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Well, look at the bright side. Unless they give up booking an undercard, they can't screw the midcard any more. JHawk, look at the lineup for Wrestlemania. Just about the only people on it are considered main eventers or upper midcarders (Jericho, Booker, Benoit, Eddy, etc.). If I were them I'd be pissed at missing out on a Wrestlemania check after taking it up the ass from the WWE office all year. They've had their guarantees slashed through intimidation, there are less spots on house shows and the houses are down due to management stupidity, etc. etc. etc.
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Well, another WWE trademark bites the dust.........
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 3, 2003 It's not like WWe uses the format properly anymore so why keep it.. Besides it's not like they can't run a tourney on some other PPV. If Vince said "I'd like to have a tournament" they could still do it. Basically there was no point in keeping KOTR alive.

Guest Space_Cowboy Report post Posted March 3, 2003 I haven't reallyy cared much at all for the Tournament over the last few years, so the WWE dumping it doesn't overly bother me. Just one less thing for them to screw up with their idiotic booking i guess.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Wow, Vinnie Mac really has a hate-on for tradition these days, huh? First he folds (early) on the WWF name. Then he does away with the IC title. Now the KOTR. Next thing you know there will be no Royal Rumble in 2004. Wouldn't surprise me in the least, either.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 3, 2003 It really could have been so much more. What really killed it for me was all the times they only had the semi-finals and finals. What was the point if they only had to wrestle twice?

I am still bitter over 1999, but at least they had the match.

What was the point if they only had to wrestle twice? Actually, I did a Smackdown recap as a tryout for Wrestleline back in the day (right before KOR 2001), and I remember commenting how "Angle had to win three times last year, but this year he doesn't even need to win all three matches to repeat." Which defeats the purpose of pushing Angle's previous tournament win. Such a great idea, and yet so stupidly done.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 3, 2003 All this retro stuff reminded me of when WCW did the Lord of the Ring and DDP won and he got a ring. Honestly...this sucks, but its not like they scrapped the Royal Rumble..although at this rate they might as well change the name of Survivor Series to something else since they abandoned that format a long time ago. Anyone know what the June PPV is gonna be called? I vote for Great American Bash but that won't happen.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted March 3, 2003 I'd like to see them call the June PPV "$34.95 for THIS?"

Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted March 3, 2003 I wonder if it will still be worth going to. I plan on it as long as it doesn't suck too bad.

Guest AnnieEclectic Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Wow.... I dunno, this one at least had some tradition to it, even if the PPV itself lost luster. Seeing as I haven't watched a show in 4 months now, I'd probably be more ticked than if I was still viewing... -Annie
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Are they still using the King of the Ring title? Or switching to God knows what? I think they are scrapping the name completely.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Stick with the name AT LEAST.... Or just lift one of the UK PPV names (Insurrextion, Rebellion), like they did with No Mercy. EDIT: All this retro stuff reminded me of when WCW did the Lord of the Ring and DDP won and he got a ring. It was the Battlebowl Ring, which he then promptly sold (?) to get out of debt (in the storyline).
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 3, 2003 The IC title has lost its luster...King of the Ring has lost its luster... Soon Vince is just going to realize that this whole "wrestling" deal has lost its luster and he's going to swicth Raw to a cooking show or something of that nature. JR: "Season it, Stone Cold! Season that meatloaf bahgawd!"
Guest Showstoppa Icon Report post Posted March 3, 2003 its not on-topic, but why did they do away with Fully Loaded as a name for a PPV?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Expect them to rename it into some bland "Action" style word like Damage Turmoil... I doubt they will...but if they WANT they should bring back an Old WCW name either Great American Bash, Starrcade, Meyhem (Sue Me I liked it), Havoc (Drop the Halloween of course)...but expect them to use an old IYH or England name like Insurexxtion or whatever the fuck... Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 3, 2003 its not on-topic, but why did they do away with Fully Loaded as a name for a PPV? Cause Vengence was so darn good they had to use it TWICE in an 8 month span.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Fully Loaded...Once the July PPV for about 3 years (Also was loosely based as "HHH" PPV, ala Rock Bottom)...Was absolved for the InVasion name which was assumed to be an one shot deal...Well 9/11 happened and they decided to Absolve the name Armageddeon for the time being and placed Vengence for the December PPV. Then came July again and instead of returning to Fully Loaded...It was given the Vengence title and Armageddeon was back as the December ppv...

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 3, 2003 Maybe it's just the idea that when they were still using the Fully Loaded name...the WWF didn't suck. Maybe that's the jinx
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 3, 2003 I like No Mercy...Backlash is an good name since it's really just WM rematchese... No Way Out isn't very good... Vengence is no different then Rebellion so... I know we will NEVER see it again but OVER THE EDGE was a great name...
Guest creativename Report post Posted March 3, 2003 I know we will NEVER see it again but OVER THE EDGE was a great name...
