Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 well if we wanted to fantasy spiff ball on HHH's geopolitical personal views on the skin Pigmentations of other people, we could say the only black guy he was really comfy with on camera was Mike Tyson, and thats just because Tyson could legitly Bust him up....... well back then at any rate. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 4, 2003 A wee bit racist? He was basically saying "You are not as good as me because you are black and I am white" I won't go so far as to say it's as cut and dried as that, Triple R, but he didn't do himself any favours with it, that's for sure. And I'm sure it was all part of the script, but it still seemed a bit too natural coming from HHHeMan, who, like Brian said, isn't renowned for his acting skills. Consider a lot of his long, drawn-out promos, especially the Evilution one. They all seem very forced and unconvincing, even without the requisite smark cynicism. Last night seemed almost too fluid, like he really believed some of it. Maybe it was the whole "not in my league" bit, but… I know what I saw, and it made me a bit uncomfortable. And even the crowd seemed a bit taken a back. I'll rescind a lot of what I say if Booker is made to look even a bit credible in the next few weeks. I think he could've cut a much better 'I'm better then you' promo without the racist overtones. I didn't have a problem with it but I could see how someone would. I wouldn't go start pointing fingers calling him a racist though. It seems like they're doing a good job building Booker win. Ever since winning the tag titles (with the exception of the two losses to the Commonwealth Connection) he hasn't lost at all to my knowledge and they put him over Steiner last night. His match with Rock worries me though because neither guy can afford to job. I assume it'll be some gay finish (Booker hits finisher- HHH pulls him out- Austin saves) but I think, if Rock was gonna be around, they could've saved the match for Backlash
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I'm not calling him racist, I am calling him sleazy because he thinks he has to use race to get heat.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Didn't HHH win in the end and isn't Kane stuck in a midcard feud. Kane won in the end. He won the casket match which was the blowoff to the feud
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Oh, so Kane won the title? That wasn't the blow-off, it was merely a transition into the HBK/HHH feud.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 4, 2003 He didn't win the title but it was basically said 'This is the blowoff to the feud'.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 4, 2003 It was more like "This is the end, now lets never speak of it again". Kane didn't get any benefit from it -infact he got hurt more by the katie vick angle and the HHH feud. HHH retained the title and still mainevents to this day... "Not in my league" was exactly right. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 4, 2003 But Triple H never said that about Kane like he did with RVD (At least I don't think) He seemed to be scared shitless about him and that's why he decided to fuck with his head. I totally agree that Kane didn't benefit from it but I don't think he got it as bad as RVD. (Yes the angle was horrible but I mean HHH basically told RVD that he sucks while with Kane he was legit afraid of him and went to great lengths to fuck with him)
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 4, 2003 He called Kane a freak, someone who doesn't belong. Basically the same stuff he is doing with Booker without the racial overtones.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Rock and his segments backstage espically with Hurricane is gold... But COME on folks. Geez Months back when Rock was here you weren't Droooooling all over him as you are all now. Unless you are Liking his Screaming Sharpshooters and Armpit suplexes now? Because he wasn't doing this months ago. Hell, the man has barely even wrestled on Raw and yet he's made it a much more watchable show just by his promos alone. Guest notJames Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I'll take Rock doing promos nonstop over his "wrestling" any day of the week. In fact, I'd take Rock doing promos nonstop over half the RAW roster wrestling any day of the week and HHH twice on Sunday.
Guest Ram Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Seems more like they're going for a "working man" Foley kind of thing with Booker. It could work, but if they continually play the race card, you're going to have no heat and a lot of uncomfortable people.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 At least RVD wasn't called a Necrophiliac and a Murder.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted March 4, 2003 Booker will win at Wrestlemania, but he'll be made to look to pathetic with Trips' promos leading up to the event, and be a lame duck champion as a result. During his tenure, Trips will say he can't draw or something so he can have his title back. This will open up the possibilities for that MEGA-HOT Nash/Trips program that will "carry" Raw over the summer while Booker feuds with Bradshaw and never even gets to say "World Champion" again.
