Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted March 4, 2003 1. Before the cop approaches you: -Keep your hands on the wheel -Don't make a big scene, or do anythin they will remember you by* -Don't start reaching for things -Remain calm 2. During the stop: -Again don't make a big scene* -Try to humor him, don't embarass yourself* -Never threaten to sue, or fight -No insults -Give them an easy time -Ask only for a warning -Don't admit you did smoething wrong* 3. In Court: -Remember always fight the ticket -If cop dosent show up, ask for a dismissal -If cop shows up, you have a 40/60 chance of winning -Dress profesionally -Never admit wrong doings -Put together a presentation *They take notes, and will remember the incident with you. These cops stop alot of people, don't be a face that they will remember in a few months. My speech teacher is a former Highway Patrol Officer, and he gave us an example of a speech. His topic was obviously how to get out of a traffic ticket.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 4, 2003 So making pig "oinks" and nailing them with pepper spray before peeling off at 90 mph isn't the way to go, eh? Yuh huh, you stick to your way, buddy, and I'll stick to mine. Seriously...on the highway patrol shows and these world's funniest criminals deals I can't help but ask myself "what's this guy thinking?" when they go into screaming fits and stuff like that. Common sense should say that's the worst thing to do.
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Report post Posted March 4, 2003 And if you are a woman and it is a male police officer you can do one of two things: 1. Cry 2. Go into explicted detail about how you were speeding to get home/nearest bathroom because you just started and you don't have a pad/tampon. And remember be as gory as you possible can and their weak stomachs will do the rest.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted March 4, 2003 I've been to traffic school 4 times. What they don't tell you is that if you have a look about you, you will get the ticket 99.9% of the time. If you are young, male, any race other than what the cop is, you are getting a ticket. I got a ticket the other day for following a truck too close. I was getting on the damn freeway and I couldn't change lanes yet so my only other option was to drive 40 miles an hour to avoid following too close. When he pulled me over I gave him my license, registration and insurance. I answered his questions politely and informed him that I was waiting to get over and that I didn't know I was breaking the law. If I were a pretty female in the same situation or an old lady, I'm sure I would have gotten a warning. As a young hispanic male, I'm sure I had no chance of getting off. I speed all the time and always expect to get a ticket. I don't expect to get one just for getting on the freeway in traffic.

That's why you put together a presentation, and dress professionally. Also never say, "No, I was actually going [Lower speed that still violates the speed limit]." Again there is still the chance the cop might not remember you, they see alot of people on the road, and they write alot of tickets. Also, the same cops are on the same roads every night. Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Having a good driving record also helps, because they DO check on that when they go back to their cars. I have no points or incidents on my record in thirteen years of driving, and yes, I speed everyday. I got PBJ for a speeding ticket shortly after I'd turned 19, but since nothing else happened in the enxt year, that never even went on the books. The last time I got pulled over was about four years ago. As always, I was courteous and respectful, and combined with my pristine driving record, I got a warning. If you're respectful to the officer and you have a spotless driving record, you really have to drive like a certifiable lunatic to get a ticket. Many cops are happy to give warnings, since it's one fewer court appearance for them after working a long shift.

Well, I forgot to re-register my car which isn't as debatable as a speeding ticket or something. I'm just taking it to court because (a) it delays me having to pay the fine, (b) the cop might not show up, and © he's a small town cop that will have to drive out of his way to go to court so at least I'll get to inconvenience him.
