You know, the obvious thing is to have Angle come back in a couple weeks and say how he knew he was hurt before the match, but he didn't want to use the injury or anything as an excuse to not wrestle Lesnar in front of his home town fans, so he did it and even though it backfired and he lost, he still thinks it was as gutsy of a performance as when he won the Gold medal at the olympics with the messed up neck.

It will end up being sorta like when HHH finished out the match when he tore his quad, and it will probably garner him a big face push a la HHH if and when he comes back based on that if they follow up with clips of Angle rehabing and what not over the next year.

I think everyone is really really over-reacting. It is very very doubtful they'd make Kurt wrestle if he said he couldn't. Either he has their consent (Hell, he may have even come up with the idea himself) or the match won't happen.

Stop being all doom and gloom, seriously, you lot are such cynics sometimes.

Even if he came up with the idea himself (which is very possible) I think someone though should step in and stop this. Vince should, even if its from a business perspective, because its not smart to go ahead with Brock-Angle no matter the circumstances at this point.

ok ok ok, I have it all fantasy booked out for WM and next weeks smackdown.

Angle comes out to the ring determined to defend his title. Angle vs. Brock opens the show. Brock comes out and looks a little bit worried. They are about to lock up, but Brock stops and grabs a mic.

"Kurt, I can't do this. You can't do this. I mean, I appreciate your efforts and your heart, but dude, you're too hurt. You know it. You would die to keep that title, wouldn't you? I won't fight you. I can't fight you. You can come back next year to get it back, it's not worth risking your life for."

Kurt grabs the mic: "Brock, I worked too damn hard for this. I got dropped on my head more times than I can honestly remember fighting through guys like Chris Benoit, Edge, Eddie Guerrero to get this title. I have dedicated my life to this, I have dedicated my body for this. I am not just going to let it go like that - not me - not here - not now. So either you fight me or give up you sonnofabitch!"

Steph comes out and says that both men are emotional right now and that she will give Brock and Kurt until the end of the show whether or not they will fight.

Throughout the show we see Kurt reflecting, meeting up with other wrestlers - Benoit in particular.

At the end of the Show Kurt comes out alone and gives his big farewell-for-now speech. Then when he is about done have Benoit come out - have the announcers play it up like "these two men have had absolute mat wars, the respect they have for each other you can cut with a knife"...

But have Benoit laugh at him.

Have Benoit laugh because even though he lost the battle at the Royal Rumble, he can't help but feel he won the war... After all, it was all those German Suplexes which did it... All those times Benoit dropped Kurt on his head. Benoit survived the wars, Angle didn't. Benoits been there, he knows the hell that Angle will go through - meanwhile, Benoit will get more title shots - infact, his new agent just arranged one...

Then next week they can announce Kurt Angle as special guest ref for Brock vs. Lesnar at WM.

Wow, I still can't believe that we will have no Kurt Angle for a year. As a wrestling fan I have never been so depressed in my life.

From reading the spoilers it looks like Kurt will wrestle next week and give it his all. I also believe that he would have wrestled at Wrestlemania but that Kurt and the WWE decided best to get the surgery done as soon as possible so they moved up the match to next week.

Concerning the title match at Wrestlemania, even though I'm going to get massacred for saying this, Brock should face John Cena since they have already started a feud between the two.Sure its not a Wrestlemania quality match but Wrestlemania sells itself. Save Benoit for another PPV. Also they must find a way to get Jericho over to Smackdown to make up for Angle's loss.

I was just at 1wrestling.com and read the smackdown spoilers. The person reporting them noted that Angle took several bumps including one head first into the cage. I think I read somewhere else as well that he got a bloody ear in the Paul Heyman Brock Lesnar bout as well. So, unless there's a change in plans it really does look that there's going to be a Lesnar Angle match next week. I really don't think they're going to pull another false tease of this match again.

This is incredablly stupid on all acounts.

Benoit could beat Brock for the Title at WM and start up a whole new chase.

This is what I dont get AT ALL. Angle is bumping into cages and getting punishment enough to warrant a bloody ear yet they can't hold off the surgery til after the Mania match? I just dont understand the logic in this. If they want to rush a surgery it should be done NOW, not next week.

I don't know. Something is missing. I almost feel as if Angle will have a tiny bit of dignity left after jobbing next week...while severely injured...in his hometown...on free TV.

...

I KNOW!

They can start off by having Brock best Angle in some amateur wrestling and then Angle can grab a mic and give up saying Brock is superior in every possible way!

The wllingness of Angle to put over Lesnar is pure unselfhiness. Angle has to be careful here though as he's crossing the line between bravery and stupidity.Hopefully, with a little luck he'll be okay.

Remeber that Benoit went a month with out even being able to do a pushup and Angle's injury is similar so at least that's a good sign.

This doesn't make sense in some aspects...If Angle is willing to do ONE LAST MATCH why on a Smackdown? Not not go Bump free for a month? And do that Match on the BIGGEST STAGE of them all?

I understand that they want Angle to get the Surgery right away but What difference is a month REALLY going to make in terms of Rehab?

It seems smarter to just have Angle Forfiet the title and Benoit and Lesnar to be named the #1 contenders...

Cena? Maybe for Backlash or J.D but not Wrestle Freakin Mania...

Does anyone else feel that some people in the organization are desperately trying to find their way into that match instead of facing guys like Albert or Booker T?

Just wondering.

BROCK vs LESNAR?

That may be the greatest match ever. I want to see how he F5s himself.

Exactly what are you implying here?

Me? Imply? NEVER!

I'm just looking over some sites and I run accross lines like "HHH only accepted a match at Mania with Booker T because there were no big name wrestlers left"...and I wonder.

That was off the Torch site I beleive. Good luck winning that belt Booker. The burying shovel seems extra harsh this month.

You know what my favorite part is?

The WWE hasn't even mentioned the injury...so it is flat out going to appear like Angle couldn't even hold the belt until Mania.

And then probably that after embarrassing him for months and beating him on SD!...that Brock put him out for a year!

GENIUS!!!!!!!!

Eh.. I think Booker will win it just because they need to keep the crowd happy. If Goldberg is signed (which may happen with all this mess involving these injuries and Vince getting more desperate) then everything is in a tailspin though.

I've seen what's happened the past 3 months in this feud and refuse to allow you to say "Wait till next week" under these circumstances.

Except that everything is incredibly unpredictable right now.

Ten days ago we were happy because Rhyno had just come back from injury. A week after his return we have three more heavily injured people including the Champion. You can't just sit and play The Prediction Game because who knows what the fuck is going to happen next?

You're suggesting Taker will move in on Kurt's position, but even Vince would know that's bad for business because a Taker match at WM is pretty goddamn predictable. Not only is a title and a potential main event spot on the line, but Lesnar is the only one of Vince's Favorite Toys that has gotten over and there are people backstage who will go down fighting before letting Lesnar get jobbed out by The Usual Suspects.

I was just thinking about what this really means for the long-term, and you know what's really sad?

Once the initial Angle/Brock confrontation was finished, we were all set to have regular matches between Lesnar, Angle, and Benoit. Maybe Eddy Guererro would eventually find his way into that scene, too.

This could have been the start of a whole workrate-centered main event for SmackDown that would have made guys like Austin and the Undertaker and their brawling to look antiquated by comparison. Hell, it could have started a whole new theme for the company to sign and push guys with amateur backgrounds.

So much for that... It looks like the Lesnars and Angles will continue to be rare birds. -_-

The thread's so long I can't remember who had the sweet "French Military Victories" sig, or who had the Donkey Kong comment....

I also agree Kurt shouldn't wrestle, and if he does why not Wrestlemania, but perhaps it is going to be done on Smackdown because it will be taped and if anything goes wrong they can edit, or just drop the segment all together and hatch something else up on the fly.

I don't think it's a matter of doing the surgery as soon as possible. I dunno. Maybe they feel that in his condition he's just not capable of a PPV-caliber, especially Wrestlemania-caliber, match.

True...Maybe they are, Understandably concerned about having a Wrestler suffer an crippling injury on the biggest stage...It wouldn't look good if the most "Real" wrestler WWE employs was seriously injured at Mania...

So I guess if he gets in bad enough shape next week, they can just edit that out and do an Edge like send off.

That pre-edit version of Smackdown that airs via satelite on Wednesday will be very interesting to watch next week, to say the least.

This is Crap! No way should Angle be wrestling and taking bumps and head shots with an injured neck. I don't care of Austin and Benoit did it. Angle's not them! Different injuries happen to different people. Everyone is different.

Hell, some people get hernias from picking up a little newspaper and some of these wrestlers tear their ACL's from the most simple of spots. It's the simple, freaky injuries that are scary. (Look at Sid)

Wasn't it reported somewhere that Angle re-injured his neck in a headlock spot? A Worked Headlock! Sure, Angle could tough it out and go take a few bumps and work with Lesnar, but it could be a little spot like a damn bearhug when Lesnar is jerking Angle side to side that blows out his neck.

No way should Angle be allowed to work like this and WWE are Fuckin' stupid to allow this! If Kurt Angle gets hurt worst then he already is next week, then I hope somebody "Bruiser Brody's" Vincent K. McMahon, Jr.

Stupid Fucks!

Angle needs to get his neck repaired ASAP. I can understand scheduling an operation in a week or 2 weeks. Thats kind of normal...any of you got injured? They don't take you the next morning unless its something that must be repaired ASAP. But waiting until after Mania is a long time.

I think the reason not much of the issue was addressed this week on SD is they are not sure exactly what they are going to do.

Yeah, this is pretty much the worst part. Angle's consistency in putting out entertaining matches and promos has been phenomenal. This puts enormous pressure on Benoit and Lesnar now, as they have to do their thing without being depushed in favour of Undertaker or some other shite wrestler. Workrate wise, they have to stick Brock in long feuds with both Benoit and Eddie immediately after Wrestlemania. With Angle out, Brock is going to have to evolve into a more complete wrestler much more quickly, and to do that he has to be in the ring with the best. No more Big Show/Taker/Anyone else big and rubbish crap. An Austin feud wouldn't hurt either. Angle developed through wrestling Benoit, Brock will do the same.

The problem is, unlike Angle, they weren't prepping Brock to be a more complete wrestler by setting him up in the right kinds of feuds and just bringing him up differently.
