Guest Lightning Flik Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Mine Contain Spoilers To Two Games, Many Have Probably Not Played A lot of the mark out moments have come to pass by other people that I would've stated, so I'm just adding three. Seiken Densetsu 3 (Sword of Mana [more commonly known as Secret of Mana 2, that was never released in North American], ROM) - when you have to fight one of the elemental beasts on your dragon. I was amazed at how it for a 2D game, way back when, to actually emulate the fighting a boss while you are flying very well. Plus it just looked so damned cool. Xenosaga - when KOS-MOS wakes up and just uses her MAD SKILLZ (sorry, I just had to say it) to whip the floor with every single Gnosis she fought. Best part of the whole sequence was when there were a lot of Gnosis and then she blows the window to bits and all the Gnosis get sucked out into space. I was just like "damn! Thank God she's on my team," before remembering that I'm playing an RPG. Final Fantasy 7 - Aerith's death. I cried worse than a little baby... I really did. Stopped playing for a long time (one day) to mourn her death... Yes, people. I sometimes get a little too emotional over a game.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 A mark out moment for me was actually when I was just watching a game. A friend was playing X-Men for Genesis I believe and he came to a point where you had to shutdown a timer and the only clue was that "you had to reset the computer system". So, I'm sitting there trying to figure it out with the clock ticking away and my friend actually turns off his friggin system! Being rather late into the game I freak out but he just turns the system back on and the game picks up right where it left off. Up until that point I didn't even know games could interact with your system like that. There was also...hmm..let's see: Psycho Mantis fight in MGS Snake jumping in after Ray in MGS2 KOS-MOS reveals her inner ass kicker in Xenosaga Ridley fight in Metroid Prime FINALLY beating Halo Blowing away Maria in GTA (I laughed my ass off at that one) Auron's arrival at Zanarkand (opening FMV), Final Fantasy X Yeah some of these have been mentioned, but I still love 'em. The Squall/Rinoa scene with Eyes on me playing in the ragnarok in FFVIII Hearing the rad chocobo music in FFX Beating DBZ: Budokai and hearing an instrumental version of Head Cha-la ( That caught me so off guard I about shit myself)
Guest Samurai_Goat Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Ok, when I first played Street Fighter 2: Turbo, I could never get Ryu's Dragon punch to work. I couldn't for a long, long time. One day, I just picked up the game, and decided to try and beat the game on the hardest difficulty with Ryu. Once I got to Bison, he was beating the steaming poo out of me. We both had a sliver of life left......and I pulled it off for the first time, right into Bison's dive. I mean, it looked perfect. I still smile over it. Crono Cross, when Serge stabbed Kid. Heh heh. I hated her. FINALLY finding the Atma Weapon on FFVI. Kefka's final boss music. In Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the first time you chunk one of those huge rock towers with the upgraded gauntlets. Omnislash. My first time I played GTA: VC, I really didn't know anything about the controls or mechanics of the game. I stole a car, ended up driving right into a wall half a second later, and got killed by the cops. It was hilarious. Those, and when I loaded FFVII on the computer. I had loved FFVI so much, when I heard the fanfare, I was about to just up and backflip. Eh, that's enough for now.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted March 7, 2003 After years of wanting a Robotech (Damn you Gametek for going under) game, I marked out HARDCORE~! when I booted up Robotech:Battlecry for the first time. I still get goosebumps when I see/hear the intro.
Guest EricMM Report post Posted March 7, 2003 Oh actually, I'd like to add another FFVII moment, IE the first time I saw the demo disc actually, and saw that entrance for the first time, it was probably my first real epic FMV. Most PSX games had had FMV on them, it was the big thing, but games like Warhawk hadn't really used them to do anything more than show short movies. But FFVII's intro was something more, it was epic, it had great music, and it showed what the next generation was going to look like compared to the SNES generation. Recall if you can, the first time you saw the camera pull back from Aeris' face, across the plaza with all the bustling people and cars, to zoom back and show Midgard. It was awsome, and again, I must say that FFVII was probably the biggest benchmark game I've ever played. The difference from FFVI to FFVII is staggering. FFVII showed that, and when I was in 9th grade, it made me mark out
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted March 7, 2003 The difference from FF6 to FF7 is staggering, and yet FF6 is still the much better game, hehe. My big FMV markout moment was the first time I saw the FMV intro for Tekken 2. The only FMV I had seen up to that point was the horrible Toshinden 2 intro, and so the Tekken 2 intro just blew me away. Unbelievable graphics, unbelievable music. I was just in shock that a game system could produce such amazingly beautiful images.
Guest Special K Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Luca Blight facing the camera at the opening in Suikoden II, the happy ending as well, after having seen everyone die previously. Xenosaga: Albedo and the wonders of self-mutilation. First Cyber kick. KOS-MOS shredding the invincible Gnosis. Chrono Trigger. Getting MAGUS Xenogears, realizing that Fei IS Id, He DID kill his villagethe and buy, he's really messed up. Finding out othe badass is a previous incarnation of yourself. First fight with Citan with a sword. FFX- The opening, it's really badass. Silent Hill: You walk into a bathroom, look around for items, suddenly you hear piteous childrens' sobs. There is never any explanation given for this. The intro in which midget hack your kneecaps till you die. WHen you realize someone's been playing basketball with a dog's head. Silent Hill 2: Pyramid head. What a scary fuck. Especially the first timee you see him. Simply standing in a corridor, silently breathing, with only a flimsy gate between you and him. Fuck Nemesis, he was a badass, but while pyramid was really a pussy, he scared the shit outta me. Valkyrie profile happy endng. Awww Anytime Kefka or Sephiroth or Albedo are on my TV screen. EDIT: And hell yeah, FFVII's intro STILL makes me mark. What a great game....

Guest Drury37 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 My favorite mark out moments are when I beat Penn State with Notre Dame by 1 on the final play of the game in Bill Walsh's College Football 1995.I was down 7 i scored a touchdown and in that game if regulation ends in a tie the game ends so I went for two and the win,I was stopped up the middle but I turned to the outside and got in,it was awesome!!! Also beating Georgia Tech in the Sugar Bowl in NCAA Football 2003,I was down by 24 in the 3rd quarter and I came back and won it on the 2nd to last play of the game,I was Notre Dame again and I was wearing the green jerseys and it awesome!!! Also in the Insight.com Bowl in NCAA Football 2003 throwing a 80 yard pass on the final play of regulation against USC to tie the game at 14 and then I won the game in overtime!!!In NHL '93 I won a playoff game(not sure against who)and I was down by 2 goals with like a minute to go in regulation and I scored a goal with 50 seconds remaining and then a goal with 1 second remaining and then I won in overtime,I also went crazy when I beat Sonic 1!!! Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted March 18, 2003 My Mammoth Tank rush on the damned Allies in C&C Red Alert on the last level. It took me FOREVER to just establish a functional base that wasn't getting assaulted by tank rushes every 30 seconds or so. Then, once I had my defenses up, it was air strike city until I had enough key defensive structures down, and then I LITERALLY took about 40 Mammoth Tanks or so, and just marched them from one end of the base to the other, destroying EVERYTHING in the way. Good fucking times. Finally beating The Peacekeepers for the SNES. Fuck, Tibalt was a tough motherfucker. Me and my buddy played this like, every day after school for a few months while listening to the Offspring. Anyway, I have like, the tinest health left, no more lives, and my buddy's already dead. Just when things look their bleakest, I get into Angry mode, and literally toss Tibalt from one end of the screen to the other with the greatest German Suplex (Yes, you could do a German Suplex; Rolling, even) in recorded history, for the game. I nearly shat my pants. I don't think I was ever that happy again until I touched my first b00bie. This one is more recent. Playing random 5-on-5 matches in Fire Pro D, I have a shooter in my first slot. The match goes back and forth for about 8 minutes, then I get the tap out. "You're screwed now," he says. "Shootfighters blow up like crazy. You're dead." "Nah," I says. "I'm just going to break your leg in 30 seconds with the legbar..." The match starts. We move in, grapple, and I hit a quick takedown. I get into the guard, go for the legbar and....BAM. CRITICAL. In under 30 seconds. I roared. He was pissed. So we go to the next round. We walk in, lock up, I hit the takedown, go for the guard, and... "Here it comes again!" Legbar... CRITICAL. In under 30 seconds. And that's in game time, which is quicker then normal time, for the record. I think his controller ended up halfway across the room; I was too busy LAUGHING MY FUCKING ASS OFF to be sure, really. Anyway, then I beat his next guy with the legbar tapout in about 10 minutes. Then he FINALLY beat the shooter with his 5th guy. Sad, really. Good times. Oh, and before I forget...Another buddy, as Hogan, critical-ed Kobashi with the legdrop, but since he's a dick, he pulled me back up for more fun. We're fucking around for a bit, then I get an irish whip into the post. I head over, grab him, put him up top, and... BURNING MOTHERFUCKING HAMMER~!!!!!! Sure, I lost the match (No one to pull me up, because he was DEAD) but I was gonna lose anyways. It just seemed like such a Japanese thing to do...My guy was already beaten, and then he pulled out the deadliest move in history. Good times.

NBA Jam (Genesis) - David Robinson hitting like 8 3-pointers in a row. And not all of them were when he was "on fire" NBA Jam (In the arcade) - Shaq hitting a 15-footer at the buzzer for the win. This was like the first time I ever played NBA Jam. Wrestlemania 2000 - Spearing the crap out of everyone with a CAW Goldberg.
