Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I thought Boston was gonna sign with Atlanta. It's a nice signing for San Diego. Assuming Boston can stay healthy. I'm still not sold on Drew Brees. Having one of the best receivers will certainly help him.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2003 If this happens, then for the Chargers sake, it's good, it gives their young QB Drew Brees someone good to throw the ball to which is helpful for the passing game.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Bah. He should have come to Baltimore. I think it's comical when guys sign seven-year contracts. No one EVER plays those to term in the modern NFL. Basically, it's an excuse to give the guy a bunch of money up front in the form of a signing bonus, while deferring it for cap purposes over the length of the deal. After two year, the deal will be renegotiated, and he'll be released after four, max.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted March 6, 2003 The funniest ones of those six year contracts were the pair the Raiders gave to Jerry Rice and Tim Brown. All together now... Can we say..."Salary cap move?" Because I think it's pretty obvious both will retire maybe halfway through the contracts.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Well everyone is fully aware that all long contracts are salary cap moves and that no one will get the entire contract. That's why you have the signing bonus. If you're getting 12 mill just to sign then you're not going to care what happens contract wise.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Jake Plumber signed a 7 year 40 millon dollar deal with Denver. Why are people so insistent that Jake Plumber wasn't the problem in Arizona, and all he needed was a new team. The Cardnials are terrible franchise, but Plumber does have more career Int's than TD's. He doesn't seem like a smart QB.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted March 6, 2003 "I thought Boston was gonna sign with Atlanta." I heard on some talk-radio show last weekend that Atlanta was deciding between Peerless Price and Boston, so perhaps the Falcons are going with Price... Guest imajackoff? Report post Posted March 6, 2003 This snowblower is the biggest FA in many years and he signs with the first team he visits. Im sure the NFLPA is really happy with that. Yes, Im bitter he cancelled his flight to Bmore yesterday to sign with the Bolts.

BTW - If Jake Plummer signed a 7 year 40 million dollar deal in Denver, what about Brian Griese?
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted March 6, 2003 On Sportscenter they said they are going to try to trade Griese, but only if they get a good deal. They said the best deal you'll get for Griese is a late draft pick, so he'll probably just be cut in June.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted March 6, 2003 The Ravens need to look into the possibility of getting Griese. Blake is gone and while everything I've heard about Redman's offseason has been positive, Griese > Redman hands down. Im still kinda bummed out about Boston going to SD, but whatever. Arizona is gonna flat out suck this year, no Boston or Plummer..
