Guest Matt Young Report post Posted March 5, 2003 Yeah, I know this topic has likely been posted countless times in the past, but there's no such thread around here now. What I'm looking for is one of those sites where I can fill up a 6 or 8 hour tape for a reasonable price ($10-12). I'm looking for a combination of mostly puro, Ring of Honor, ECW, and maybe some CZW, but I'd also like to know of the best sites overall, just for future reference. Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 A good tape site is Corey's. [Heh...I'll take every opportunity to plug his site. Gotta give him feedback somehow!] http://quiettstormm.com/thetapeman/title.html
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 6, 2003 for Indy tapes, go talk to YNA (Youth N Asia). He is my one stop shop for indy material. For puro, I still say Jeff Lynch is the best possible alternative since you can fill up a 6 hour tape for $15 and he has the best quality i have ever encountered. rf? nope goldenboy? thumbs down prowrestlingtapes? no luck jeff lynch? (i admit i haven't tried highspots so i can't confirm the quality of their tapes)
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Just curious...what's wrong with RF? They have a tape [best of Raven and Stevie Richards in ECW] that I was thinking of buying.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 6, 2003 (i admit i haven't tried highspots so i can't confirm the quality of their tapes) I've gotten a decent amount from Highspots, I'd recommend them anyday. They're fast and cheaper than RF.
Guest ConspiracyVictim Report post Posted March 6, 2003 I will recommend Highspots but they dont have any combo tape deals so dont go there looking for that. Lynch is great but for what I really want I have found a new personal fave. Go and buy stuff from Alfredo at www.wrestleholicsvideos.com. He has tons of Lucha TV that few others have, handhelds, and plus he gets in just about all NJPW, AJPW, GAEA, AJW, Arison, and Zero One TV and events in. He also has some good old stuff. Also I would recommend Tabe at www.tabe.nu for any UWFi, UWF, or RINGS stuff you need. He also has alot of PRIDE and some good old NJPW and NWA, WWF, and Mid South footage. Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Just curious...what's wrong with RF? They have a tape [best of Raven and Stevie Richards in ECW] that I was thinking of buying. Quality, and most of their stuff is overpriced.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Just curious...what's wrong with RF? They have a tape [best of Raven and Stevie Richards in ECW] that I was thinking of buying. Quality, and most of their stuff is overpriced. Plus they usually aren't fast with deliveries. I've even had them lose a few orders of mine before.

Guest Matt Young Report post Posted March 6, 2003 A good tape site is Corey's. [Heh...I'll take every opportunity to plug his site. Gotta give him feedback somehow!] http://quiettstormm.com/thetapeman/title.html I don't know. I checked out that site a long time ago and was impressed by the selection, but after I showed it to my cousin and he ordered from there, the tape he ended up with had HORRIBLE quality, so I have been wary of ordering from there. Oh well... it might be worth a try. Wrestleholics looks good as well. Thanks for all the replies.
Guest wolverine Report post Posted March 6, 2003 Tabe at http://www.tabe.nu is probably the best bang for your buck. He'll fill up a 6 hr tape for $12.50, and he's got tons of great stuff and VQ. Highly recommended.
Guest ChaosTheory Report post Posted March 7, 2003 (i admit i haven't tried highspots so i can't confirm the quality of their tapes) Highspots customer service SUCKS ASS I had an issue with a tape and they were very rude & disrespectful about the situation. They need to take some basic customer service classes. I did alot of business with them in the past and their products are ok for the most part but they did not take care of my problem when it mattered and they still owe me money! The biggest problem with RF is that it takes a while for them to send out their tapes. However, I did also have an issue with RF and I called them and they took care of the problem within 3 days without any issue or attitude.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted March 8, 2003 For ROH, I am hearing Markoutvideo to be the place. He's got an insane deal of 5 shows for $33.00. He's available via e-mail at [email protected]. I don't know about the video quality personally, but Justin Baisden has given him an endorsement.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2003 I don't know. I checked out that site a long time ago and was impressed by the selection, but after I showed it to my cousin and he ordered from there, the tape he ended up with had HORRIBLE quality, so I have been wary of ordering from there. To be fair, some of the quality on some things isn't that great. But, it's a copy from a copy [from a copy, if that line continues], so I don't expect perfect picture. From what I ordered: Best of bWo/History of bWo - I haven't watched it all, but from I've seen, MOST of it just looks like EP mode copied. The first match was HORRIBLE QUALITY, but after that, it was okay. Some stuff is recorded twice [with worse quality] on the same tape, which is confusing, but to see their funny promos, some Stevie/Ravne serious promos...dayum, it's all worth it. Best of E&C/Hardyz - Thus far, it's been okay. But heck, maybe I'm just lenient when it comes to quality. Owen Hart Show/Best of Raven - Damn...that show nearly put me to tears at times. EXCELLENT quality here, although the audio went down JUST A BIT towards the end. The Best of Raven.......HORRIBLE quality of picture and muffled audio. I haven't watched it all, so I'm not sure how the whole tape is. For all that, it was $39.00. Thus far, the tapes have been worth it.

Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 11, 2003 ok, shit.... i forgot about tabe. his stuff does indeed rule. i'm $75 in the hole because of him and every cent was worth it. his quality is exactly as it is listed. also, to give bob barnett his props, he has the best lucha footage i have ever encountered. his prices may be steep but i can't think of anyone who has that high quality lucha footage. i have 4 copies of aaa when worlds collide and barnett's is the best version by far. he is also able to tape 'hard to get' shows for discount prices!!!! Barnett is great, but for those not serious about Lucha I would go to Alfredo at wrestleholics. He has some great Monterrey and IWRG stuff that has to be seen by real fans and some great old UWA and AAA footage. Ive gotten alot of Lucha from there and its great quality also... Gotta give him feedback somehow!] http://quiettstormm.com/thetapeman/title.html I have to wonder how does this guy not get sued by Vince & Co. I mean, do they really believe him when he says he isn't making a profit (which I believe)? Because, given my current tape collection, I could probably start my own Tape trading page (not for profit of course, just to share the wealth of wrestling and maybe get some stuff I don't have)

Guest John Dub Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Hey Matt, it's been a while. Good to still see you posting. Highspots has excellent quality tapes that arrive very quickly, I give them a very high reccomendation, although their selection leaves a bit to be desired. If they have something you want, go for it. Corey's has an amazing selection. I did business with him about 2 years ago in 2 seperate deals, and some of the old ECW stuff is crappy footage, but the majority of it was great, and he's a really nice guy. Good prices, I reccomend it highly.
