The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2003 Being the first year of the split and Wrestlemania being the biggest show of the year, you figure that Raw and SD would be battling over who gets the main event slot in terms of the World Title Match. Everyone assumes that it's SD, but it's never been said. Now, IF Kurt Angle wasn't hurt and it was still Angle/Brock and Booker/HHH, I've got a CRAZY idea that might be crazy enough to work. This could be implemented towards next year's Mania though. Vince comes out one day and says that the GM's can't agree on the main event slot. The week before Mania, or hell, at No Way Out if they've got the title matches figured out, he makes a match. The challenger of the Raw Title vs. the challenger of the SD Title. The winner of the match gets the main event slot. Imagine seeing Angle trying to help Brock win a match, or HHH trying his best to make sure that Booker goes over. It would just be a unique dynamic with good crowd heat. That is all. Hey, you could even do a Raw vs. SD tag match and see the partners deteriorate, but hey, I'm overthinking things. Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted March 7, 2003 I like it. Reminds me of that Sid/Bret cage match where Austin was helping Bret and Taker was helping Sid.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 7, 2003 Why don't they just make it a best 7 of series! Mix up the match ups with tag matches and singles. Book T vs Brock Book T vs Angle HHH vs Brock HHH vs Angle Raw vs Smackdown tag matches GM vs GM 6 man tag match
The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2003 Well, I'm sure that Vince wouldn't want their champions to battle each other. That's why I didn't add that option. Dames
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2003 I like it. Reminds me of that Sid/Bret cage match where Austin was helping Bret and Taker was helping Sid. Or even more of the match where it was Rikishi (with Austin) Vs The Rock (With Triple H) THAT was weird!
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 7, 2003 It's cool for a PPV match, but I still would have like to have seen them put the main event up in the Rumble slot.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I like it. Reminds me of that Sid/Bret cage match where Austin was helping Bret and Taker was helping Sid. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Wouldn't the Winner of the Royal Rumble go on to Main Event WM?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 8, 2003 The problem with the two challengers going against each other is that it makes one brand look like the 'lesser' brand. They shouldn't do that.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I thought the winner was only guaranteed a title shot at their brands respective title, not the main event. One brand won't look bad if the finish is muddled with interference, which is what would most likely happen. Besides, in the case of Brock/Angle, if it was still on and still in the same way...Brock could afford not to look too strong going into Mania at the expense of Booker T. Guest treble charged Report post Posted March 8, 2003 I thought the winner was only guaranteed a title shot at their brands respective title, not the main event. They're always kind of wishy-washy on that. On one hand, the announcers don't say that for sure it's the main event, but if you watch the video package before this year's Royal Rumble, all the wrestlers talk about winning the Rumble and then going to the main event at WrestleMania. I guess it just depends on who you want to listen to.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 8, 2003 But that would mean HHH in the main event and who wants that What's the % rate of people who have won the rumble being in the main event... 80%?

Guest kane3212321 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 The Rock (/w HHH) vs. Rikishi (/w Austin) happened before No Way Out 2001 on 02/12/01 and was to choose the stips for the No Way Out HHH vs. Austin match.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2003 So we had Austin in the corner of the man who ran him over, facing the person who was accused of running him over, and in his corner was the man who put the plot together. good how the wwe tries not to confuse us
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Dames, I'm saying if the WrestleMania main event slot would have been part of the rumble stip. It would have added more brand rivalry to the match.
Guest Mole Report post Posted March 8, 2003 Yes, add it too the Rumble stip. But Dames' idea is good too.
