Guest GameCop Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Madonna is still around because of her mystique. She is an enigmatic, inscrutable, elusive entity that can't be "pinned" down or figured out. She has incessantly changed her image (gimmick); her image -- or the concoction of a new image -- has always revitalized her career and often shrouded her lack of talent. Just to give you an example -- Madonna is slated to write five children's books. This is surely a far cry from the "justify my love" video and the subsequent "lustful" book. You won't believe the amount of hypocrisy that she exudes -- on Larry King Live she professed that she prohibits her children from watching ANY T.V. because she doesn't want them to encounter raunchy or racy programming. I could probably write an essay on how Madonna pioneered the lascivious videos and overall, sexually-driven television.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Chris Martin's the lead singer of Coldplay. Oh, and as for the Morrissey putting together a better song than "Crazy For You"? Copy and paste the tracklist of The Queen Is Dead. That should do ya.
Guest spiny norman Report post Posted March 11, 2003 Or maybe she's just moved on? As you said, Madonna is constantly changing her image or gimmick. She once said that if she could have taken one song she's performed and never do it, it would've been Material Girl. This was the one song where she really had to start about how to constantly market herself differently and constantly change her image. And I think she has regretted some of the images she had. Like the erotic "Justify My Love" thing. She has had children now and feels over what she has done. I personally like Madonna because I like her music. Sure, I don't think American Pie or Ray Of Light are great songs, but she certainly has a greater share of excellent songs then horrible ones in my opinion. "People need stupid music once in a while" And by the way you speak about her, Madonna's music is stupid. So therefore I am entitled to like it.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 11, 2003 Of course you're entitled to like it, you're just wrong is all. Stupid music that knows it is stupid is what I mean, whereas assholes like Coldplay or just about any emo band you could name look so ridiculous trying to be something they're not, something intelligent.
