Guest Downhome Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I was trying to check out a few songs just now, and I ran into a small problem I guess you could say. I downloaded the song once, sounded fine, then out of nowhere in the middle it made a beeping "swoosh" type noise. I it again from someone else, and it had the same thing. I tried to download a few more different songs, and MANY of them had this. Now, after talking to a few people about it, I was told that this is the method that the music industry is using to sway people from just downloading songs now. They distribute this "fake" file or whatnot, it spreads, and people get so pissed with downloading songs and just getting this shit, that they just go out and buy the music finally. Is that true, or just some lie? If that isn't the case, then what in the hell is up with Kazaa? I haven't really had this problem on any of the other downloading programs, at least not yet. Have any of you ran into this problem yet? Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Does it sound like a whatchamacallit on a phone? Because I get that a lot on new songs (mainly the fucking DareDevil soundtrack.) It's really fucking annoying, but if you wait a few days, a real version will come up.

So do you think it's something that the music industry is actually doing to piss people off enough to go buy music?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Whats the rating on the file? If its got a high rating, give it a low one, and note its low quality as well.
Guest Phr33k Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Another advantage to liking older music: the record industry doesn't care because it doesn't sell.
Guest SP-1 Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 I was under the impression that it was simply because they are demo copies of the songs that went out before the soundtrack was released so radio stations could check the songs out and whatknot. Though the sound is probably to deterr them from uploading it online. That's my guess anyway. There are probably full, good versions out there, it'll just be a search. And yes. The DareDevil soundtrack is a bitch. I finally gave up. Luckily, I want to buy Evanesence anyway.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 It's the stupid fucking fakes. -.- *pokes IRC* Most *cough* "legitimate software distrobution" channels have full albums, too. Just new ones, but hey.

Guest RenegadeX28 Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Yep, I had that problem DLing Evanescence. It has that weird woosh sound..
Guest redbaron51 Posted March 8, 2003 Report Posted March 8, 2003 Another advantage to liking older music: the record industry doesn't care because it doesn't sell. I found a few Pink Floyd and The Doors songs edited out with that sound... hell The End had that annoying sound plus cut out when Morrison was talking about killing his parents...
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 YOUR ALL BREAKING THE FUCKING LAW! That it, I'm telling Lars Ulrich... UYI
Guest phoenixrising Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 Had the same problem with the Evanescence song too. Downloaded two copies with the swoosh sound, third time's a charm. When I tried to download Seether's "Fine Again" I got the same thing. Just keep trying different versions until you get one that doesn't have a swoosh.
Guest hardyz1 Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 I haven't gotten the swoosh, but I have gotten the repeating chrous.
Guest Retro Rob Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 That's funny. I dl'ed a perfect version of the Evanescence song in one shot.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted March 9, 2003 Report Posted March 9, 2003 yea, I've only gotten the repeating chorus
Guest Mole Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I've got a firewall at school, so Kazaa only connects when it wants to.
Garth Posted March 10, 2003 Report Posted March 10, 2003 I've had the same problem wit Evenseace as well, wondered if i was the only one with the problem guess i'm not.
Guest utahprowrestler Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 I've never had this problem and I DL music regularly... hmmmmmmm.... but it does sound like something the *music industry* would do! UPW - Utah Pro Wrestler
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 Why don't you guys stop using Kazaa. WinMX and Shareaza has the same amount of music with out that crap. BTW: Kazaa has spyware and forces popups OVER your Popup killer. Get Shareaza.
