Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted March 10, 2003 When I was posting inside of the Sunday Night Heat thread, while we were commenting on Michaels/Jericho, I brought up a question about the match. I was wondering, what does everyone think the star rating on the match will be? I mean, we know it won't be a DUD, as it's Jericho, and he hasn't had a DUD in a long time, likewise with Michaels, unless you push Armageddon to be a DUD...so I'm considering how well the match will come off. I'm going to predict the match is ***1/2 to ****, based entirely on the fact that it's Wrestlemania, and each man will be bringing their best match. So what does everyone else think about the match? FigureFourTapes 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I think about the same as you, as it will be good but nothing great. I wish Shawn would have left after Summerslam, he's one of my favorites and to think of his piss poor excuses these days.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted March 10, 2003 i'm really looking forward to this, since JEricho is my fav. wrestler and Michaels was one of my favorites in the past. I really hope HBK puts Jericho over in the match, and i think is gonna be really good too....
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 *** tops because Shawn's lost whatever he had in the tank since the Elimination Chamber.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 10, 2003 *gets out can opener and opens can of worms* Probably about ***. Michaels was never that "good" to begin with. He was exciting but even those days have passed.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Jericho has had a tendancy to carry even unwatchable workers to bearable matches though in the last year though (Hogan comes to mind) so this might be a surprise. I think a **** is a fair estimate given the situation at hand (being it Mania) plus the fact that I know at least with Jericho, he's always wanted to work with Michaels, so this is a dream for him. Michaels hasn't worked a singles match since HHH at Armageddon so he'll be rested and ready to go hopefully. I think a big indication of how good this will be has to do also on how much time they give the match to tell a story. If its treated like a basic undercard match, then this wont be anything special. But if its treated like a main event match (which it should be, hell how long have they been building this match up?), then it might deliver. This is one of the few matches for Mania they've done a halfway decent of a build to, BTW.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 10, 2003 **-**1/2. It will be watchable, but HBK is done and Jericho isn't that good at carrying limited workers. It expect it to be around the same as HHH/Booker.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Jericho IS good carrying limited workers (Hogan, Steiner, etc) and those are some pretty bad workers, while HBK is still pretty decent in the ring, so i say it will probably be ***+ plus since it's Wrestlemani they'll bust their asses more... Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Hell I love Jericho and I don't think those matches were watchable. They were terrible.

Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted March 10, 2003 they're RAW matches and they last like 5minutes, * or ** is pretty good IMO, and the match with Jeff at NWO was pretty good too

Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 10, 2003 My feelings when it comes to ratings is that as long as the match is over 5 minutes and I can sit through it without having to hit the FF button, it deserves at least a ** 1/2, but thats just me. And somehow Jericho carried both of those guys to the best matches they had in months (in Steiners and Hogans cases, in perhaps years). But to each their own. Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Jericho/HBK has been getting better sell and heat then the Title Match. This is Wrestle Mania...Shawn always steps up for a "BIG" match. This is Jericho's dream to face Shawn in such a Magificent stage like this one. With the likelyhood of alot of heat for this match...and since WWE has really been selling this angle...I expect them to give it 15-25 minutes....Jericho would easily carry Shawn. (Odd thing to say "Carry Shawn"). I'm expecting a Brawl/Mat style match here...I expect a good bloddy match here...I was saying that this would be a Retirement Match for a while but Vince missed the boat on it and gave it to Hogan to add something to it. I will go with ***3/4-**** here.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 10, 2003 This is one of the matches Im actually thinking of getting the ppv for. HBK never pulls up limp at WM, and Im confiant Jericho will bring it. It would also be really cool if Shawn does the job here. Not too big a stretch, HBKs put more than one person over big at WM before. I think this match could definitly break ****. Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 10, 2003 **1/2 stars for not having to fast forward? Does fast forwarding through Jericho and Steiner because of the sheer slow crapiness and balancing my checkbook during Hardy/Jericho make them bad matches then? It does to me. Those persons he put over, were any during the times he was really getting pushed, not a member of the Kliq, and didn't need to be coerced (like the job to Austin)? Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Yeah I understand about your desire to see this match, as do I, My Fav of the 90's vs my modern fav... But when did Shawn EVER put anyone over at mania? WM5-Jobbed to Bossman and Akeem. WM6-Drugged and jobbed to Orient Express WM7-Had a shocking ***3/4 tag match with FOF...went nowhere after that. WM8- Went over Old Vetern Santana WM9-Never ending Countout win WMX-Jobbed in MATCH that elevated him. WMX1-Jobbed to his Good Buddy Nashie. WMXII-Went over in the One Hour Ballet Wmxii-Suffering the crippling Smileotcomy. Wmxiv-Had to be threatened to lay down to Biggest upcoming star in years dispite Career ending Injury... Who exactly has Shawn Put over I must ask....
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Dude......Akeem was propelled to superstardom by that victory!
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I'm expecting *** at best. HBK is more competent in the ring than Steiner and Hogan, and should be easier to carry. Since he isn't 300 pounds of dead weight, Jericho should be able to toss him around. If HBK doesn't put Jericho over then something is wrong here. With each passing match Shawn has less and less, hopefully Wrestlemania is his match for a while if not forever. If he does have to wrestle again it should be at WM XX where I hope they have a lot of workers from the past make some kind of an appearance.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted March 10, 2003 The WMX match was a loss to Razor (buddy) in the classic ladder match, and the next year was another job, albeit to another buddy. HBK certainly didnt seem to enjoy the idea of putting Austin over but he did cleanly and bumped his ass off when he probably physically shouldnt have. It cemented Stone cold as champion at the show that really kicked the attitude era into high gear. 2 of HBKs big WM jobs were to friends but he did put them over big, as well as Austin. I can see where HBK could be a dick here and pull some bullshit, I definitly agree it stands a good chance of happening. But I also wouldnt be suprised at all if he really does put Y2J over either. And Id really be suprised tho if the match fails to break ***1/2 stars.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 10, 2003 What??? Cemented? Austin could've been still the draw he was if HBK just walked in there and did a Paint by numbers match....He didn't put no one over...Shawn was glory seeking that night. He knew ESPN and The News crews were watching this...
Guest jester Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I just hope that a) HBK puts Jericho over (because I won't believe it until it happens), and b) HBK doesn't get injured during the match. Because if Jericho is anywhere near HBK when he gets hurt- "If you uh think I buried you uh deep the first uh time, you ain't uh seen nothing."
Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted March 10, 2003 These star ratings are way too complicated for me, but I'm cautiously optimistic about this not sucking. In fact, of all the matches still scheduled, it looks like the best chance for a good match. Not counting Hogan-McMahon, of course.
HurriShane 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Jericho has really been on top of his game as of late, and HBK has always risen to the occasion at Wrestlemania. So I'm expecting this one to bring down the house. My prediction- ****1/
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 If they keep hyping it up the way they have been, then hopefully the match will be at LEAST ****. Since both have very strong crowd reactions, then I'm assuming the crowd will be off the charts.

Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Exactly.......Rock/Hogan.....still one of the worst matches ever IMO. Screw what the crowd had to say. That doesn't have a bit to do with what I'm watching inside the ring.
