Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 3. SpiderPoet Though I'll always mark harder for Angle and Benoit, I'll admit it: my voice was proudly part of the chorus of Brock cheers at the last Thanksgiving Smackdown. Hell, we marked for Brock in a Metroid Prime/WWE commercial.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I was at Survivor Series where the crowd EXPLODED for Brock. Him hitting the F5 on Show was one of the loudest pops I've ever been a part of live.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Aye. Wasn't the Thanksgiving SD! the first time he F-5'ed Show? I saw the run-in coming a mile away. I was sitting camera side, and across the way I could see security guarding one of the crowd entrances, and a way sort of being cleared in the audience (as I remember). I just waited for the pop. EDIT: And I will add this: Brock Lesnar is incredibly fast for someone of his size. He bolted through the crowd for that run-in.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 10, 2003 The first F5 was at the Survivor Series. He covered Show but Heyman pulled out at the ref at the two count. The crowd was PISSED when that happened

The crowd was PISSED when that happened Are you sure? I remember people bitching on here because it hurt the story for Brock to have F-5'ed Show before SS. Coulda been Heyman he got though. *shrugs*
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I'm 99.9% sure the first F5 was on November 17th which was the date of the Survivor Series and before Thanksgiving
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I think you're right. For some reason I was thinking that Survivor Series was after Thanksgiving.

Guest Banky Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Only time I've ever liked Brock was when he got up before the Rock layed the People's Elbow down and F5'd him. It was great.
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I mark for Brock. I missed wrestling for six months when I was in Australia. When I left he was a heatless heel, when I came back he was a monster over face....and quickly became one of my favorites.

Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I mark for Brock. He's no God of wrestling and his shoulder thrusts piss me the hell off, but I like him on my TV. I own his first shirt, too.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I Mark For Brock.... Oh, fuck it. I'm just saying that so the sloppy ass won't drop Angle on his neck on Thursday. Brock's matches still haven't impressed me, his "charisma" is shoddy at best, and he is the worst mic worker at least on the Smackdown side. Other then that, though. Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I wouldn't say I marked for him, but he is pretty cool. He was better as a heel, though.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I mark for Brock...he's the only one being shoved down our throats that I can actually stand now. He did get too much too soon though.

Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 10, 2003 This guy, whilst being given the jesus push andthe youngest ever world title win, DID get fucked over a few times. Undertaker should be shot for the unforgiven match. Triple H handed himself another world title so brock was no longer sole champion and thus his crediblity was sliced in half. I think he HAS improved a lot, I thoroughly enjoyed the Hulk-busting on smackdown more than any other Hogan match in years and years. Brock showed fine heel charisma during the opening sequence and I cackled with glee every time he shrugged off the hulk-ups. NO ONE'S MAKING THE SAVE, TERRY!*BAM!* BWAHAHAHA. What you have to remember is the guy hasn't had a long match with anyone good yet, save the rock. The over-the-shoulder body vice, the F5 out of the ring at the rumble and the one into the post show he's developing his power offense extremely well. And he is Insanely fucking strong. Undertaker should be shot for the unforgiven match. I HATE that. What the fuck was Taker supposed to do? They needed to have a reason for the October PPV match, or Lord Knows who else would have been sacrificed at the altar of Brock. And he is Insanely fucking strong. PLEASE. If you want to like Brock, like him for some other reason, because none of you go apeshit for Mark Henry.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted March 10, 2003 There are better ways to prolong a feud than to do what Taker did.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Actually, the plan was not to run Taker/Brock two months in a row. Taker's four words just happened to change things.

Guest DrTom Report post Posted March 10, 2003 PLEASE. If you want to like Brock, like him for some other reason, because none of you go apeshit for Mark Henry. The difference is that Mark Henry just wrestles as a generic fat guy who's strong. Oooh, he gorilla pressed a cruiserweight. That's impressive. Brock has been built up as power wrestler, and gave the Big Slow and F5, with almost no help from Slow, while he had a cracked rib. That's fucking STRONG, no matter how you slice it or whom you compare him to, and I was damn impressed. Personally, I've liked Brock since he debuted. He probably needs a mouthpiece, and I wish they'd expand his offense a bit, but I've always liked him.

There are other reasons to like Brock besides his strength. I don't think that shold be a main reason why you like him.
Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I am a crazed Brock mark. The impressive thing about the strength is that its backed up with speed, and a good sense of when to inject his power spots and how to vary them. He was better as a heel simply because he was allowed to come up with such nasty offense at times. Apart from all the major stuff, my favourite Brock moment was when he faced Rey Mysterio, hung him upside down and splatted him into a ring post. It was just so insanely vicious. Anyhoo, Brock's initial so-called "jesus" push was executed in the worst possible way. The Hardyz and RVD feuds were just terribly written and made Brock look entirely reliant on Heyman. It was from Vengeance onwards that I really started liking Brock, mostly because his character was given some development in that kick-ass feud with Rock. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2003 Just to add on, I don't think (anymore) Brock is as horrible as his matches on TV. Based on house shows and basic logic, I tend to think he's been hiding the good and having the not so good matches so his Mania match (with Kurt at the time) Was more impressive. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I think you have to concede that his superior strength allows him to perform to a better extent with a greater variety of wrestlers. Mark Henry is ONLY strong, with zero else. Brock is fast as well, and has shown himself to be innovative in what really, albeit involving a Jesus push, has been a career with very little wrestling substance to it due to the conventions of sportz entertainment. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 10, 2003 I think you have to concede that his superior strength allows him to perform to a better extent with a greater variety of wrestlers. Then Mark Henry? Of course, but it has nothing to do with his (Brock) strength. Brock can perform with more people because he is BETTER than Mark Henry. And not fat. I really, really, really, REALLY don't care about Brock's strength. I could give a shit how strong he is. I'm waiting for the NCAA champion to wrestle.
