What's next for Greg Helms?

Helms now has a pinfall victory on The Rock. How will this affect his career? I don't see him being pushed very hard with his current comedy gimmick. Maybe he could use a differant one.

I don't see the "payoff" in the Rocky/Hurricane storyline if Helms just goes back to what he was before. It's been great these past few weeks (even though the match just sucked, and the ending was fucked up), but if they don't do more with him after this, then what is the point of it? I hate to tell Helms, but he isn't the type of guy where his heat will remain from this by just being himself.

This didn't REALLY help him at all, and I predict that he'll back where he was before all of this took place.

They really botched the ending of the match by the way. I loved Austin coming out and just standing there with Helms getting the roll up, but damnit, Austin's music should NOT have been playing. To me, that took away totally from Helms' win, we couldn't even hear the crowd pop over Austin's music damnit. Then they just had Helms leave, we didn't see him celebrate at all, and he was gone and nothing was said at all. Let's face it...

...this entire Rocky/Hurricane thing was done ONLY to further Rocky/Austin, and that's that. It's nothing more than HHH/RVD in the HHH/HBK thing a few months ago. It did nothing for RVD, and this will do nothing at all for Hurricane. These types of guys are nothing more than simple pawns in WWE's "game" it seems, *sigh*.

I don't see how anyone can disagree with what I've said, especially my last paragraph. If you can make me see this differently, please do, as I really want to believe they have plans for Helms, but I just don't see that at all.

Well, the Intercontinental title is gone, and The Hurricane isn't going after the top belt...

I'm guessing it's back to the mid-card for him. He needs a good feud to help push him up the ladder...even then though, he might be too damn small.

I say he'll be jobbing to 3 Minute Warning on Heat in a week or two, his spot in the Raw main events beating former world champs will be forgotten and never mentioned again.

No mid-card belt to shoot for = No reason to care about midcarders getting pushes.

= all non main event matches pointless...which is why RAW is bad.

Just remember that Rico got a pinfall over Ric Flair, and fell back into obscurity after. Because of that, I don't have much hope of Helms recieving anything.

Helms could've received a good push after tonight's victory, but there's seriously NO WAY to take advantage of it. At this point, Hurricane could've deserved a long European or IC title reign to establish his heat, but instead he has to sit on his hands next week with the rest of the non-Main Eventers and hope that they get a shot at the top.

Remember when RVD beat Austin via Kurt's music distracting Austin? Same deal applies here.....

it wont affect him at all because when someone is treated like a total joke for so long , that one big pin over a guy doesnt exactly shoot them up instantly

if anything it makes the loss by Rock look like even more of a joke or fluke.. you need to do that stuff with a guy who has some steam behind him in order to make it work

remember Mark Henry pinned the Rock on PPV that didnt exactly work either

You guys are getting all bitchy over a mid-card title that meant little if anything. It was just fodder and for the last few years, aside from the Jericho-Benoit-Angle-Eddy period, it's been treated like a joke. Who has ever been elevated purely through their association with taht belt? And alot more entertaining feuds come along without it.

That's just crap booking though. When has the RAW Heavyweight title elevate anyone? Exactly. In theory, a midcard title CAN bring someone up to a new level. It's been done by WWE in the past. They just need to get their act together.

There's a reason it's called a mid-card title. It may help someone get to a certain level but past that it's had very little help getting anywhere else.

And the RAW belt has been around for less than half a year and held by one person. Who's it supposed to elevate?

I think the match might've been better if it wasn't for Hurricane's neck injury a few weeks ago. I'm not saying it was the main reason or that it even played a factor...just saying it's a possibility.

There's no point in bitching over Helms going back to the mid-card, since we know it will happen. So, who should he feud with next?

If he wasn't so green, I might suggest Nowinski....except the 'I'm smarter than everyone' gimmick is played out. In the heat thread, there were suggestions of creating a Heat title, which would give the Heat guys something to do. Stevie and Hurricane have had some awesome matches, but I don't see any reason for the two to feud. Which means nothing, since this is WWE. They should just trade him back to SD, in my opinion.

C'mon, be serious. Do you really expect "the Hurricane" to be Main Eventing anytime soon, if ever at all?

My best hope is that the Hurricane will become a midcarder instead of a jobber after this. That might happen, as he seems to be getting wins as of late. They'll probably play it off for a few weeks, give him a token victory over Jericho, and then forget it ever happened.

I'm sure it won't be forgotten yet. The Rock/Hurricane segments are too good to stop right now. Hurricane will probably rub it in Rock's face next week.

I stronly disagree with all of you. Midcarder? No way, he'll be in the main event again, just you wait and see. Sure, after The Rock leaves it may seem like all of this has been forgotten, but someone will remember, oh, yes, someone will remember.

Within a few months we'll have a backstage confrontation, a vignette if you will, between Triple-H and the Hurricane ("Hey, that's MY hero sandwich!" "Not any more-uh, Hamburglar.") which is guaranteed to end with the glorious writer's-have-overcome-their-amnesia epiphany of "You may have beaten-, uh, pinned The Rock clean in the middle of the ring, but if you step in their with me you're moving up to the major leagues, not fighting some Hollywood wannabe. No, you're going to be facing the greatest-uh, wrestler that this business has ever seen, The Game!"

This will lead to J.R. also have a hazy moment of recognition: "That's right, King, he did beat The Rock! But will he have even the slimmest of chances against the best damn wrestler in the game today? Our main event is next!"

So you see, Hurricane will be back at the top of the card after Rock's gone. Heck, he may even get a little offense in as well.

Didn't Triple H already "Bury" Hurricane during the Katie Vick rubbish?

The Rock is kind of like Bret Hart in the 90's. The Rock will help get "Mid-Carders" over, or a new Main Event guy, only for someone like Triple H, Austin, Taker, etc., to bury the person right after.

Bret Hart puts over Yokosuna. Hogan buries Yoko 3 minutes later.

Bret Hart puts over Bob Backlund. Nash buries Bob a few days later in 3 seconds.

Bret Hart tries to help Ken Shamrock get over only for HBK to bury him.

So on and so on.

yes he was cast off like a gnat

like maven and al snow

and while JR or King should acknowledge that trips (in character) is above guys like Hurricane , Maven, or Snow ..you shouldnt make a huge deal about it AND should play up strengths of the lesser guys and how they can use those..i mean now is a guy who TRAINS wrestlers so at least he should be able to think of a move to temporaily stop HHH no?

and Maven and Hurrican are lighter , quicker so you play that up..the announcers still could say "i dont like so and so's chances " but you dont say oh these 2 are clearly not in HHH's league becuase you say that and the audience says "well why should i care about them?"

Problem with giving Helms an new look is that you take away the facepaint...He looks even goofier...he looks like a 15 year old esp with the braces. He can't be Greg Helms like he was before the Hurricane Gimmick...

as for his status? Here is an scenario I'd LOVE to see...

On "Raw" Next week, Have Rock meet with Bischoff and totatlly bitch about being screwed and losing to Hurricane and he can DEMAND DEMAND DEMAND! That Hurricane gets traded to Smackdown because he tried to Upstage the Rock. Bischoff not wanting to piss off Mr. McMahon says Yes....

On Smackdown...We Open up with Hurricane certain jerking after he cuts a little thing on Rock and he has a good short match with Knoble and becomes one of the SMD Cruiser Staples along Rey, Knoble, Kidman, Chavo, Tajiri etc. etc.

It does TWO things...

1). Sells Rock as an Vindictive asshole

2). Puts on Hurricane on Smackdown where he belongs...

After RAW last night its the best time to push the guy . I don't know how far he can go with this gimmick of his and be taken seriously . If they only had the Intercontinental belt as everyone else has previously said it would be the perfect fit for him at the time . As Choken One said he somehow someway needs to be moved to Smackdown where he can get down in the cruiser division where he could truly shine .

I disagree. He won't have the super-hero gimmick forever, y'know?

It's been my opinion that Hurricane has needed a gimmick change for a while. It was fun for a time, but it's now run it's course. Or at least add a new dimension to Hurricane. Hell, I'd love it if he turned heel while still thinking he was a face, almost like when the character was first introduced (make him a vigilante superhero or something). But I doubt the writing staff has the acumen to keep it up.

I like Choken's idea for bringing Hurricane back to SD though.

Sure, But Greg Helms won't set the world on fire either...I say he is better off sticking with Hurricane for awhile since he is likely NEVER going to reach any higher then Midcarder and is best suited for a Comedy Cruiser...
