Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Jimmy Kavalieratos sent this. ... I just got an e-mail from MTV cable rep here in Virginia. HEAT is moving to TNN for good starting on April 6th. I haven't gotten the above item confirmed, but I can tell you that everyone I spoke to in WWE about it told me that they wouldn't be surprised to hear that had happened. MTV has basically lost interest in Heat and TNN is going to an "all male" network strategy and Heat fits right into that thought process. 1wrestling
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted March 12, 2003 That's fine with me. MTV doesn't even promote the show anyway. I think this means Tough Enough is history too!
Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Its been in the works for a while to movie it over there..TNN has wanted to have everything it can WWE over there to go with its new "guy network" image
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Considering ratings were above normal for Heat when it was on TNN a few weeks back, this probably sped up the process.
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Well, I knew that was going to happen. MTV didn't care much for Heat anyways.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 heh well that cuts in the TNN block of NEXT Generation marathon on Sundays lol
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Any mention of whether it would be keeping the 7 p.m. Sunday timeslot if it moves to TNN? I can only assume that only the channel is changing, not the show time. As for what channel it is on, I don't really think it makes a difference. The only time the show strayed away from its in-arena wrestling-based format was when it first went on MTV and was televised from WWF NY. Once that format got dumped, it became just like the other B-level shows (which was a good thing in this case).
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I'm just pissed we never got to see MTV stars like Johnny Stamboli or Crash or TRL. Seriously. I would've killed one of you and meticulously eliminated any and/or all possible links to me for that.
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Oh, and I just forgot to say, I really think that if this happens, they should have an angle where Eric Bischoff forces Velocity off of TNN since he has the muscle of three hours of original wrestling programming each week behind him. Then eventually Stephanie concedes and she hypes up Velocity's new timeslot, but the kicker is it's on a different station every time. The fans have to find it. It's a great idea and I'm a genius because it makes the product interactive to a degree or degrees previously unheard and unspoken of.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I just hope they show in on TNN up here in Canada. I get TNN in much clearer than the station they show it on here.

Almost no one watches either show when they run without competition, so why hurt the ratings even more by placing them head-to-head? I could understand if decent matches with upper card wrestlers took place on those shows, but it's usually fucking Albert and Maven.

Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 I don't understand why they don't have at least ONE big star on both Heat and Velocity every week to get draw. I think Rock/Austin on Heat wrestling a new talent or something would add more ratings in.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Isn't it on Sportsnet? Yep, but that station comes in like crap on my cable for whatever reason. Then again, at least I don't have to put up with many of the crappy WWE commercials on Sportsnet, so maybe it's a good thing.

You liked it enough to read it, big boy. Almost no one watches either show when they run without competition, so why hurt the ratings even more by placing them head-to-head? I could understand if decent matches with upper card wrestlers took place on those shows, but it's usually fucking Albert and Maven. I didn't say anything about head-to-head, ya knucklehead. I didn't saying nothing about none of that. But if I end up reading my post later and find out I did, I'll be sure to edit it out and add in a diversionary "EDIT: corrected a typo" to throw people off my track. Then who'll be the knucklehead, huh? And Albert and Maven are both hot little numbers and studs, could you blame it? I don't understand why they don't have at least ONE big star on both Heat and Velocity every week to get draw. I think Rock/Austin on Heat wrestling a new talent or something would add more ratings in. Yeah, I know what you mean. They could at least do some lower card angles more often and do some experimenting. It's like they want the B-shows to fail. maybe but I think WWE realizes that pre ppv heats usually do better ratings That's weird, kinda. Since I never really want to watch an hour of recaps of stuff I saw recapped on all the other Heats and all the Velocities. But I understand ... people don't care about Chuck Palumbo or Steven Richards.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 12, 2003 They likely figured out that Sundays at 7pm isn't going to get good ratings regardless so why make the "stars" wrestle an extra match that few will watch. Other than the first month I don't think Heat ever got good ratings even when it still used some "stars". Also there's no good secondary stars/wrestlers on Raw which hurts Heat since it's a show for Raw's secondary stars/wrestlers. Velocity isn't as bad because they have the cruisers and secondary stars who are somewhat over from Smackdown to fill the show with. If they change the day that Heat's on they'd probably change the time slot as well.

I think Rock/Austin on Heat wrestling a new talent or something would add more ratings in. There was that time they put Angle on Velocity and had Bob Holly almost beat him. My therapist suggests that we devote extra time to that topic.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted March 12, 2003 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a time that Heat was edging into the 4's for USA? And that was basically without the biggest names.

When Heat first debuted in August 1998, it was the #2 show. They had the stars appear (there was no Smackdown bak then), it wasn't just squash matches either. I believe the first main event of Heat was Mankind vs. The Undertaker. Vince Russo once said Heat was a "One hour build up till Raw." Once Smackdown became a weekly show in late '99, Heat slowly started to fade away to what it is today.

Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2003 SON OF A BITCH! So... basically... I have to PAY FUCKING EXTRA to watch EVERY GODDAMN WWE SHOW BESIDES SMACKDOWN? Oh, wait, brilliant idea! Let's move SMACKDOWN to TNN! Luckily, they can't do that, but still! Goddamn it, how much does that fucking Total Choice package for DirectTV cost, anyway?
