Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Some tension between agents over a changed spot at the end. The Kurt Angle vs. Brian Kendrick match from Smackdown a few weeks ago was originally laid out by Michael Hayes, who booked a spot at the end where Kendrick would kick out of the Angle Slam. Terry Taylor and Kurt Angle both agreed that it wasn’t a good idea for Kendrick to kick out of the move, so Taylor brought the objection to Vince McMahon, who removed the spot. Hayes was reportedly upset at the change, and especially upset it was Terry Taylor who went to Vince. credit: Wrestling Observer Newsletter I totally agree here. Why the Hell would you have a rookie kick out of the World Champions finish? This is what Steve Austin has been talking about. The Wrestlers should get to lay out most of their matches themselves and even work on the fly in the ring. Not everything needs to be choreograph
Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted March 13, 2003 It's stupid to have him to kick out. Now being in the ropes. That's a different story.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 13, 2003 God damnit! I screwed up the title. Can a Mod change "Worth" to "Worst" thanks
Guest snowfan Report post Posted March 13, 2003 It's stupid to have him to kick out. Now being in the ropes. That's a different story. I am certain HgH would have allowed the lad to kick out of the Pedigree. It's crap. If BS Michael Hayes gets to throw his weight around on this matter and eventually get Angle or some other technical wrestler to be made to look like a chump without the Mr. Stephanie McMahon ever being held to the same standards the in-ring product will be an even bigger joke than it is. Not that I see vast improvements on the horoizon anyway with angle being gone a year or more from hard matches. snowfan
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 there should have been some technicality during the match where when Kenrick was getting pinned he had a arm or a leg in the ropes or outside the rings when the 3 count was sound. that way Angle still SQUASHES him but Kendrick still keeps his job on the On Air Premise and no one would look bad. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 13, 2003 That would have been a bad finish. I like the way they ended it...still kept Kurt as the top dog by beating the kid in the time limit, and he did waste a lot of time messing with him...and it got Brian over by making the champ go down to the wire, plus he got some good offense in. The worst thing they did was not have him on tv the next week...I know it was part of the angle and all...but the crowd was WAY into him in that match. Guest Steviekick Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I was fine with the outcome of the match. Having Kendrick kick out of the Angle Slam would have been completely ridicuouls.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Having Kendrick kick out of the Angle Slam is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Unless you are looking to push him to the main events immediately, and no, Kendrick SHOULD not be pushed that hard or that fast, nor WILL he be.
Garth 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 it would be really stupid for them to of had Kendrick kick out of the angle slam it would of made it look like a nothing move which they don't want for there champions finisher.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 If that would have gone through . . . I think Anglesault would have had a heart attack before he could post.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Dammit, Freebird, what kind of stupid finish is that? Foot on the ropes or something might have been all right, but KICKING OUT OF THE ANGLE SLAM? Jeez, SOMEONE dislikes Kurt...
Guest Breetai Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Wow. Let's book a total rookie to kick out of our champion's finisher in his first match. Even WCW wasn't as retarded as this.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 13, 2003 Who cares? Everyone else has kicked out of the Olympic Slam. I wanna see Angle hit someone with the Olympic Slam twice, and have them kick out both times. Then Angle hits a pump handle Olympic Slam for the win. Kindof like Akiyami with the Exploder. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 You know what... given what that match was...teying to survive 5 minutes with Angle... I say kicking out would have been a tremendous spot. What does it hurt Angle? He isn't losing the match. The problem is that the WWE would never follow up on it with a push for Kendrick. Sounds like a legitimite way to put someone over and GET THEM over without having to job.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Does this shock anyone? The creative team gets kicks out of fucking Angle. I'm surprised it was changed.
