Guest Steviekick Report post Posted March 13, 2003 from blabbermouth.net ANDREW W.K. has set "Blow Your Bone" as the working title for the follow-up to his critically-acclaimed debut, "I Get Wet", tentatively due in September through Island DefJam Records. "We had some problems," W.K. said of the working title during an interview with Rolling Stone. "It was supposed to be about taking a bone — like a chicken bone that a dog would want to chew on — and blowing it up with dynamite. People read into that in a weird way. Some stores said they wanted to carry the next record but didn't want that title, to the point where we were forced to change the name. It still might be called that . . . At the end of the day I'm going to do what I want to do and we'll deal with it when it comes." ANDREW W.K. is working with producer Mr. Boesch at a New York City studio and is sifting through twenty-five tracks for the effort. "Just to give a general sense," he says, "it's really going to blow the other album out of the water in terms of content and in terms of actual quantity." Among the tracks set to be included on the forthcoming album are the following: 01. Violent Life 02. Never Ending Party 03. Close Calls With Brick Walls 04. Kicks and Bricks 05. Addicted to Life 06. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted March 13, 2003 I wonder if all these songs will sound exactly alike all the songs that sounded exactly alike on the last CD. Hit one key on a piano over again, then have the rest of the band kick in and play one chord the entire song while he screams something about partying or having a good time. Here's the part I like. I like the part where he says the new album has more quantity than the last one. Is that a good selling point? This record is better because there is MORE of the same song on it! Not more quality but more quantity!! Sometimes when I'm depressed I think back to the time that everybody said Andrew WK was going to "save rock and roll" and I start laughing hysterically. I'd imagine that he was eating chicken wings at the time. They UK music press creamed over him when his album came out in the fall of 2001 (it wasn't released until spring the following year, stateside). While the NME may have blatantly done that kind of thing over and over for many moons most of the music press isn't quite as petty and will give it a fair shake. As for critical response, W.K. was indeed slagged in the States, but there was a smattering of critics who "got it." Stephen Thompson, of the The Onion's AV Club, immediately comes to mind.
