Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Steve Austin News: Neck In Bad Shape, Upset Over Reactions Posted By Ashish on 03.14.03 The Rattlesnake's return isn't going as well as he had of hoped... WWE continues to get bad news in regards to injuries. Steve Austin's neck is in much worse shape than originally thought. Austin already has undergone neck surgery, a surgery similar to the one Kurt Angle will soon undergo. When Austin originally returned, the plan was for him to work a full-time schedule. However, he will now likely work a part-time schedule to try and preserve his neck for as long as possible. Steve Austin is said to be very frustrated and demoralized by the news since he was excited about returning to a full-time schedule. Austin also has apparently been upset due to the somewhat disappointing reaction that his RAW return got on March 3rd at Nassau Coliseum. Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Austin is not a draw anymore, he is doing the same routine he was doing last year right b4 he took his ball and left, for the 1 millionth time it's time to elevate RVD,Jericho and Book.

He is still a draw, but I agree with everything else you said. He might not be a draw much longer if people catch on that he has nothing left though. I don't have a lot of faith in this Rock/Austin match at Mania. Rocky has his work cut out for him.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Austin may be a working a tired shtick, but he's always been a good wrestler. I think the match should still go fine. About the neck, since he already had the fusing-thingy done, does that mean he'll eventually have to get the Super Fusing of Doom that automatically ends your career? Guest the no selling Pencil Report post Posted March 14, 2003 The Super Fusing of Ron Simmons and Butch Reed that sounds very weird but at least Teddy Long will then have 2 Wrestlers to Manage LOL
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Sounds like it, STR. We may be getting a completely new set of guy on top soon at this rate, as Rock will be going back to Hollywood, Angle and Austin have bad necks and may retire, and Taker and Trips have nagging injuries that may also make them retire. This will probably be what snaps the string of PPVs being ME'd by the Gang Of Four (Austin, Rock, Taker, Trips) in the near future and, HOPEFULLY, gets Vince off his ass to create new stars. (And Vince better listen to the fans and choose people who are already somewhat over... NOT pushing f*cking A-Train as a top heel.)

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Austin's still a draw, and he should still be at the main event level...but the last thing I want to see right now is another Austin vs management angle. Just do whatever you have to do to keep the man happy, Vince.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted March 14, 2003 I was reading that Austin's contract expires later this year. Although it's been said in years past, it wouldn't surprise me should he finally hang up his boots. Especially with the news coming out about his apparently weak(er) neck. It really is high time he began putting over whomever he can (within reason).
Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 I give it about 2 months before Austin vs. Bischoff, Morely, and 3MW is declared dead in the water and Austin has to put over Brock, Eddy, Benoit, and several other guys. Unfortunately, Nathan Jones and Albert will probably get the first shot at him.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 The Super Fusing of Ron Simmons and Butch Reed that sounds very weird but at least Teddy Long will then have 2 Wrestlers to Manage LOL That was one of the funniest, most unexpected things I've read in a long time. The Super Fusing of Doom is a hilarious quote in and of itself! Dames
Guest razazteca Report post Posted March 14, 2003 So can we expect a work schedule similiar to what Shawn Michaels is doing, 3 PPVs a year, with the occassional beat someone up with one move than pose until the commercial break?
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted March 14, 2003 I don't have a lot of faith in this Rock/Austin match at Mania. Rocky has his work cut out for him. I never in my life thought I would agree with that or say myself "The Rock is going to have to carry Austin."
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Austin's in better ring shape then Rock I'd imagine. Rock's work has been so limited, Austin's been training at his house.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted March 14, 2003 I like Austin, but frankly they need to actually make new stars. Yet they put it off, put it off, rely on the same old guys... Rock's going to be retiring after Mania, likely. HHH is being held together with tape and glue. Austin won't be around much longer and Taker is not a draw. Besides Brock, I don't see any new stars being made. Angle may join them, but Benoit, Rhyno, and Austin have been able to wrestle after the neck fu-sion-ha of two vertebrae, so hopefully he'll be back in a year. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Well, Rock could work after Mania and put someone over. RVD maybe. HHH could put over Booker immediately. HBK is putting over Jericho, at least I'm assuming. And down the line, Austin could put over someone. Who's left on RAW?
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted March 14, 2003 No matter how old, how injured, or how stale Austin is, never ever EVER say that he's going to need to be carried by The fucking Rock. As for fusing the Natural and Ron Simmons together, well, that's just gross, seriously.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted March 14, 2003 I wasn't all that excited for Austin's return and he hasn't done much to change my mind about that. Before his 'sabbatical' he had become a very poor worker. On top of that, his character was completely stale. He had no direction, and the 'What' stuff totally killed his promos. None of that has changed. Maybe his poor workrate was totally a motivational issue, but is he that much happier right now? And he's not in very good shape physically, he's carrying some flab. But, hopefully he's happy to be in the main event and will adjust his effort accordingly. Him and Rock have always worked great together. Whether or not the match is great though, some changes will have to be made afterwards for Austin to be beneficial to the product overall.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted March 15, 2003 Austin's in better ring shape then Rock I'd imagine. Rock's work has been so limited, Austin's been training at his house. i disagree--i think the less rocky is wrestling, the better he seems to get. last year, when he was only back for a month, he was kicking all kinds of ass in the ring. rocky's also still in top physical shape, and has obviously been taking better care of himself than austin in the past year (who looked kind of winded after beating eric bischoff, and could stand to lose about 20 pounds). Guest Brian Report post Posted March 15, 2003 Austin's put on alot of muscle and didn't stand to get in cardio shape. But Austin's going to be the brains behind the match.
