Anyone else almost "not care" about WWE...

Yeah, shit, back in 2000 when there was wrestling on EVERY SINGLE DAY of the week I made sure that I watched it.

I barely ever catch heat - usually only before a PPV so I can see what the set is like.

I haven't watched a full eps. of Smackdown in the longest time.

Velocity is hit and miss.

Raw, sadly, is the show I watch the most often merely because of convenient sheduling.

And if I miss any of em... ah well, didn't miss anything important... clockwork as usual.

I know, I remember when wrestling was on just about EVERY day of the week, and I watched it without missing a beat. From WWF to WCW to ECW to NWA Wildside, I was there each and every show. I looked forward to every show, and I loved watching it then, EVEN when it was a bad show. Now, like I said, I feel like I'm more SUPPOSED to watch, like a job, rather than out of fun.

"why don't they listen?"

Vince McMahon hates us, remember?

D'oh, I need to remember that!

The most depressing thing about all of this is the wasted potential. This isnt like the previous dark era of the WWF when it was full of stupid gimmicks, they have arguably the best roster ever assembled and they still put out month after month of crap. So there is no sign of hope, if they can't take advantage of what they have now there is no reason to believe it will get better in the near future.

Just look at this thread, I mean, damn. Almost everyone here have agreed that it just doesn't "feel right", or even more than that. Why in the hell don't anyone listen to us? Even the casual fans feel the same I believe, I know many who do.

Just sit back, look and this thread, and just ask yourself...

..."why don't they listen?".

You should go to other boards out there and post the same thing.

I know a few where there's quite a few from the Attitude/MTV generation who swallow anything Vince puts out (411, LOP, Rajah) as well as a few from the older generation who justify everything Vince does (CRZ's board).

If not for anything else, just for my amusement as the apologists come out of the woodworks.

Hmmm, we could make an experiment out of this or something of the such. If you give me some random links, I'll post my first thread at other boards, and we can all see just what more and more people think.

The sad thing about it is the fact Vince doesn't blame himself and his "yes men" for WWE's problems, he blames the talent for not working hard enough. I agree with you, after WWE monopolised wrestling in the US, they have the best talent roster they have ever had, therfore the responsibilty of wrestling's current state lies soley on Vince and the other so called "creative geniuses".

Here's a few off the top of my head.

Wienerboard - CRZ's forum.

Rajah's Forum - try not to let it make you too stupid.

LOP forums - not as bad as Rajah but the same warning applies.

I am posting this same thread at various other boards. Is it ok if I post all of the dirrect links to all of the other boards where I post this, just in the name of this experiment?

Actually, he blames the fans.

Yeah, he blames the fans but I've read several stories aroung the place that he also believes the talant aren't working hard enough and that the "locker room leaders" have had several pep talks about this.

..."why don't they listen?".

And what will you expect them to do?

They've been plugging along using the same formula that made them successful a while back, which I think is the source of these issues (overexposure, remember?) There's been hits and misses because the writing staff is different than back then

Admittedly, even in my mark days, I'd usually stop watching in October or so and not pay attention until January again. It's like a constant that those months are terrible. Katie Vick proved it to me again.

I know, but even the notion of blaming the fans is ridiculous.

To be honest I think he is blaming everybody else other than himself. Senility can do bad things to you.

Ok, here are the various forums I've posted this at so far. It will be interesting to see what type of responses we all get...

1) SmarksChoice

2) WrestlingClassics

3) DDTWrestling

4) 4W-Wrestling

5) WienerBoard

6) RajahWWF

7) OldSchool-Wrestling

...that's all I have so far, but if you list more sites I'll post it there also, or you can feel free to do so also! Now, let's sit back and watch what responses we get, this could be very interesting. Anyone care to predict anything here?

It's funny isn't it, how the only people in the world who have a good word to say about Vince just happen to be on his payroll.

I only go to one of those boards, and you probably won't get much disagreement there as most of them stopped watching a while ago.

Which one is that, WrestlingClassics?

You never say anything bad about Vince. It doesn't matter if you work for him not - you might have to in the future so you don't want to burn THAT bridge.

You're correct, anybody who wants a future in wrestling better kiss Vinces ass as he is the only game in town at the momment. However those who have no intention of ever returning to the wrestling business generally don't have nice things to say about him.

It doesn't feel right and everyone's disinterested because there's no alternative. WWE still had it's horrible points back then but usually when it was bad WCW would make up for it somehow and vice versa. Now it's like looking at shit and examining it cuz there is nothing else. I lost pretty much most of my interest when HHH got injured. I was still interested however in the Alliance again, that sparked some excitement for me. However, come draft time and the horrendously overbooked WM X-8 I HATED WWE. All the draft does is limit the time you see your favorites and it makes each show very predictable because it's ALWAYS the same people. I missed SD during this SD6 period because quite frankly I didn't give a fuck about any of them. Other stuff in my life too just took away from my interest in TV as a whole. I wanna see Triple H kicking ass again but knowing he'd get his ass beat if he didn't cheat. I wanna see Chyna, Bret Hart, even Sid for fucksakes. I can't pick out right now like I always could before the main stars. HHH, Austin, Rock, Taker.....Bret,Shawn, and Undertaker....etc. Every uppercard match has to be a main event now so as not to piss anyone off. Everyone talks about how WWE needs to make future stars but like it or not, Ross is right. You can't build a Bret Hart or a Steve Austin or a Rock overnight. They may not go about it right anymore but atleast they have a point. I personally feel like all the people who everyone says should be main eventing except Benoit, shouldn't be. Booker T can't pop a crowd without catchphrases or have an interview to save his ass, RVD kills the heat of any backstage segment because it looks like he doesn't care, current Chris Jericho has shown before when given the ball he usually drops it and hard. I think it's too late now. If they wanted their new breed's first installment, Fully Loaded '00 would have been the time. Rock can make anyone look like a million bucks and could have garnered Benoit some great heat especially with Shane in there too and HHH had a great match with Jericho after Jericho outdid him all the time in their segments. Austin, Rock, and HHH also became big though because they just had "it" and took the ball and ran with it. As far as I can see, the ball is popped and WWE can't and doesn't feel like giving it to anyone in a decent fashion.

I feel the same way when it comes to wrestling. I mean, I'm no longer surprised by anything, even things I didn't have wrestling sites spell out for me. Every week, I watch RAW and feeling empty afterwards, like I could've been writing the next great American novel or something..or I could've written a nice and deep poem.

Also, Rajah's board scares the hell out of me, as they contain the cancer that is FatKane. He nearly single-handedly destroyed the old WWF board at IGN.

I don't care if I am surprised or not. I don't need swerves or unmaskings or anything of the sort. I just want quality television.

In October 2000 I almost cried when I realized that I was gonna miss my first Raw in over 4 years. In the last 6 months alone, I've missed a bunch of Raws and Smackdowns for no reason other than I didn't feel like getting up to watch it. Since Survivor Series 2001, things have just seemed so damn bleak that I don't even feel inclined to watch every week...shit, I slept through half of Wrestlemania last year. I haven't been to a live event since late 2001 and I've had plenty of opportunities, but just didn't feel like going (and we've had Raws and Smackdowns in the area since then). The Rock's return has me a little more interested though.

I still care in the sense that I can still watch and get emotionally into it.

I was PISSED off at the RR when Commonwealth Connection and Jericho got eliminated but I remember watching Benoit v. Angle in a crowd full of Benoit fans and getting so into that match that even know he was going to lose- I felt like Benoit had a shot at victory.

Even though RAW is a bore most of the time I can still get into the big matches and almost anything involving my three favourite wrestlers.

I also get emotionally into anything with Shawn Michaels as he is the superstar I hate the most

I care about a few of the wrestlers still, even though my interest in the product has diminished down to nothing. Guys like Jericho, Angle, Storm, Nowinski... I still mark out. I just can't sit down and watch anymore.

Man, if I met VKM on the street, I'd *so* kick his ass.

What you people seem to be missing is that you do still care about wrestling... otherwise you wouldn't be posting about how much you don't care about it. People who really don't care anymore just stop watching and move along to other pursuits without grand declarations of their apathy. After all, they're apathetic. If you really con't care about WWE programming anymore, stop torturing yourself and go play catch or something.

Well I thought that I would post my opinion on the situation.

I couldn't even stomach the second hour of Raw last night (it's on Fridays in the UK). The first hour was sheer dross and this situation has been going on now for quite some time. Hell the last time I was exicted about Raw was when they brought Eric Bischoff in. Now look at him. He is simply becoming cannon fodder for Steve Austin to beat on so both he and Vince McMahon can some kind of revenge.

However there are several problems with the current WWE, and in particually Raw. Firstly, the commentators. I am so sick of the stale garbage that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler spout out every single week on Raw. Ross with his cliches and Lawler with his pervy old man stick are just sad. I mean, can't the WWE find some people who would appeal to the people the show is aimed at and not a couple of sad old southerners.

We also have the problem of the veterans. Poeple like Triple H, and Shawn Michaels taking up a ton of TV time and putting themselves over when they should be trying to make new stars for the future. When Michaels superkicked Jericho on the ramp, when Jericho has had maybe two bits of offence on Michaels in this entire feud, make me want to kill him. And the way the announcers put him over like his is God makes me want to barf. As for Triple H the way he verbally layed into Maven made me switch off. It's sad to see that is really what Triple H thinks of guys like Maven. Remember his little speech on Tough Enough. They need to get rid of this cancer from the WWE. He really serves on purpose, other than pissing off WWE fans. Not only that but both guys have a chance to put over and make stars out of Jericho and Booker but it probably won't happen in either case.

We also have the pushing of people like Test and A-Train, and probably Bradshaw when he returns, who nobody cares about. As well as other workers being giving crappy gimmicks, Goldust, or are not pushed at all.

However, I must still care to even turn on the TV. I can only hope that things can get better over time or, and I've said it before, this company is fucked.
