Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted March 16, 2003 Well, 15 minutes before the selection show, and the at-large bids that are pretty much locks look like this: ACC: Wake Forest, Maryland, N.C. State Atlantic 10: Xavier, St. Joseph's Big East: Syracuse, Notre Dame, UConn Big 10: Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan St., Indiana Big 12: Oklahoma St., Texas, Kansas, Missouri C-USA: Marquette, Cincinnati, Memphis MWC: Utah, BYU Pac-10: Arizona, Cal, Stanford, Arizona St. SEC: Florida, Mississippi St., LSU, Tennessee So, that leaves 5 bids for (probably) these ten schools: Boston College Seton Hall Texas Tech Butler Southern Illinois UNLV Wyoming Auburn Alabama Gonzaga I think the 5 will be Boston College, Butler, Southern Illinois, Auburn and Gonzaga. Alabama for Southern Illinois is certainly conceivable (although there's no way in hell I'd put the Tide in the field). The automatic bids: Vermont (America East) Duke (Atlantic Coast) Dayton (Atlantic 10) Troy State (Atlantic Sun) Pittsburgh (Big East) Weber State (Big Sky) North Carolina-Asheville (Big South) Illinois (Big Ten) Oklahoma (Big XII) Utah State (Big West) North Carolina-Wilmington (Colonial) Louisville (Conference USA) Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Horizon) Pennsylvania (Ivy) Central Michigan (Mid-American) Manhattan (Metro Atlantic) Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (Mid-Continent) South Carolina State (Mid-Eastern Athletic) Creighton (Missouri Valley) Colorado State (Mountain West) Wagner (Northeast) Austin Peay (Ohio Valley) Oregon (Pacific 10) Holy Cross (Patriot) Kentucky (Southeastern) East Tennessee State (Southern) Sam Houston State (Southland) Texas Southern (Southwestern Athletic) Western Kentucky (Sun Belt) San Diego (West Coast) Tulsa (Western Athletic)

If Syracuse can get by Manhattan, they should get to the Elite Eight. Oklahoma/Louisville could be a great game.

I was so hoping Alabama would miss out. This doesn't look good for Gonzaga. Looking at the games, Weber State is a GREAT Cinderella pick out of this bracket. I think they should make the Sweet 16, and they could give Kentucky a really tough game.

Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted March 16, 2003 West bracket: (1) Arizona vs. (16) Vermont (8) Cincinnati vs. (9) Gonzaga (5) Notre Dame vs. (12) Wisconsin-Milwaukee (4) Illinois vs. (13) W. Kentucky (3) Duke vs. (14) Colorado St. (6) Creighton vs. (11) Central Michigan (7) Memphis vs. (10) Arizona St. (2) Kansas vs. (15) Utah State WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Wow, this is a DEEP bracket. Tennessee was the last team out, it looks like. Pencil Creighton into the sweet 16...I don't like the Blue Devils' chances away from Cameron against a really good team. They didn't draw one in the ACC tournament, and they lost quite a few road games in conference play this year.

Guest fazzle Report post Posted March 16, 2003 Damn, UNCW gets Maryland. That's...kinda harsh. Well...Go Seahawks anyways! At least they only have to go to Nashville to play, instead of across the country like last year.
