What's your dream movie?

Do some of you guys write screenplays? Some of these are very good. If you do not, why don't you?

I'm trying to motivate my ass to do so. On the commentary for Spy Kids 2 Robert Rodriguez says how you should just write whatever ideas you think of, rather than spending time trying to come up with that perfect script.

I mean, I've had the outline for "Yeti" in my head for 10 fuckin years

I used to draw ads for movies when I was 13, I'd just scrawl the title and the stars, have it say " A ____ film", put in a rating and the studio logo on the side.

I also drew caricatures of AC/DC

I gotta put over Lord of the Curry in this catagory. Even though he hasn't posted here, he has some really great ideas for scripts.

i write everything out in dialogue, notes & shot lists. when i got around to shooting a little movie on my own, i found that i don't really need a script, per se, as long as i have it straight in my head. there's a couple short films i'd like to get done over the summer, but i don't like to talk about anything i'm working on until it's actually done.

The inventor of the Yugo's nephew eats way too much acid one day, goes insane, and tries to kill his uncle for the fortune. Every car in the movie is a Yugo. He gets away with choking his uncle to death, then he sells a few minor businesses his uncle had on the back burner. They become multi-billion dollar multinational corporations in a matter of days. He carves "Failure" into his face, and becomes a horrible thief that gets busted on his first robbery. He dies in prison.

I tried, it was too hard. So what I'll do is get a guy who can write screenplays and just give him the story, so we'll get co-writer credits. Or just do a Book/Movie thing like Kubrick and Clarke did

so you get half the credit and the writer does all the work.

When giving somebody the overall idea, and telling them WHAT to write, you deserve half the credit.

Here's mine. BTW I've tried a few screenplays. One I near completed but it was a basically a Pulp Fiction rip off. I've had hundereds of great ideas but none that I've completed a script for. Hopefully this one I'll finish in the usmmer:

"Finding Alaska"

It starts with a 5 young teenage friends talknig about friends forever and that crap and something like that. Then they reunite in 20 years for the first time and all have taken different paths. One is a big shto actor and is secretly despised by 3 of the other guys. One is a struggling musician who is jealous of the actor. One is a computer analyst and is usually the peace keeper in the group, as he has no enemies. One is unemployed and very bitter. And the last one is an amateur pilot. Thep ilot getst hem ap lane and tehy decide to "Find alaska" by taking a tirp there for an adventure. Soemthing screws up and they lose control of thep lane and crash leaving thme alone in the middle of Alaska with little food, little drinks and nothing else. They search the place in teams(actor & analyst), (musician & unemployed) with the pilot left back with the plane he is injured form the crash. Sitting alone he begins to hallucinate form staring into the white snow and bright sky. After not fidning anythign they trace their way back to thep lane to find the body of the pilot missing. They get worried but assume that maybe he wnadered off and will be back. By morning he has still not come back so they got out to search. Same teams as teh previous day but this time as they search the musician gets shot. Unmployed tries to revive him but he's dead so the unemployed guy stumbles off looking for help and trying to spare himself. Time passes and unemployed sees theo ther two and as he tries to tell them what happened he is attack form behidn by a big man. The man starts stabbing the unemployed guy until he is knocked offv by the actor(redeeming himself for his cikciness) using a frozen piece of meat which they brought along hoping to cook on the plane. The man is beat to death and the three friends walk on desperate for help. Soon after the unemployed guy can't go on and is left behind as the actor & analyst walk on. They get to a cabin where they look inside to see the pilot tied up and dead witrh bites taken out of him. The analyst takes the rifel(he picked up off the man who killed unemployed) and aims through tyhe window waiting for someone to shwo up so they could kill him. Suddenly form behind the actor is stabbed and after a strggule the analyst shoots the second man(obviously a cannibal) and from inside the cabin call search and rescure. They hide the bodies of the pilot and cannibal and are rescued and fly home.

That's a roughy copy details aren't hammeredo ut yet.

BTW if anyone knows who he is I want Sonny Landham to play one of the two cannibals.

And yah this is reminiscent of Deliverance but I'd try to make very different.

I'm working on a screenplay of a horror movie I thought up.

A Family (Father, Mother, Daughter, Son) are brutally murdered, and the main suspects are a group of kids who were enemies with the Daughter and Son. The group were actually planning on murdering the family, but they didn't do it. Soon, they fear that one of them told the cops of their plan, and now they are going to get arrested, but before the he can tell the cops, he is also brutally murdered. The rest of the group goes into paranoid mode, thinking the town, and cops are out to get them, and also thinking that one of them really did murder the family and the snitch. There are no other murders that take place until the very end, where some of them end up killing each other in a bloody-paranoid show down. After all that, only one is left standing, and as she is getting away, the cops find her. She then finds out that a psychotic serial killer escaped from the asylum, and murdered the family, and the kid that was going to snitch, and the last person remaining realizes that everyone is dead because they all went insane, and then commits suicide, because that's all she can think of.

Well, I think it sounds cool....

Oh, and a prequel to Darkness Falls. One that doesn't suck.

Comments or Suggestions?

exactly. If I'm coming up with what happens in the movie, I deserve a writer credit

"story by ravenbomb, screenplay by X" would be suitable. maybe even "screenplay by X with ravenbomb" would work. but it requires less talent & almost no work to come up with the idea. giving someone an idea, and struggling to make the idea actually work are two completely different animals. this point is being proven by saying "i tried to write it, but it was too hard." i think hitchcock had the right idea with this: he guided his writers pretty thoroughly about what he wanted, but he never gave himself screenplay credit.

when I say writing the screenplay was too hard, I meant having to deal with 'Cut to EXT Bla bla bla's house' or whatever you're supposed to say with that and all the technical stuff. Writing what happened was fine.

then why not just write what happens & worry about format later? hell, why worry about format at all?

Write a script like you would for a play, then find somebody that can easily write it in screenplay format. That way, you get co-writer credits, and also the "Based on an idea/story by" credits.

there's also software you can buy that supposedly helps greatly with the formatting.

A single lower class father finds out his son has a rare and deadly virus. With little or no money to pay for it, he is forced to resort to a life of crime, but starts questioning how far he's willing to go to save him.

That sounds similar to "John Q"

but I mine would be if they actually pulled off a Ming Dynasty type Urban kung fu movie.Like those sprite/rapper/wu tang commercials that were out like 99 made into a story.

It would be like "Belly" mixed with "Crotching Tiger Hidden Dragon":Thugs with Timbs and name brand baggy clothes boucing off buildings and fighting with bizarre weapons. Have it not so out in the open, but in an urban enviro (like New York) and Get the members of Wutnag to put there twelve cents in.

:headbang: That would be sweet
