Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted March 20, 2003 I remember back in 2001 when the were building the Austin/Rock main event for X-7 and the majority of the IWC complained about how boring and dissapointing the build was... remember the Debra swerve~! that turned into absolutely nothing? Infact, the whole thing was built up by run-ins, staredowns, and using each other's finishing moves. Basically the same thing now, but it wasn't all that "exciting" in 2001 either. The only reason we sometimes try and remember the whole thing as being so amazingly great, was because the end result was a great match... something we're probably not going to get here
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 20, 2003 Actually, after they pushed Debra aside the last week or two of build was very, very good.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 20, 2003 What was up with the Debra situation anyways? It was like they didn't know how to get heat between the Rock and Austin without including an outside-the-ring issue. My only complaint (aside from Deb) was/is that they booked encounters just to put it in the 'my way' montage... Which wasn't a big complaint cause the montage rocked. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 20, 2003 Was the Debra swerve a wink wink to Wrestlemania V?? Rock was Hogan, Austin was Savage, Liz was Elizabeth and Angle and HHH were The Twin Towers, That's what it came off as to me
Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted March 20, 2003 I don't know... it seems as if I remember reading that they were going to end up having Debra turn on Austin and join sides with the Rock, but I could be wrong. And the last two weeks of the feud basically just consisted of run ins. The peak seemed to be that long ass interview segment between Rock/Austin/JR that seemed good when clipped, but was really long and boring when viewed as a whole. Infact, the whole WM X-7 card seemed thrown together at the last moment at the time. It just turned out to be an amazingly awesome ppv. So because of that, some tend to forget how bad things seemed leading up to it
