One and Only Smackdown! Thread -- 3-20-03

We'll be just 10 days away from WrestleMania XIX when SmackDown! kicks off this Thursday night (8/7 CT) on UPN!

A match 20 years in the making -- Hulk Hogan vs. Vince McMahon -- is scheduled to go down at WrestleMania, but first, the contract needs to be signed. Both Hogan and Mr. McMahon will be in Louisville, Ky., this Thursday night -- the site of SmackDown! -- where they have agreed to participate in the official contract signing! After what Mr. McMahon had to say about Hogan last week, what will happen when these two bitter rivals come face to face this Thursday night?

 

Another legend, the Undertaker, will also be on SmackDown! this week. Ten days before he teams up with Nathan Jones to battle A-Train & Big Show, the Undertaker will be in singles action, against Bill DeMott!

 

The WWE Tag Team Championship will also be on the line at WrestleMania, as Team Angle defends against Los Guerreros and Chris Benoit & Rhyno in a Triple Threat Match. But first, this Thursday night on SmackDown!, it'll be one-on-one competition for both members of Team Angle. Shelton Benjamin will battle Chris Benoit, while Charlie Haas takes on Rhyno!

 

Los Guerreros will be in action this week as well, teaming up with Rikishi for a huge six-man battle with the F.B.I. (Chuck Palumbo, Nunzio and Johnny Stamboli).

 

Plus, the Superstar who hopes to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion at WrestleMania, Rey Mysterio, will take on the former champion, Jamie Noble, accompanied by Nidia!

 

You're not going to want to miss this episode of SmackDown! Be sure to tune in to UPN on Thursday at 8/7 CT!

 

NOTE: SmackDown! will not be seen at its normal time this week on KTXA in Dallas. Instead, catch it Saturday from 8 to 10 p.m.

DeMott vs. Undertaker won't be the focus of the show or anything. So no big deal there. The other matches should be at least passable if the FBI match uses their heat segment on someone other than Rikishi. Rey vs Noble and Benoit vs Shelton will be fine and it will be interesting to see Rhyno back in singles... I hope he can shake a little more rust off tonight and get back in the grove a little more.

President Bush has a grudge against Smackdown i think...these damn things always seem to happen on wednesday or thursday and preempt.

 

Why UPN, who is owned by the same company as FOX which is showing continous news on both FOX and FOX NEWS channels needs to also show the coverage is beyond me.

Actually I think they plan things that way because of the high viewership on Thursdays. Of course, it probably hurts NBC a lot more than WWE.

So is SD! even going to on tonight? If not, they may air it Saturday night like they did with the 9-11 SD!. Either way, I'm sick of seeing news on EVERY broadcast channel especially considering FOX and UPN are airing the exact same broadcast.

Hope it's on, cause I can't stand this every single channel must cover the war on Iraq.

 

Although, up in Canada it comes on the Score (at least where I'm at), and frankly they just do sports, so hopefully WWE lets us see it.
