Actually comparing RATM and Audioslave is a little wacky, considering Audioslave sounds like Cornell's solo album meets Evil Empire. It's an idea that had so much potential and so much hype, but then immediately fell flat like a 3-day old Coke. Rage's s/t album alone totally destroys Audioslave. Tremendous album and I cannot stand Chris Cornell's vocals which remind me of Albert's random screams when he's going for an avalanche in the corner.
