Guest BoboBrazil Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I was just sent along a scan of the cover of next edition of WWE magazine from a person whose name I will not mention here to protect him. In the picture he sent, Bill Goldberg is on the cover, with the headline, "WHO'S NEXT: Sparks Fly As Goldberg Hits WWE". This confirms what was reported a few weeks ago by a source close to Goldberg who said Big Bill had signed with the company and has indeed agreed to terms with WWE. WWE sources have told me that it is expected that Goldberg will debut either at WrestleMania or on TV the week afterward. I don't know at this time whether he will be a Raw or Smackdown brand talent. 1wrestling.com

I will believe it when I see it. A WM suprise could be cool, maybe Hunter can have a Goldberg runin to to drop the belt to Booker.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Wow. Goldberg. Who Cares? After all the Steiner hype..he'll be a big deal for a month or so and then no one will care again..that seems to be the pattern..
Guest Sakura Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 For what it's worth, I've heard this is a fake.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Uh..well..that pic is him standing in front of the old nitro set..I smell photoshop..they wouldn't use a pic of him on the old Nitro set..they'd take new pics..
Guest Brian Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 They're using the Nitro set as the background. Come on, they've got to have some pictures of him if they're willing to let this story leak.
Guest Sakura Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 So if it is fake, doesn't that pretty much kill 1Wrestling's credibility? I would find it hilarious. "from a person whose name I will not mention here to protect him". Hah.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Well, if the pic is real, then I am not pleased. Not pleased at all.
Guest Ram Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Although the photo may be old, it does LOOK legit. The only problem I can see is the black airbrushing behind the W symbol.
Mecha Mummy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 If Scherer HAD said who it was, Vince probably would have given him a raise for making Scherer look like a moron.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 :clears throat: "Fuck Goldberg" thank you and good night
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Assuming he is signed...does that means Rocky is sticking around until April to put Goldberg over?
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Well, another line of thinking is, how many people who read the WWE magazine would even notice that the background is the old nitro set? Maybe Vince has started to save some money and whatnot..I mean he does own the WCW stuff so he could have probably used it for free.. On that note, someone who has access to WCW Magazine covers should look and see if thats a cover..
Guest Brian Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I was thinking more along the lines that if they signed him, they probably have brough him into Titan and probably would want to do a photo shoot on the blank screen anyways.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 They may have airbrushed behind the WWE logo to make it stand out more against the background. Also, they probably used a pic of his old entrance in the background, which would explain why its from WCW Nitro circa 1999. They also probably a) don't have enough time to take new pics of him and get them to the presses or b) purposely didn't take new pics, seeing as how when Jones, Batista, the nWo, SOH, and Steiner all went to Titan to get photos taken it was reported all over the IWC.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Baring in mind the lack of momentum WWE has going into WM, they could have done this just to try and get people talking two-weeks ahead of the biggest show of the year?
Guest Sakura Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I'm guessing some fan thought it would be funny to make the fake pic and someone found it and sent it to 1popup and they're selling it like they just got some top secret info like f'n Area 51 photos or something. "My sources", "I won't say his name to protect him".
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 1popup.bullshit.con has all the credibility of an Enron executive.
Bored Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 So if it is fake, doesn't that pretty much kill 1Wrestling's credibility? I would find it hilarious. "from a person whose name I will not mention here to protect him". Hah. That'd be assuming they had credibility to begin with. Too much of their news stories just seem like opinions taken off message boards. As for the Goldberg thing whether its fake or not it doesn't really matter as he will be coming in no matter what and might as well be for the first 2 months after Wrestlemania which is typically a very stale time for the WWE.
Rob E Dangerously Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 "Inside the bizarre mind of Jeff Hardy" now, this is the money draw
Guest snuffbox Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Last I checked Goldberg was blowing dogs for quarters...he should fit in well on the wwe roster.
Guest crandamaniac Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Any word if that magazine has an article about Bret Hart coming back and leading the Invasion?
TheFranchise Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Any word if that magazine has an article about Bret Hart coming back and leading the Invasion? :D
Guest bob_barron Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 That picture looks pretty fake. Plus- neither Meltzer or Keller have confirmed it
