I don't know if he got fired over it or what, I never knew that anyhow. All I know is that the match is SHIT, I'm talking horribleness at it's worse here. Just the way both guys were moving, they did NOT want to be in there. I'll send it to you if you want.

Dave Meltzer reports that Goldberg probably signed his contract over a week ago, but was asked by WWE officials to keep it quiet.

 

Goldberg has been "living at the gym" for the past week or so to get back into the shape he wants to be in to look his best for TV.

 

Because of the timing of the signing, it is not expected that Goldberg will have a match at Wrestlemania, although an appearance isn’t out of the question. Money was apparently decided upon a while ago, and scheduling and creative were the holdups. It is thought that Goldberg agreed to about 100 dates in the contract for use over the next year.

 

It is said that the Rock agreed to stay until the April PPV in order to have a match with Goldberg, and Rock was a major catalyst to getting this deal done, as he set up a secret meeting between Goldberg and Vince McMahon several weeks ago.

 

It is now expected that Rock vs Goldberg will headline the Backlash PPV on April 27.

Thus far we are batting 1.000 as far as these guys being draws. Why should Goldberg be any different?

The only names i can think of left in the US (who can still wrestle) are Luger, Sting and Foley, and the first two are shot to fuck.

I call Foley as the next big signing.

Not if he has half the dignity I think he has. It would be like opening himself up to shit like the Cactus Jack amnesia angle all over again. I have no faith that WW_ can sway Foley to come back considering the shape they're in right now.

 

He should stick to writing. No need to put his body on the line any more. He's done more than his fair share.

Guys, don't you realise that if this is the last big hotshot, that it's a good thing? They'll have no choice but to push new stars. And for that, I am hoping that Goldberg makes WWE a bit of money, but is a failure in WWE, for that very reason.

Keller is reporting Goldberg is in full time with a multi year deal. I am glad, I realize everyone will disagree but I feel he brings an intangible to the table that Steiner, Hogan, Nash and Hall didn't in that he is still young enough to work. He can still appeal to people my age, college kids. He shows great intensity in the ring.

the problem is that all these big names are attracting the wrong fan base from a business point of view. The biggest money in any entertainment business (which is what WWE is, don't fool yourself) is in the kids, teenagers with disposable income. Guys like Goldberg, Steiner, Hogan and HBK appeal most to the people who were teen marks the first time they came around. For example, i mark out for HBK's entrance music because when i was 14 and into wrestling for the first time he was the cool champion. Therefore, i give him a nostalgia pop. However, to the young fans getting into wrestling today, the ones who still believe its kinda real, he's the guy that used to be cool, who used to be big. The guy his parents or older brother liked. Which, as we all know, is not gonna make you like something more. It's like a band from the mid nineties who were cutting edge then, but just sound dated now. As soon as the nostalgia pops die out, unless you move onto something else you're gonna be forgotten. Look at flair. He's reinvented himself, and is now more over than HHH without stepping foot in the ring (something Hunter could learn from). If they bring Goldberg in as a new charachter and try to build him up he'll get over, but if he's bought in to trade on former glories he'll fail. Look at Booker T, he needed to be reinvented before WWE fans grew to like him and get behind him.

- I am 99% sure Ultimo Dragon has signed with WWE as well, but he will wrestle a more limited schedule (not be on all house shows - will do around 10 shows per month as opposed to 15). He will begin on the Smackdown roster shortly after WrestleMania.

Kick ass.... I'm tired of seeing Funaki get squashed on Velocity against Demott and A Train. We've needed another Japanese jobber in his place for a while now.
