10 U.S. Soldiers Hurt In Grenade Attack

God dammit, I'm now officially annoyed by the term Muslim-American. Do you call people Christian-Americans? Atheiest-Americans?

The same thing could be said for the term African-American. Assuming you are of European background, do you call yourself a 'European American'? IMO, you come to America, you live in America, you are an American. Leave it at that. But that, of course, is a whole new can of worms.

THANK YOU Anglesault! I've been wondering that for years. You live, work, and play in America, you are an AMERICAN. Dividing us into subsections promotes different treatment based upon those dividing lines.

Christians do lots of bad shit, sure. They'll bomb abortion clinics, form bizarre militias. Most of the KKK pervert the Bible into suiting their own needs.

Still - it all comes back to 9-11 for me.

9-11 killed a bit less for 3,000 people.

God only knows how many Christians have killed and been killed in the skirmishes in Ireland. The saddest thing is they're actually fighting each other, sort of.

Right. That's why I don't like that term or similiar ones.

And Even if you want to us it, someone, please, explain why an Egyptian in America isn't an "African-American"

The Catholics and the Protestants? If you are saying they are basically the same, that's not true.

They're a lot more similar than the Muslims and the Jews is what I'm meaning here. But yes, if I were naming how many died in religious conflicts, I'd probably lump both sides under Christian. It's like the Shiike Muslims and the... Uhm.. Okay, I don't know Islam pretty well, but you get the picture.

Unbelieveable. I'm in Shock&Awe that all the Iraqi tanks and soldiers are out there, and one American idiot does more damage to U.S. morale than all of them.

You never hear about many Sunni Muslim terrorists... most of them tend to be of the more hardline Shi'ite faction for some reason. Then again, you never hear about Greek Orthodox terrorists while you DO hear of Catholic ones.

Dude, why are you trying to turn this into a pissing contest over which religion is worse?

I threw up qualifiers. This is how I feel. ME, personally. I mean, I live 15 miles away from the Pentagon - so 9-11 rings home to me almost as much as it does to a New Yorker.

Every religion on the planet has zealots and wackjobs. Not debating that. Look at the sick SOB who abducted Elizabeth Smart. Technically, he's "Christian."

All I am saying is that <qualifier>I</qualifier> have been turned off religion by the Muslim faith lately. Perhaps if I lived in Ireland, I'd feel this way about Christianity.

Can we move on to something else? There's enough tension on this board without discussing politics AND religion simultaneously.

Okies. I'm in the same boat as you are really.

There's no reason to take offense personally over what's written on the internet. We're both cool. B-)

Im guessing that if there was 1 "mole" or "Radical" in the U.S. Military that could make it all the way to active duty halfway across the globe and pull an attack on fellow soldiers like this, there are probably more over there now as we speak.

See, this is the problem. I wouldn't be suprised if all the other Muslim soldiers in the military aren't subject to unecessary amounts of suspicion from their troop.

One fucktard has caused problems for everyone. I hope they strap him to the MOAB.

Apparently they're saying that this guy was "disgruntled" and not motivated by religion.

I hope that this is the case. It's just very suspicious.

I honestly feel sorry for legit reasonable normal people in the army and America in general who are muslim. Always have. They're seen as threats because people who look like them, pray like them, live like them, and sound like them are terrorists. It's not nice to racially profile someone, but it's much safer. I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make these decisions. If only people realized that faith in America is not a struggle. If you want to be a muslim, be a muslim. If you want to wear a burka (sp) wear one NO ONE CARES. I don't understand why they hate one of the most religiously tolerant states in the world...

From the UCMJ:

817. ART. 17. JURISDICTION OF COURTS-MARTIAL IN GENERAL

(a) Each armed force has court-martial jurisdiction over all persons subject to this chapter. The exercise of jurisdiction by one armed force over personnel of another armed force shall be in accordance with regulations prescribed by the President.

(b) In all cases, departmental review after that by the officer with authority to convene a general court-martial for the command which held the trial, where that review is required under this chapter, shall be carried out by the department that includes the armed force of which the accused is a member.

818. ART. 18. JURISDICTION OF GENERAL COURTS-MARTIAL

Subject to section 817 of this title (article 17), general courts-martial have jurisdiction to try persons subject to this chapter for any offense made punishable by this chapter and may, under such limitations as the President may prescribe, adjudge any punishment not forbidden by this chapter, including the penalty of death when specifically authorized by this chapter. General courts-martial also have jurisdiction to try any person who by the law of war is subject to trial by a military tribunal and may adjudge any punishment permitted by the law of war. However, a general court-martial of the kind specified in section 816(1)(B) of this title (article 16(1)(B)) shall not have jurisdiction to try any person for any offense for which the death penalty may be adjudged unless the case has been previously referred to trial as noncapital case.

Emphasis added.

He's a dead man, and it won't take very long. I think he should be killed in classic execution style, two shots to the back of the head while on his knees, in front of the entire 101st. Fuck him, and if there indeed is a Hell, then I hope the Devil anally rapes him with a pitchfork until the next millennium.

Why not let the whole 101st take a shot or two at him?

Never mind...those bullets should be saved for when they're needed and not wasted on this idiot.

CNN reported that the guy was disgruntled, he was told that he would not be going with the 101st into Iraq but would have to stay behind. Uhm, I think going crazy on your commanding officers just proved their point about keeping you away from Iraq. Enjoy trying to find a new career with that nice court martial on your record. Unless they decide to execute you instead.

So the dude was disgruntled that he wasn't going to be on the front lines, so he starts chucking grendaes into his commander's tent. How much you wanna bet he's going for the insanity plea and gets stuck in a mental hospital for some time then let go? Personally, I think he should be hung from the goalposts of the nearest football stadium, but I've got a bad feeling that he's going to get a lesser punishment.

I respectfully disagree.

They should strap him to MOAB and drop it along the rural outskirts of Baghdad.

A suspected terrorist arrested in the US a while back apparently joined the Army to do just that.

For killing (so far) one soldier and injuring fifteen others with a cowardly grendade attack, during a time of war? You bet he's going to be executed. As it should be, though, the execution will be swift and humane; even though it's more than he deserves, it's what we are morally obligated to give him.

Fox is saying the soldier was upset at being reprimanded and not being allowed to go up to the front lines.

Religion of peace strikes again!

An openly gay man can't get into our army, but this shithead can? We are at WAR with these assholes, whether you have the balls to admit it or not, and I really don't think we need any more of our boys to die because some jackoff joins our army so he can turn his gun on good men and women because he actually believes that's what Allah wants him to do. Sure, "they're not all bad" and all that crap, but it's a risk just not worth taking.
