DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2003 A Battle Royal that uses the unbooked guys from both brands, the winner wins a Trophy for their GM (or something). Hurricane wins. It's not like they're reading this, will say "wow that's a good idea" and book it, but I was just wondering if you guys thought it was a good idea or not. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2003 That's not bad. Although I'm not a fan of big ass 10-man, 6-man tags, etc - I do like to see events such as WrestleMania feature as many prominate stars as possible.
Guest ISportsFan Report post Posted March 25, 2003 I like the idea of maybe a Raw v. Smackdown 10-man tag or a battle royal. Add some intrigue of heels and faces on the same team working for their brand... OK, so that would not work in the ten-man. WWE can't think that logically. Battle royal it is then. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Considering they did it just two months ago and that they'd be doing it for no real reason, I'd say that I don't care for this ideal. However I can't stand Battle Royales so maybe I'm biased.
Guest notJames Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Maybe a 4-on-4 inter-brand tag match where the winning brand gets bragging rights for a year. Guys on each brand have to put aside their differences (yeah, right) in order to show which brand is better. Kinda like a low-to-midcard showcase. Lotsa fun things could happen. Basically what ISportsFan said. That or a cruiser melée. I'd rather watch that than any of the other guys on RAW
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Considering that some "big" names are still matchless...It wouldn't be implausable to see WWE have a Mixed Battle Royal. Put 8 and 8 Raw-Steiner, Test, Hurricane, Bubba, Dvon, Jeff Hardy, Stevie, and Dreamer Smackdown-Rikishi, Nunzio, Palumbo, Stamboli, Moore, Kendrick, Tajiri, Knoble, However, I won't die if I don't get Jeff or Steiner or Rikishi... Guest notJames Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Test and Stacy will probably do some lame filler segment like last night. Buh Buh and D-Von will probably make their presences felt in the RAW tag match. Jeff Hardy and Christian, although I hope this doesn't happen, may interject themselves in the HBK/Jericho match. Moore and Kendrick wil most likely show up for the cruiserweight championship match for some outside shenanigans. Hopefully Steiner will miss his flight and be fired. 3-Minute Warning will be firmly entrenched by the Kraft Food Services table. The rest will be placing bets on which one of them will end up on TNA next. Of course, I could be wrong...
Gert T 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Maybe have it so the GM will reward the winner with a title match on the next show, that way guys will try to team up on guys for the good of their show, but backstab each other for the title shot. I don't love battle royales either, but i agree if they can find a way to get every body on WM reasonably.
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 25, 2003 Really, I can't see anyone not on the card who deserves to be on it. So why do it? Leave the big pay-offs and the glory for those who've earned it.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 25, 2003 True...Just have a Nice little "Bonus" 6 man tag match for Heat... Hardy, TEST and Steiner Vs 3MW and Xstain... Yes, I know Hurricane isn't on the card...
gWIL 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Choken One, change J.Hardy with Hurricane, and Jeff get to escort Trish to the ring.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted March 26, 2003 I think Hurricane really deserves a spot somewhere. Any other match would be so desperately and hurriedly thrown together it'd be silly though. I don't think I'd be too upset to see Hurricane continue to interject himself into Stone Cold v Rock though

I don't think I'd be too upset to see Hurricane continue to interject himself into Stone Cold v Rock though I think that would be a great close count with him running out and chokeslamming Rock, then Austin covers and gets a 2 9/10 count. Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 26, 2003 The battle royale match and Mania usually go hand in hand together (how many have they had in total? I would bet at least 8-9 Manias have had a battle royale in them) but considering we just saw one on Raw a month ago, I think it would be a bad idea. I wouldn't mind a gauntlet (or turmoil match as WWE calls them) with maybe 6 guys, 3 from each side, and the winner gets something (anything, even a Mania invitational trophy or something), preferably the IC title. But fat chance of that happening. Might even make more sense to put all 6 guys in it from Raw since that side of the card seems so weak. Definately would change the tag title match to take out RVD and Kane and put the Duds in there. But you could have RVD, Kane, Hurricane, Test, Steiner, and maybe Jeff Hardy in there. If they were going to do this though, obviously it should have been booked weeks ago and really pushed hard on TV.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 In 18 WrestleMania's they've had 4 battle royals. WrestleMania 2 (Andre), 4, (Bad News Brown), 14 (LOD 2000) and 17 (Iron Shiek). While hardly the 8-9 you were thinking, it's something that has been done more than once.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 26, 2003 The reason I put Hardy there was simply for the Connection with Xstain...Hurricane has ZERO beef with those guys... Steiner/Test should still have dissension...Xstain and Hardy had a little thing as did Test and Xstain...3MW are merely the only remaning Heels... Hurricane doesn't need to wrestle...He can still have a Spot on the show...somehow...

BTW, 3 Minute Warning has NO RIGHT to be in a match for Mania, PERIOD!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 26, 2003 It's not Mania...it's HEAT...Big Difference...
Guest RedJed Report post Posted March 26, 2003 It's not Mania...it's HEAT...Big Difference... Point is though is that a battle royale concept for Mania isn't too smart if they have had 3 of them (even if its on Heat, its still a part of the show that day) in the past 5 years (14, 15, and 17). DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Wasn't there one at Mania 15 too? Like on Heat? You'd think I'd knwo that since I just watched WM15 2 hours ago... but then again, that's not really Mania.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 a Battle royal would work 20 man classic....no real goal or aim just to do it.... Plus it would give those wrestlers not having a match to hve a match... can make it cross brand Battle royal...to see which Brand comes out on top.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Today's crowd needs a reason to care about the rumble...Be it $$$, Title Shot or even a Giant ready to break trophy... Seriously, I don't get the Royale Love... They should just do 2 "Bonus" Matches like the usually do anyways... A Raw Six Man and a Rikishi/Nunzio match...or maybe Tajiri Vs Knoble.... How has Noble not earned it? or the Dudleyz? Or Tajiri? There are some who legitimately should be on the show but aren't. Of course some will wrestle on Heat so maybe everyone who does deserve it will get a shot.

I think the Hardcore Match at XVI was considered a battle royal, and it was close enough with all the guys that were included in it.
